Lets just seperate the openly gays from the straight males, we can have "gays" only water fountains, and gays only buses, and so on and so forth... If you really look at the overall social rule that this policy exemplifies it is a notion of seperation. DADT allows for the seperation of straight from gays in the militrary by giving the possibility of eliminating them due to a factor of known exposure. If the supreme court decides to change the legal definition of marriage, then I'd be all for gays getting "married", but right now it's defined differently. The military shouldn't be practicing this kind of discrimination to appease the minority of homophobes in the military. That is wrong on every level!

This is a classic homophobic irrational fear. You are afraid that just because a person is homosexual, that they will be after you in close quarters? This is ridiculous! There are times when men and women in the military have to share close quarters while deployed and this doesn't seem to be a problem, so why is it different with gays? Sexual harrassment and sexual assualt is banned and punishable under all circumstances in the military, so what does it matter if someone is gay or straight?

Irrelevant! If you are uncomfortable with a gay being in the same room with you, then don't put yourself in that situation. Nobody is forcing you to join the military. But a gay who wants to defend their country shouldn't pe punished because of your insecurity and bigotry. Again, if you have a problem with gays, then the problem is YOU, not them! They have done nothing wrong and therefore have every right to serve.

The biggest problem with DADT is that those men who have husbands, or women who have wives; they can't inform the military that they have these relations, so their spouses can't be told that something has happened to them if something does happen. There have been gay men who have found out their husbands have died through the media which is NOT a good way to find out; it's not right.
