  • Zowie! Where's the science? Did you explain why vinegar was used? Would baking soda work? What does the salt do? What's the minimum voltage that will work? Could you use "root killer," aka blue vitriol or copper sulfate?

How does wrapping in plastic wrap help it dry? You're keeping the air away from it.

Does the mass loss of the penny match the weight gain of the quarter? Will any copper ever appear on the quarter with no electricity as you imply?

    Science is about asking questions.

  • turning quarters into pennys how bout the other way around we could be rich!

  • you can accually turn lead into gold, its just impractical and hard

  • Are you Edward Elric?

  • mine came out ble :3

  • can tis be reversed, i.e. coating pennies with nickel?

  • Gold ingawt

  • can you so this with a circuit board from an old phone?

  • oh no i cant find a penny

  • Can you electroplate with gold? I want to make a gold quarter.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheVJackV Yes, you can. But then you need a soluble gold compound, like a salt.

  • @iasedu Cool! Thank you!

  • In the thumbnail it looked like you were holding a iron ingot from Minecraft

  • @WapooshX

    "AN iron ingot"

  • Can you wire a wire around the cup what has the substance inside and make it into a good eletro magnet?

  • If you use a gold dollar, would the other coin turn gold?

  • Actually the changing of lead to gold has been done. It wasn't done through alchemy though. They discovered it when they were replacing the lead linining in a Russian nuclear generator. It was done by accident, but it was done. The gold quality on the other hand was rather poor. It was revealed several years back in a report about those generators.

  • you can't turn lead to gold, but you can turn mercury to gold :)

  • @arsonistinurfirewall

What i meant is i want to know if it will produce chlorine gas

  • @soadftfw because of chlorine gas?

  • @SoadFtfw I'd think more along the lines of drinking it would kill you.

  • can this kill you

  • @SoadFtfw

    Anything can kill you.

I can be killed by tissue paper in some circumstances.

  • Or you could use copper sulfate instead of vinegar... That'll work much better

  • y u no have transmutation

  • you could use HCl instead of vinegar

  • @thegamerking97

this is meant to be an easy project... you'd need to be like a chemistry teacher to get hydrochloric acid.

  • @SFhelper Swimming pool supply store-Muratic acid=HCL acid.

  • @Skizzy1976

don't have a pool, wouldn't have known about that.

  • You only need 55 magic for alchemy tho

  • @TheSpinkyMan I love runescape :3

  • Actually it was proven that you can turn lead into gold by changing the number of protons and electrons.

  • @theFLCLguy

and just how would one change the protons?

  • @ColterDewitt I think the used radiation to do it.

  • @ColterDewitt Probably the same way they turn Uranium into Plutonium.

  • @ent2186

Why do that when uranium decays into plutonium anyways?

  • @SkatinLanc Because it needs to be irradiated in a reactor to get usable quantities?

  • @ent2186 Y AM I SAYING THAT WHY ARENT WE USING THORIUM YET.

  • i done this in science class and said, White Can Become Black. no pun intended for michael hackson. whoops. i ment jackson.

  • I HAVE THE VINEGAR! I HAVE THE SALT! I HAVE THE BATTERY! WTF I THOUGH IT WAS AA :(

  • @CBOGAMING he said you could use a 1.5v witch is a AA AAA D C it will just take longer

  • can you turn a penny into a dollar coin?

  • lame did this when i was 13 come on.

  • @rikskelton138 well i think many people didnt...

  • nice way to introduce the warning salt and vinegar make a acid about as strong as hydrochloric acid

  • you can turn coal into diamonds but industrial diamonds arnt wort that much

  • @wearallgamers why do i think about minecraft reading your comment

  • @minigunuser25 because you are playing minecraft too much

  • 130% powered by wind energy? hows that possible? are they russians ?

  • @Mladamas No they are Norrises

  • Watch the video of Nurdrage he turned pennies into gold.

  • if i used something gold plated, and tried to electroplate a penny instead of a quarter, could i make a REAL gold plated penny?

  • @doomsong11 Yeah!

  • I used fingernail plaster remover that work to

  • Ah, so that's why there are weirdly colored coins in circulation!

  • faek

  • @THExXKuBa Troll

  • That's a silver quarter.....

  • @Tumbaburro7 that joke stopped being funny months ago

  • @liandroZanetti when did he posted this comment?

  • @depcking2 nope

that joke stopped being funny loooong time ago more than 1 month

  • will this work if you replace the copper with gold and the quarter with lead?

  • @frizzykid100 i know that, but they combined 2 elements to equal the atomic number of gold, which somehow produced gold. I'm not sure how it happened, but it did.

  • Actually, scientists just MADE gold. they combined 2 elements (not sure what they were, but one was lead) and under intense amounts of pressure, fused them together to make gold.

  • @animalabbie76 Gold isnt a Combinations of elements. gold is element AU on the periodic table,

  • @frizzykid100 if you fuse two elements in a particle accelerator you can create other elements, including gold. its how we discover the super heavy elements on the periodic table.

  • @kght222 Im not doubting you, at all, because this came up today during class. But, why dont we just make ton's of gold then?

