I miss stargate as much as the next guy, but there's nothing left to bring back. Ben Browder was a good actor and all, but the SG series died when Richard Dean Anderson stopped being a main character. Much as I loved ol' Jack, it was his fault the series eventually got cancelled. SGA had good stories, but half the cast was assembled from SG-1 extras, and SGU had good actors but no story line... Only in the days of O'neil and Hammond could there be good acting AND good storylines...

i disagree...SGA was strong enough with Weir, Mckay, Shepherd, and Teyla...w/ a little Ronin.....

but SG suffers from B- story, C- script, D- directing, C- cinematography...

sometimes the formula was decent enough to go on...but when Tapping appeared, the show headed downhill...Tapping is not as strong as Higginson...and when Picardo entered, there was no SGA to salvage..

eventhough Picardo is a brilliant actor..it did work well dynamically...

but anything can hold together ...

@jackhammer10101 Amanda Tapping was female lead on SG-1 for 10 years, and is lead of her own show going on 4 years. Meanwhile, Torri was replaced (by Amanda) on SGA and has since only worked on small guest roles and TV movies. Amanda is the far stronger actress, and personally I'd say season 4 was easily the strongest of SGA's, though admittedly that had little to do with Amanda.

you can like amanda tapping's character, but after taking 4 years of acting and private lessons with a director that drew barrymore, anthony hopkins, brad pitt, andy garcia etc went to to grease their chops, and 2 + years of film school at LACC and UCLA...i sort of have the edge here....and the comprehension to say who is a better method and character actor....

when an actor is hungry, they tend to keep up the "character acting" because you never know whether the show will be cancelled and you have to play corporate mogul who leads a double life as a serial killer...but after 6-7

plus SG is notoriously known for HORRIBLE background actors...and NO DIRECTING...except for SGU

i dont want to sit here and write a dissertation on acting, so believe me or dont believe me when i say Torri Higginson has much more depth and is more dynamic with her character as Weir than Tapping is with her character as "Full Colonel Carter"

Portals to other worlds have been done before. False gods have been done before. And what are the chances that right after you defeat one false god, the Ori (another false god) comes along? Whereas SGA was quite original. Few movies have occured on Atlantis. I don't know if anyone has EVER done anything about a flying alien city.

that is what SG suffered from....and yes...apart from the decent B- to B+acting, there were disaster stories and scripts and lack of directing...

WE LOVE THE CONCEPT and the characterization by the actors...their chemistry is priceless...

and if the story line and script were not so inferior durning the 5th season, there would still be SGA...
