  • Yes, one, of the very best. A real good and very emotional series. I love it. :-)

  • Still the best miniseries ever. Henry Mancini's music makes it a masterpiece. Such a beautiful but heartbreaking love story. Could watch this all day.

  • I remember my childhood...in a countryside that actually looks like New South Wales . I was so lonely and in love with a gorgeous man, who I knew I could never have. Me too,I pressed the hooky thorn to my breast...without wanting it.

  • It is so hard to believe that this movie is 28 years old. I remember when it came out in 1983. It's amazing how time flies. Life is so short, so I try to enjoy everyday and not waste time.

  • My favourite movie.................. I hate Ralph and all Ralph-like men. Career is always the most important thing for them.

  • True Love !!!

  • This movie was on Lifetime last week at 6 am EST. I stayed until 8 and watch it. I cried at the end when Dane died and when Ralph died in Meggie's arms. Good movie,

  • One of the best love stories and soundtracks ever, even now brings tears to my eyes.

  • i thought richard chamberlain was divine in this film!

  • @790766 I know what you mean. This was nexxt to ROOTS my all time favorite Mini-Series. Henry Mancini outdid himself with this Love Theme. Even David Foster couldn't compose a piece as beautiful as this.

  • @laminage yeah its beautiful..ive only just watched the whole series after years of my mum telling me to watch it. i love it..Also love the love theme to spartacus.Ive never seen roots..will have to watch that aswell x

  • They told me where to find you. :')

    What a voice!

  • To live a life with this memory makes the life a full one.

  • the best love story. i love it

  • MAGNIFIQUE SEQUENCE , music, reveries......sublimes acteurs....merci

  • MY FAVOURITE LOVE STORY OF ALL TIME! I FIRST WATCHED IT IN 1983, AND I STILL WATCH IT EVERY OPPORTUNITY EVERY TIME IT IS RESHOWN ON TV. THE MUSIC IS SO HAUNTING TOO. STILL NEVER FAILS TO BRING TEARS TO MY EYES.

  • I love how he looked at her when she came down the stairs LOL he was like dammm lol it was writing all over his face great acting he couldn't take his eyes off of her

  • I love this mini series!

  • Cette musique est magnifique !!! J'adore!!

  • I adored Meggie. She was my beloved. The colour and shape of her hair, her glance, her voice that some others dislike. I grew up with Meggie as a model of a woman. I have my hair like hers eversince. My mum and I used to watch the series happily whenever was on tv no matter how many times we had watched it before and, now, after two decades since I first watched it, I don't really understand nor remember how I was able to manage after the final scenes with Ralph, and Meggie alone.

  • My favourite scene.

    Real love, forever, 'till death.

I guess, I need to find and read book now.

  • questo film mi è rimasto nel cuore!

  • non ho mai visto un attore gay recitare in un modo così realistico una scena d'amore con una donna.grandissimo attore richard chamberlain

  • My rale name is Meggie

My English is not so good.

    I'm from Holland.

  • Un des meilleurs passage du film .......Tellement d'Amour et de souffrance ......... Tout spécialement pour Emy

  • Un des meilleurs passage du film ..........Tellement d'Amour et de souffrance .........J'Adore

  • To hell with religion..I am just here for Rachel Ward's huge tits at 3;23

  • I read the book. At this moment on Mattock Island, Meggie was completely nude.

  • For those fanatic christians who come here to breach bs,,go somewhere else to spout your religion,if you can call it that,,it's really a bed story after all,,,someone was crucified for your idiocy,,I mean com'on,,what a juvenile story.

  • You are half brained. Your Jesus story is laughable and doens't fly with smart guy like me. You are so stupid and weak and that's why you believe in such kids bed time story.

  • The vile blasphemy pouring out of your profane pie hole is like a torrent of festering, putrid, fecal puss oozing out of a filthy open sewer...

I would pray for your immortal soul if not for fear of contaminating the integrity of my own soul in the process of doing so...

