Thanks for that fascinating look at the old 405 gear. The footage from the Lichfield TX was paricularly interesting to me as I grew up in Lichfield, with a view of the TX out of my bedroom window. The AM audio from CH8 was that strong it used to break into all sorts of things. In the last few months of 405 line the picture was pretty ropey, I think they didnt bother fixing any faults because its days were numbered.
People must have been waiting with baited breath for the second engineering announcment of 1985... No doubt.

@kesterwww Well the end of the world's first fully electronic TV system - 405 lines - was a big event for those in the TV trade.
