bullshit and try to see how innovative their

green project is. The carbon tax is just a shift in taxes!! Less taxes on incomes and more on carbon...that mostly come from big polluters who are for the most rich. If you can try thinking about it, Oh, Yeah, less taxes for the poor and more for rich polluters...makes sense doesn't it.

I guess it just makes too much sense for Harper and his rich polluter friends from the tar sands companies. Right yingandtheyang???

We have a carbon tax in BC and there was an article in ne of the Vancouver based papers that stated that the Carbon tax will increase the gap between rich and poor. The tax cuts favor business and upper income earners ut lower paid workers and seniors on pensions will pay more and more.

All we need now is for the Cons to "promise" never to impose a carbon tax, just like they promised never to tax Income Trusts " the hard earned assets of seniors" in the last election.... then watch out. I wonder how many friends of the Liberals stand to benefit financially if they get a mandate for their so called `Green Shift.` Many of these green tech companies (friends of Al Gore I am sure) could strike it rich with this new environmental agenda.

ive done the math and i will get screwed under this plan like everyone else. if you live out west than prepare yourself for another trudeau-like national energy program which removes western wealth and places it in the heart of toronto. not to be outdone however will be the rural citizens of ontario who will also see their money end up in the pockets of torontonians. this plan calls for so much money going to the low income and rural areas that what will be the point of this plan?

Also, interesting that where these ads have been posted by the conservative party, they have disabled the comments. I posted a comment yesterday, before they did that, and it has disappeared. Interesting. And rather Orwellian. 3461167, how will "everything" cost more under this plan when we will only be taxed on home energy use? Its within your power to use less and be taxed less and still get a tax break. This is an incentive to use less. The program is to be revenue neutral.

I can clearly recognize that the conservative party wants no part of a clear and sensible debate on this subject matter. Attack ads might be entertaining but not too informative. The liberals might be late to the party but I'm glad they decided to show up. I don't think american style of politics will work here in CANADA.

Canada's conservative party is even more behind the times than the US conservatives. We have a PM who doesn't yet accept climate change and who still thinks that Rove style politics can fool the citizens.  The Conservatives, the "family values" party who doesn't mind screwing our children's future.

I can't understand why we should fault the party who is trying to do something positive about the environment. It might be late or considered to be too small of a step but at least its a movement. Childish attack ads or blind criticism without any realistic propositions to help solve the problem does no good at all.

You're saying the Liberals are trying to do something about the environment? Well it took Dion 18 months and several flip flops to come up with this latest tax plan ... and we still need to ask exactly how it will reduce GHG emissions. So far there's been no convincing answer to that.

By contrast the government's plan has been out for over a year, it has already come into effect, and its direct aim is to reduce emissions. Its not enough by some accounts, but still a step forward as you put it.
