@TheChickenrun3 Films are at the point now where a few extra hours in the makeup chair isn't practical over a few hours of vfx later on. It allows them to get filming done much quicker and more efficiently.

that is a VERY good program or sony vegas works ok too but i recommend adobe after effects

@marneebox Adobe after effects would be combining the footage. I think they would use something like Autodesk Maya for the animation e.g. water, fire, environments etc. They could of used Z brush for the character rendering.. e.g. the giant spiders and giants.

But if you are looking for a solo program that does everything, I doubt you would find one. Most of the time, there are multiple software used to create certain aspects of the movie.

@marneebox Do you mean like a editing software? Just to combine footage and add sound etc? That would be Adobe Premiere, I think. Sorry I dunno exactly what they use. But I do have a rough idea, you would have to speak with a professional who actually does this kinda stuff for more indepth info lol, sorry.

I do know this however, a lot of the companies like Pixar actually develop their own software to render or edit stuff. So basically, it really depends on who you work for, it seems?

@marneebox some times for the best magical effects people use all the software they can find starting from windows movie maker for scenery or iMovie to render man wich is what pixtar uses in there edeting ...RENDER MAN ..look it up

What I love especially about the shot starting at 0:18, is that they could have much, much more easily just painted his hand black. LOL.

@mhafeez They probably decided a change of the look of dark on his hand would be destructive, if it was messed up on set.. But most people wouldn't have noticed anyway.

it is amazing how Daniel was such an amazing actor with such amazing manners and his politeness was very good but he ruined it all with his role of showing all in equus, smoking in real life, and doing that s*x scene in December Boys. I mean there are many actors that would do that and don't care but not you Dan. Go back to your old character Dan. We loved you much more that way.