YOUR ARE ALREADY DAMNED TO THE ETERNAL HELLFIRE OF HADES!!! (kind sir...)

  • And I thought fanatics are only found in the middle east.

  • "And I thought fanatics are only found in the middle east."

HOW DARE YOU ACCUSE ME OF SWEARING AN ALLEGIANCE TO THE UNHOLY DEMON ARMIES OF ALLAH!!!

  • There is nothing holly about you either. Your Jesus came from a cunt of a woman.

Think really deep about that one.

  • "Your Jesus came from a cunt of a woman."

AT THE END OF DAYS, THE DARK LORD WILL RIP THE SINFUL SKIN FROM YOUR BLASPHEMOUS BODY, TEAR YOUR TREACHEROUS TONGUE OUT, AND THROW BOTH OF THESE VILE, VISCERAL, VASCULAR VERMIN TO THE VORACIOUS HOUNDS OF HELL!!!

  • DAMN YOU TO HELL!!! (kind sir...)

  • This movie is Holy. Even the beach scene. It should be used as a conversion tool for Christianity. It transmits the Spirit of Jesus more successfully anything else I have seen on TV, especially Mel Gibson's failed Passion.

  • "This movie is Holy"

Servant of Lucifer, I see through your lies.

GET BACK TO THE DEMON'S LAIR THAT SPAWNED YOU!!!

  • That was terrible. Has anyone read the book? This miniseries should be redone and they should let you in on the thoughts of Meggie and Ralph during this scene, because that is what makes it intense.

  • EXCELLENT MOVIE!!!!!

  • Mycoginsits - grow up|!!

  • c'est la chanson qu'on a pris pour le mariage d'audrey et jerome, lorsqu'ils font leur entrée dans la synagogue...quel moment!!

  • HOW DARE YOU!!!

  • I think Hammersley1967 brings an intersting and exciting perspective to this. BUT, the bottom line is Rachel Ward = delicious and Father Ralph WAS a really really good shag. He would say a quick Mass on Sunday morning then pop over to Megs and give her a bloody good case of whiplash, spend himself three or four times all afternoon, before ducking back for evening Mass. A slow session of gentle mutual heavy petting would follow in the twilight. Lovely. Should have called it The Horn Birds.

  • Wait till Hammersley1967 reads what you have to say. I can't say he'll be very happy.

  • What you have said is an blasphemy of the highest order - not against Christians, but against the entire Holy Trinity...

HOW VERY, VERY DARE YOU (SIR) !!!

  • Hemmersley69er. You are getting me very aroused. I pray to the Holy Father that all the Saints and the Virgin Herself will come unto thee and join thee in Holy Congress if you know what I mean, and I think you do, right in the heart of your next wet dream, you dirty fellow.

  • HOW DARE THEE ATTEMPT TO LEAD ME INTO TEMPTATION!!!

Slave of Beelzebub, get back to the demon's lair that spawned you!!!

  • Oooh I love it when you talk Holy. Gives me the effin orn.

  • You are sexualising the sacred discourse of God?

YOU ARE SEXUALISING THE SACRED DISCOURSE OF GOD!!?

    THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!! (sir)

  • Father Ralph was just showing Meg the love of Jesus as well as a good nine inches of fleshy pleasure.

  • Don't let Hammersley scare you. I"m sure he's just a big pussy shooting some steam off where no one can catch him. As for being raped by a priest, well, who hasn't been raped by a priest?

  • This is the absolute best movie ever. I've never seen Roots and from what I hear Roots is the only movie that had more viewers then TTB's did. That all has to do with the superb acting of all the actresses and actors on TTB's. I'll never get tired of watching it. I need to start working on the scrapbooks I'm making from the photos that I've purchased over the last 2 years and also magazine clippings.

  • The second greatest scene of any movie ever...I often debate which is more incredible this or the one in the Notebook in the lake in the rain. This love might have been wrong but it was so real. So real in fact I named my daughter Megan and call her Meggie. Its just simply incredible the passion these two have...makes me cry forever and a trillion years if I think about it.....

