What an incredible story. It is a testament to the breed and how, even after horrible abuse and cruelty, they can be rehabilitated and and aren't a risk to people or other dogs. I rescued a pit off the streets of St. Louis and my Harley is the sweetest, gentlest dog. A real lover-girl with a big smile that melts your heart. I'm so glad Dolly landed in the loving, healing arms of Erika. Erika and Dolly are both heroes.

Im a shelter volunteer in So Ca and I want to say "thank you" to you Erika for taking Dolly into your home, she is obviosly wonderful. I socialize pits every time I volunteer and never had a problem with any of them. Its usually the Chihuahuas that bark and act aggressively trying to be macho. Dogfighters are lazy assholes that should be in jail 5 yrs minimum mandatory.
I have a beautiful brindle pit bull, she is an awesome. I've had her 5 years now and she is a sweetie. She was also a rescue. Found living in a secluded pen in a back yard. No human contact, just throwing food to her. A sad and lonely dog. Now she is a funny ,lovable and a real joy. We love her.
I am ashame to be a human when I see what some horrible persons do to the animals. I cried, this video is beautiful but how people can do things like that. How? I have adopted also a puppy from the shelter instead of paying big bucks to a store. Do the same!

Pitbulls are the best dogs to have. Yes they are bred to be aggressive to OTHER DOG but are the kindest, gentlest people dogs you'll ever find. I have two of them, both rescues and they even defy the dog-aggressive stereotype because they get along just fine. They are the only dog I would allow around young children (supervised of course) because they are so tolerant and loving of people.
I am a nurse, and volunteer at a shelter as a veterinary assistant...and it is the many stories like Dolly's that compel me to spend 8-10 hours on my day off from my paying job. I have a house full of rescued animals (both dogs and cats), and they are family to me...I feel I owe it to them to help other animals that are not so lucky; as well as giving back to my community for a cause I truly believe in....
Thank you for saving this wonderful girl. My two dogs are just as much a member of my family as anyone else. Anyone who could treat another living, thinking, caring creature like that doesn't deserve to live among the rest of us.

After watching this I hugged my pittie and cried. She is a beautiful and strong girl. I can't believe there are people out there who are willing to be so horrible, then others turn around and call the dogs the monsters... I'm happy she had a happy ending.

@mutant1212 Aww. I agree, horrible things. My man was once abused and then dumped somewhere because he wasn't "mean" enough. The shelter almost didn't give him to me because they saw his badly cropped ears (home done) and assumed things about him.
He's now in training to become a therapy/educational dog.

After nearly 15 years with us, she's getting feeble and old. Got a "rescue" pup Boomer who "takes" care of her.

My friend rescued a fighting dog and when his dog met it and they fought, he yelled at the dog no, and the dog didn't do it EVER again. Just shows how much these dogs want to please the people they are with. I wish that girl the best of luck- Its sick that innocient animals like this are tortured every day. :( If I find a fucker doing somthing like this, I'll report them, or better yet put them in a pit with their own dogs. Doesn't matter how many times I watch this, I get weepy. What a beautiful girl even when she "not so pretty". My three dogs are all rescues. The two I got last year were 7 and 8 years old when they joined my life. My Cali had a not very good first 9 months. Now she is nearly 6. My 3 cats are all rescues as well. I wish more people would open their hearts and rescue. I also wish more people would speak up against abuse. I love your beautiful Dolly. Thank you for taking her in. :o)
I cannot believe the government and people believe Pit Bull's are vicious dogs. Dogs are people too, we treat them like our own. It is crazy to me how if one dog, pit bull or not attacks someone they have to be put down. But we have serial killers, rapists, child molesters etc that do these things to many people and they get jail time. Dogs and people are influenced by society. If you bring them up in a horrible environment with bad owners, what do you expect? Dogs arent the issue, people are.
My PB was also a bait dog, dropped off at the shelter with 2 ACL tears, pneumonia, starving and scared. She was a bait dog from the age of two weeks until someone took pity on her at four months old. She is the most loving and gentle dog I have ever had in my family. I'm so happy Dolly got another chance!

I just adopted Penny from a no kill shelter. She's now spayed, micro chipped and is up on all her shots. She is a TOTAL sweetheart. A gentle soul, who loves to just give kisses.

Dolly is a beautiful creature, I'm so thankful that she finally found a forever home that gives her the love she deserves! Pitt Bulls are not mean by nature. It's all in how you raise them. I have been in animal care for over 10 years and have dealt with more aggressive nasty Shih Tzus then Pitts. It's amazing that she could be so mistreated and still be gentle and loving. She truly is ambassador for her breed!

I've been living 2 states away from her for 3 years now and it tears me up inside I wasn't there when she passed, so this video was especially emotional for me. I don't have the lifestyle to give a dog the support and love it needs right now, but I am so glad there are people out there who do. Please, please keep doing the good work you do. Love this! Dolly is just precious. We adopted a rescued hound from GA (we live in VA) in February and he is the best dog in the world :) You did good - she's lovely!

After watching this I hugged my pittie and cried. She is a beautiful and strong girl. I can't believe there are people out there who are willing to be so horrible, then others turn around and call the dogs the monsters... I'm happy she had a happy ending.

@RoscoTheRat I did the same thing. Gave my girl a hug, a cookie, took her for a walk, and wrapped her in her blankie when we got back in from the cold. Horrible things people do their dogs.

