@kittytrumble13 Cantate Domino canticum novum (sing to the lord a new song, cantate domino omnis terra (sing to the lord all the earth), cantate domino, et benedicite nomini ejus ( sing to the lord and bless his name. Annuntiate inter gentes gloriam ejus (anounce his glory among the nations. In omnibus populis mirabilia ejus (his wonders among the people. and it is Italian.
@tasyateadeelee There are plenty of settings of the Cantate Domino text (it's just a Psalm), but this is most likely the same one you sang. It's probably just not as quick as lots of choirs tend to take it.
@renaissance27 It is indeed one to a part (though I think we may have done one or two of the voices a second time with the same person on the part). It was at the end of a rather long session, and the two tenors were coming off of a rather taxing rehearsal from the night before (hence the pitch issues and places where the voices are a bit out of control). For what it is though, we were happy.
but then again we dont sing ig the exact way that you guys did and our teacher kind of taught us wrong because she just figured out that it was pronounced anoon ad she was teaching us to sing anan
@jeanmolin55 In primo luogo, mi scuso per il mio italiano povero. I nomi dei coristi sono riportate modo che i nostri amici possono trovare i nostri video. Oltre a questo, speriamo di lasciare che la musica parli da sé. :-)
This song brings me fond memories in the past when I was in choir! Great vocals, great control, but I thought the dynamics weren't enough. Just my 2 cents worth. :)
@esthertjl Considering it's Renaissance, throwing dynamic changes around everywhere is stylistically wrong. There's a possible change when it moves to the "Et benedicite" section, and then a move back to the original when it leaves, but even that is entirely discretional and editorial. The beauty of Renaissance music came from the interweaving of parts and changes from duple to triple, NOT dynamic changes.
It was originally TTBB (Key of F), but is often performed SATB (usually transposed up a sixth to the key of D). A lot of choirs will rush through Renaissance stuff. I wouldn't want to take this piece much slower than this recording went, but too fast and it loses integrity.
Hha pretty sure everyone is singing this in choir(: I did today at a concert (: haha

Nulla,
l'insieme è armoniosamente solido e piacevole!
Annuntiate inter gentes gloriam ejus,
in ominbus populis mirabilia ejus.
Alleluia.
Buon Anno a tutti,
Buon Anno Françoise