  • mysticalwind72 -

I'm late to the party, but I liked your comment and agree with you. The best love scene in a movie is a toss up between this one and the Notebook. To me, The Thornbirds was the best miniseries ever made for TV. I like the name "Meggie" for a girl. It's very pretty. There's a million Megans it's a very traditional and popular name, but Meggie is rare. Good idea to call your daughter Meggie.

  • Thank you for your reply. It always gets me the part where she says you will be the last thing I think of this side of my grave. The greatest minieries ever made. Also one of the greatest books of all time. My daughter Meggie is alot like Meggie in the movie. very independent.

  • But after all, we knew that he was the Brokeback Mountain's priest.

  • This is a great programme but I will never understand how gay men can act straight in movies.

  • la escena mas bella que se haya echo jamas!!

    very,very good!!

  • this beautiful tragedy drama film was shot on location at Ke'e beach in Kauai, Hawaii.

  • There are many many beautiful women.. in the world.. but Rachel Ward... has always been at the top of my list. Her strength, independence, lonliness, loyalty and yearning for passion makes most men everywhere agree she is what we want.

  • Rachel Ward was, hands down, the MOST beautiful woman ever.

She was absolutely stunning in this movie.

  • My Robin... how I wished embracing you would not be sin. Why must I be condemned to choosing between you and the cross? In either choosing the cross or choosing you, I am being selfish. Perhaps by choosing neither I am being selfish, too. This is my hell and my damnation.

  • My dear friend,

God has created us to be together as one man and one woman. Only the rules of men, not God, has seperated us. Holy Scripture dose not condone the rules of the Catholic priesthood in marriage... Only the rulse of men keep us from loving eachother as God intended. Seek the Scriptures for yourself. Men and women are created to be together with God's blessing. My prayers are with you.

  • My Robin... Oh how I wish... sorry.

  • I love the first thing that comes of of her mouth when Ralph arrives at the beach."Damn You, NO More" Most romantic love scene of all times! This surpassed the beach love scene from "Here to Eternity",starring Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr.

  • god bless you rachel ward

  • I could watch this movie over & over & Over...

    I love Father Ralph.

    He looks sexy, lol. ;)

  • love this film have watched it so many times and always makes me cry, i was lucky enough to get the box set at a boot sale for an amazing£1.00 and have watched it all today whilst the rain poured down outside, an absolute epic of a love story, will love it forever, even had the theme tune at my wedding. lol

  • please Where is that scene ? what the name is this beach?

  • wunderschöne szene..gänsehaut,,püh,hab den film noch auf vhs.

  • The most beautiful love story that I ever seen.

  • The book is great! I love it!

  • I loved the book too.The one thing that was different in the mini series was that Luke and Father Ralph looked alike. If Richard Chamberlain would have played the duel role, Rachel would never had met her Bryan. That's fate.

  • It is a fact that people are not made to suffer long term, their body and mind are made to isolate the pain and to get over it asap - survival technic really. When a person hurts for that much time (like Maggie), actively hurts, I think they linger in that place of memories and feelings, they do not want to forget and move on and let go...just my opinion....but i loved that movie, all time romance novel!!!

  • This movie shows that persons who can actually love are unlucky. God doesn't give them the opportunity to love deeply someone.

  • I disagree...they both had the chance and opportunity, I believe Ralphs sin was not loving Meggie, it was his ambition. He wanted to advance in the church more than he wanted to be true to his feelings. Therefore he could give all of himself to neither.

  • You're right, but I was talking about Meggie. Ralph did what he wanted, because he did love God and the Church. Meggie was never given the chance to love someone, instead.

  • Very true, she loved him and only him with all her heart. When she tried to replace that by marrying someone else, it just brought her more pain.

  • That's exactly right! Father Ralph knew that Mary Carson in her original Will left her entire estate to Paddy. Mary Carson changed her Will the night before she died leaving everything to the RC Church. Her lawyer said "let's destroy this Will and give that money to Paddy". Father Ralph refused because he was greedy, he wanted to become a hirachy in the church. Father Ralph didn't love God, the church or Meggie. Father Ralph was selfish, he loved only HIMSELF!