@mutant1212 Aww. I agree, horrible things. My man was once abused and then dumped somewhere because he wasn't "mean" enough. The shelter almost didn't give him to me because they saw his badly cropped ears (home done) and assumed things about him.
He's now in training to become a therapy/educational dog.

I love Dolly. I love Erika. I love Pitbulls and all other animals. However, I HATE the humans that leave unkind posts on this video, and the humans that fight dogs. If anyone can watch this video without being affected (I can hardly stop crying), then I don't want to know that person and hope I never meet them. Thank you for posting this beautiful story of love.

What a beautiful video. Pitbulls continue to love in spite of the kind of cruelty that would turn most dogs. I have seen suspicious and aggressive Rotties, German Shepherds, Akitas, etc., but I have never met an aggressive pitbull.

Don't see how it can be disliked. I can see all to painfully how this abuse happens. My Sassy still looks like she's never forgotten the "Bad Place, Still carries the steel pin in her leg. After nearly 15 years with us, she's getting feeble and old. Got a "rescue" pup Boomer who "takes" care of her.

If dogs could talk, those coward basTURDS couldn't get away with such abuses. I want to know how much responsibility the former adoptive family holds for getting this dog and either fighting her OR not protecting/securing her safely to keep her from being used . . . ? Please tell me they were charged with SOMETHING! And Thank You for giving Dolly LIFE - NOT in a prison, but living proudly and peacefully. Merry Christmas!

I'm crying almost hysterically. Dog fighting is a heinous, disgusting crime, those people are killers. I don't understand what exists or better the devoid of compassion in people. As humans we are their guardians. All they want is to make us happy and to be loved. 2 pit bulls own me, they are beautiful, loving, loyal and gentle. Thank you Daniel, you are amazing. If I lived in Fl I'd be asking for the chance to work for your cause. Adopt a pittie, once you do they're all you'll ever want.

My friend rescued a fighting dog and when his dog met it and they fought, he yelled at the dog no, and the dog didn't do it EVER again. Just shows how much these dogs want to please the people they are with. I wish that girl the best of luck- Its sick that innocient animals like this are tortured every day. :( If I find a fucker doing somthing like this, I'll report them, or better yet put them in a pit with their own dogs. Sicko's good to see she healed up alright.

I'm sorry about what those evil people did to you Dolly! If I could have been there to protect you, I would've. I can't do much to make anything up to you, but I'm going to do whatever I can to help stop dog fighters. If I catch anyone fighting dogs, I'll fight them, even if its too the death. Or I'll just call the cops if I'm out numbered. I have never met you Dolly, but know that out there you have people like me that love you and your breed. You're life will be awesome from now on..

Doesn't matter how many times I watch this, I get weepy. What a beautiful girl even when she "not so pretty". My three dogs are all rescues. The two I got last year were 7 and 8 years old when they joined my life. My Cali had a not very good first 9 months. Now she is nearly 6. My 3 cats are all rescues as well. I wish more people would open their hearts and rescue. I also wish more people would speak up against abuse. I love your beautiful Dolly. Thank you for taking her in. :o)

I cannot believe the government and people believe Pit Bull's are vicious dogs. Dogs are people too, we treat them like our own. It is crazy to me how if one dog, pit bull or not attacks someone they have to be put down. But we have serial killers, rapists, child molesters etc that do these things to many people and they get jail time. Dogs and people are influenced by society. If you bring them up in a horrible environment with bad owners, what do you expect? Dogs arent the issue, people are.

My PB was also a bait dog, dropped off at the shelter with 2 ACL tears, pneumonia, starving and scared. She was a bait dog from the age of two weeks until someone took pity on her at four months old. She is the most loving and gentle dog I have ever had in my family. I'm so happy Dolly got another chance!

I just adopted Penny from a no kill shelter. She's now spayed, micro chipped and is up on all her shots. She is a TOTAL sweetheart. A gentle soul, who loves to just give kisses.

I'm a 28 year old male and you made me cry and I'm not ashamed. I've grown up with dogs my whole life and love them. There's no such thing as a bad breed in my opinion, but bad owners. Treat them right with love and how you would treat your kin and they will be more loyal than your own family. These dogs aren't evil, they get a bad rep because of their owners.

Coming form an owner of multiple pitbulls I hate seeing these videos, I dont know how many ignorant people asked me what kind of dog you have, I reply, a pitbull, there faces say it all like they are born fighters, abominations to the dog world, just cant stand people and there ignorance, ive owned 3 in my days (not counting all dog breeds) and they were hands down the most loyal loving dogs ive ever owned in my life (rip dakota, trixie, kibbles) PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED!

People who use defenseless animals for their amusement should be beat to death. Dolly is a beautiful creature, I'm so thankful that she finally found a forever home that gives her the love she deserves! Pitt Bulls are not mean by nature. It's all in how you raise them. I have been in animal care for over 10 years and have dealt with more aggressive nasty Shih Tzus then Pitts. It's amazing that she could be so mistreated and still be gentle and loving. She truly is ambassador for her breed!

This is such a sweet video. My parents just lost our dog of 15 years. I've been living 2 states away from her for 3 years now and it tears me up inside I wasn't there when she passed, so this video was especially emotional for me. I don't have the lifestyle to give a dog the support and love it needs right now, but I am so glad there are people out there who do. Please, please keep doing the good work you do. Please keep sharing your love with these beautiful creatures.
