Men cheat for different reasons. 1. Is for variety and 2. Is bored with the one on hand. There are more but lets leave it at that. Women I think chase men who are taken because 1. They want to get treated good by a man and 2. Just like you said with your man , they want the man's good credit , good bank account good assets (gold diggers).

Chilvary is the reason men cheat and other women try to steal desirable men.

Women see men as income and a man sees a woman as an expense. The man with more $ can afford to be more chivalrous, women have shorter reproductive lives so the competiton for a mate is more cut throat. The man might as well sample variety and it doesn't matter if it cost him $ because in all likelihood is already paying for sex at home. Another reason for cheating is a woman whose gained weight over the yrs.

Me personally I subscribe to the Marc Rudov Nonsenseman theory of why men and women cheat. Chilvary- A man $ for sex with dates, chores, etc. subconsciously views his woman a whore and the woman views her man a trick.