  • I AGREE..

  • Very well put !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You've got that pegged good.

  • A voir et à revoir inoubliable ca c est de l Amour le vrai

  • Meggie Cleary = beautiful.

  • è per questo che son film

  • It's one of favorite scene !! thank you

  • Thank you! Thank yoy very much for this film!

  • I love this movie! This one of my all time favorites that never really got the credit it deserved

  • ...Megan had so much love to give, but she was not given the chance. This is real love

  • what are u all on about its non fictional but yet the capture of a preist who loved a young girl who was clearly unloved anyway. He discovered a forbidden love that was always there

  • omg what are u all on about this is the ultimate passion between religon and nothing as always love conquers all. and it always will understand the film

  • Oh my God. Is it just me or is Hammersley1967 really being a pain!

  • No, it's just you - Servant of Satan!!!

  • Hehe, haha, HAHAHA. I can't stand how utterly hilarious you are :P

  • SCUM!!!

  • Your condition is worse than I thought. LOL

  • I am a devoted and loyal Christian soldier who is sworn to vanquish evil wherever I see it!!!

  • Hammersley1967: I am a dedicated Christian too, but I really don't think the best way to spread the gospel is yelling at people on youtube. Our Lord Jesus didn't go around screaming at people; He called us to, above all else, love. Besides, it's not us who vanquishes evil - it is God Himself.

qasion: I'm not sure what you mean by Jesus being "crucified for your idiocy". That wasn't derisive, I really don't understand what you mean - please clarify. =)

  • At the End of Days, when you and I are seated at the right hand of the Lord, we will watch with glee as these SALIVATING, SACRILEGIOUS SOCIOPATHS ARE CAST DOWN INTO THE ETERNAL HELLFIRES OF HADES, WHERE THEY WILL HAVE THEIR SINFUL SKIN TORN FROM THEIR BLASPHEMOUS BODIES AND HAVE THEIR HERETICAL TONGUES TORN OUT AND THROWN TO THE VORACIOUS HOUNDS OF HELL!!!

  • Hammersley1967: Seeing people burn in Hell is not something to rejoice about. God does not rejoice, for He loves everyone - including every person on this board. We should grieve that many don't believe.

The greatest commandment is to "love the Lord your God" and secondly to "love your neighbour as yourself." Don't be like the Pharisee in Jesus' parable, so self-assured that he looked down on the tax collector, blind to his own faults. I encourage you to read Luke 7:36-50.

  • THEY WILL PAY FOR THEIR BLASPHEMY!!!

  • Read Hammersley 1967 profile. He gave his virginity to a priest so he therefore believes that homosexuality is ok even tho the Bible says differently. He needs to be hospitalized and go through some very intense therapy to try and undo what the priest did to him mentally. I refuse to even respond to him when he reply's to any of my responses. He's someone that needs some very serious help.

  • What a nice fuckin rack at 3:23

  • Ralph: Rachael Ward = Heaven.

  • ..why do u comment something u do not even know what it is ...

  • How dare you!!!

  • Try watching the movie or reading the book. They are discussing what it's all about. They're not making up a story line. The story line has already been written.

  • So you support advocate the rape of a priest by a whore?

HOW VERY, VERY DARE YOU MADAME!!!

  • For one thing you need to take the time to either read the book or watch the movie or both. Father Ralph WASN'T

  • Your blasphemy is like a filthy sewer oozing its festering puss all over the purity of the Lord's divine grace....

  • Mr Hammersley 1967. I ruley think you are being a bit to serious about all this. I think that 5 hours ago must have been about 3:49am in the morning, which means you have nothing better to do when you should be sleeping. Rape is a serious word and I can't see that you even now what it means. Ar you sure you evn red the book properly. OK!

  • BLASPHEMY!!!

  • I'll definitely be praying for your soul. As we see it you can't even distinguish REALITY from play acting. I don't cuss, drink or use illegal drugs. Enough of you could sure make me do all those things.

Where do you put the author of the book Colleen McCullough in all this? Or, how about Henry Mancini that composed the music for the movie? What about ABC that showed it on TV during Prime Time? Or even Lifetime for showing it recently? I'll send you a copy of the book and movie......

  • "I'll definitely be praying for your soul."

    My soul is intact Jezebel!

SAVE YOUR PRAYERS FOR YOUR DARK LORD OF HADES!!!

You will certainly meet him soon!!!

  • I'll try again. READ THE BOOK OR WATCH THE MOVIE!!!! Until then keep your mouth shut and stop commenting on TTB's. Father Ralph WASN"T raped. He went looking for her on an island. She did not tell him where she was going to be. If anything, HE RAPED HER. She told him "DAMN YOU, NO MORE" and was running away from him and he ran after her and grabbed her arm and threw her down on the beach. HE then chose to have sex with her................. GEESH grow up why don't you????????????

  • "HE RAPED HER"???

You are now accusing the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church of RAPE!!?

FORGET NOT THE EIGHTH COMMANDMENT JEZEBEL!!!

At the End of Days, I will be seated at the right hand of the Lord and watch with glee as he casts you into the Eternal Fires of Hades...

  • I'm not accusing any Holy Man of rape. I'm accusing the character of Father Ralph played by Richard Chamberlain of rape. Just think, the priest in the movie that became a Cardinal was played by a homosexual. And, yes.....he ran after Meggie and grabbed her arm and took her down to the sand and wouldn't let her go until she gave in..... At lease we're not accusing anyone of anything that wasn't done. you're accusing all of us of something that was done in a movie, again: GEESH - GROW UP!!!!!

  • "I'm accusing the character of Father Ralph played by Richard Chamberlain of rape"

    THERE!!! YOU SAID IT!!!

You have born false witness upon your neighbour!

A clear violation of the 8th Commandment!!!

PROOF POSITIVE THAT YOU ARE INDEED A DEVOTED SOLDIER OF SATAN!!!

  • Because I accused a "story" character of something? My land, it's a character in a story!!!!! It's not a real person...................... Why don't you do what you need to do there in Australia and leave the rest of us alone. Stay in the sesspool of a brain of yours. Have you ever written to Colleen McCullough and tell her how you felt about what she wrote? We didn't write the book, she did. And, she lives in Australia. Did you know that?

  • [1]

Have I written to Colleen McCullough!!?

HAVE I WRITTEN TO COLLEEN McCULLOUGH!!?

Let me tell you something about that WHORE

    OF SATAN!!!

It was back in 1989 and I was enrolled in my first year of a Bachelor of Arts degree (majoring in theology) at Notre Dame University (WA). A recommended elective unit was "Social Commentary in Film" and I unwittingly enrolled in this perverted tripe.

  • [2] I was repeatedly forced to view such vile cinematic refuse as "A Clock Work Orange" and "Mad Max" and, whilst highly offended, I kept my Christian mouth shut in the name of compassion and tolerance. Well, after six weeks of this, I was "treated" to a 4 hour screening of this "Thorn Birds" filth followed by a 2 hour lecture by a so called "fellow countryman" and the architect of this blasphemous debris - Colleen McCullough.

  • [3] By the end of the screening, I was already infuriated and was barely containing myself. However, when that heretical harlot was asked the question "Why did Meggie keep going back to Ralph?" and she (McCullough) replied "Because he was such a f---ing great lay" - this was over the line and I lost my composure completely. I stood up like a loyal, devout Christian soldier and bellowed "HOW DARE YOU DEFILE THE NAME OF MY LORD AND SAVIOUR!!!"

  • [4] What happened next completely shocked me, and even to this day I find it hard to believe. Four security guards immediately pounced on me, wrestled me to the ground, tazered me and capsicum sprayed me. I was then handed over to the police, who arrested and charged me with "causing a public disturbance" and "trespassing". I was then expelled from the University. ME!!! I DID NOTHING!!! Meanwhile, this literary whore-monger of Satan gets off Scot free!!!

  • At least I've been happily married for over 35 yrs. You're in Australia and haven't had anything better to do but to watch 16,576 Videos here on YouTube. And that was all with in 1 year. Evidentally no one can put up with your crap so you have to spend your days and nights very lonely and spend all your time trying to raise Hell on YouTube. Maybe it's time to report you to YouTube!!! Who do you think you are calling me or anyone else names? Try reading all of the Ten Commandments.

  • I am on a spiritual crusade to rid the earth of all perverted, heretical filth...

STARTING WITH THESE DIRTY, FILTHY, LYING, BLASPHEMOUS VIDEOS!!!

  • How in the world can a video be called "lying"? It's story!!!!!! You've lost touch with reality. How do you think attacking us that all we are doing is discussing a movie/book. We're not the ones that wrote the book or wrote the movie script. Attackinjg us will get you no where. If you were on such a crusade you'd be attacking the author of such books that movies are made from.

Are you a Catholic? Being a Catholic won't get you into heaven. You must be a born again Christian.

  • LIAR!!!

  • I completely agree with you. I think Hammersley1967 has completely missed the point. I do agree with him that the priest man was raped by the whore and that the author is being extremely blasphemous. But you are right about him using Utube as a crusade. He shouldn't be doing that. I don't believe these movies should be made or shown on tv or utube either. He does make some very good points, but he should take a chill pill man.

  • I do not see Father Ralph being raped by Meggie. Mainly because she was on an island trying to get her life back in order when out of the blue Father Ralph shows up. She tells him "NO MORE" and starts running away from him. He chases her and grabs her arm and takes her down to the ground and starts kissing her. If anything he raped her. To call Meggie a whore is totally wrong. Up to this point she had only had sex with her husband. . Hammerlsey1967 stay out of this.

  • "Hammerlsey1967 stay out of this."

The only way that I will let go of ridding the world of this libelous and blasphemous blight on the Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church is if it is prised from my cold dead hands...

JEZEBEL, BEWARE THE WRATH OF THE HOLY FATHER!!!

  • shut the fuck up u fool! and get the hell out of here...

  • I think you've stirred up Mrs Hammersley1967 again. (I'm assuming she's a girl). I'm in no doubt that movies like the thorn birds should not be made. They demonstrate that it's ok to be a whore and try to lure a priest for sex. I mean I guess its what all girls want is to be able to lure in men. I mean that's why God made them that way. But to do it to a priest is unthinkable in my view. But for the love of God, Hammersley1967 give it a rest why don't you. Coming from a woman you should chill.

  • I did some reading on Hammersley1967 (he is a HE) personal page here at YouTube. He is so fired up and against all of this because HE was raped by a priest and because of his rape by a priest he is now a homosexual. And because of this happening in HIS life he's now out to get all books and movies destroyed. It's not our fault of what happened to him. He is needing some serious conseling with a Christian counselor. I enjoy reading and always have. It was/is my escape from the real world.

  • That was in 1981and the priest that consummated his love for me assured me that it was a holy union between him, me and God!!!

HOW DARE YOU DEFILE THE BEATIFICATION OF FATHER SLATTERY AND HIS SACRED UNION WITH MY MIND, BODY, AND SOUL WITH YOUR DIRTY, FILTHY, SLANDEROUS INNUENDOS!!!

  • But Meg didn't rape Ralph any more than you raped Fr Slattery. Love is love and friction is friction.

  • The sacrilegious filth oozing from your grimy, profane, heretical cake hole is deplorable....

    SCUM!!!

  • So tell us more about Fr Slattery. I think we might be making some real progress here if only we can stay on track.

  • Father Slattery was the finest example of the human incarnation of the Christian ethic!!!

YOU AND THE REST OF THESE SALIVATING SACRILEGIOUS SOCIOPATHS ON THIS THREAD ARE NOT FIT TO LICK THE DUST OFF HIS CASSOCK!!!