  • @frizzykid100 because its insanely expensive and takes massive amounts of energy. you can only make a few atoms or less at a time. what they really use the technology for is to create super heavy elements that are short lived, so don't exist in nature (or at least when produced in nature degrade in second) so that they can study the properties of those elements.

  • Turn your penny's into quarters not the other way around

  • Thats why i get my chage so dirty ..damn you scientists lol jk

  • its working i am doing it right now i am on my ipad useing 9 v batery

  • how long does it take for a quarter to change

  • i have a 100 percent copper tube

  • Hey you can turn graphite to diamonds

    and uranium to lead

  • you do know that defacing money is a federal crime :O

  • coinstudy. com that 1945 quarter is worth $5.43 minimum

  • how do you turn a dollar bill into $10

  • who cumed to your hair?

  • @MrPuertoRicanBeauty Dylan Hart, or The House Hold Hacker, is a little bit fat, but that doesnt matter, because this guy is a brilliant bastard.

  • Vinegar salt

  • That Quarter was silver, 90% so was the half dollar!

  • and it can also be used with circuit etching

  • You actually CAN turn lead into gold. But it takes WAYYY too much money for it to be practical.

  • what about AC power? if i have AC power do i put the copper in the positive or the negative?

  • so use a Dime to coat a penny and you got a 10 cent penny

  • i found a few pennies from 1903 and when i used them the entire penny dissolved. it made the quarter i used look like a giant penny.

  • could i coat some lead with gold

  • o man i dont have any coins :(

  • @1111naruto1111 destroying currency isn't illegal. As long as you are not attempting to counterfeit it, you're ok.

  • A too expensive experiment. People can usually buy a 9 volts battery. I rather save my penny. up for the poor

  • i used a copper wire a fifty cent and and a 18 volt battery and sulfuric acid and it took about 10 seconds to copper plate it

  • i hooked it up with a 9 v and im going to let it sit 4 an hour or 2

  • i just destroyed my bicentenial quarter

  • what he is doing here is illegal he is destroying US currency which is illegal

  • Modern Alchemy = Chemistry

  • Is this guy fat or does he just have a big chin?

  • @airgearbleachfan lol me too

  • can this work with gold?

  • Actually in a nuclear reactor somewhere they apparently observed some lead being turned in to gold. It was very small scale (we're talking mere molecules of it) but it still apparently happened. Not through alchemy sure, but through it's successor, modern day science.

  • my dad has lots of 1945 quarters

  • DUDE THATS A 1945 QUARTER! THATS 90% SILVER!

  • hey what would happen if you used two pennies or even switched the pennies out half way through the process would that plate the quarter even more?

  • Lol I tried this with 30 volts, it coated coin in 20 seconds.

Btw, if you leave it to long and it turns black, leave it outside and it will get greenish looking

  • So if I'd use sulfur acid the process'd go much faster...

  • What if you switch the quarter and penny around? will the penny turn silver?

  • @tylerwaltz26 yes

  • @tylerwaltz26 No, because the copper is further up the reactivity procession. I think nothing will happen, but im not sure.

  • @tylerwaltz26 Yes.

  • Lead has been turned into Gold, it just that the process is worth more then the end product gives you :)

  • so you coverd silver with copper..... ok

  • Can i do this with my australian currency?

  • only copper, silver, gold and platinum can actually plate somthin in an aqueous solution

  • Your a genius...

  • @AqwHunterCurtis This is just chemistry. I had at at school last year. U calling him a genius for that is really funny xDD.

  • the 50 cent piece is also silver. a franklin half dollar. and a silver quarter.

  • HouseholdHacker showing youtubers how to make fake jewelry every view

  • Holy shit I could make a golden penny

  • this is similar to electrolysis... its awesome!

  • we actually did this in school a couple of years ago

  • no salt bridge?

  • household hacker, you used a 90% percent silver quarter as an anode. that was worth about $5. now it is worthless.

  • @theyolkwebshow Nothing like a $5 quarter... you can get so much money!

  • Quarters are racist. If it's white it's good, if it's black it's bad!!!!

  • I found a Nickel in my sock

  • full metal ALCHEMIST brotherhood!!!

  • I would love to buy stuff with a black quarter

  • Great...I just lost an arm and a leg....

  • @afms93 And I just lost my body. :(

  • @afms93 I see what you did there Ed...

  • do you have to clap your hands before you start the process ?

  • No transmutation circles?

  • He ought to put up another video showing some less basic level electroplating. That would be cool.

  • HE BLINKED!!!!!

  • *sigh* you fool. turning lead into gold is extremely possible BUT it costs more to do so than just buy gold.....it costs alot more...as in like thousands of dollars more

  • @DaisyDogBLURAY a gold bar is like 27 mill.. turn a lead bar into a golden bar for a thoudand pounds? yes please

  • May I drink it?

  • soo whats the point??

  • @ouzododeka this can actually be done with more valuable substances and form "waste" substances including platinum, silver and gold so it can be a good thing but it's quite expensive.

  • mine worked ocmpletely the opposite way

  • You actually CAN turn lead into gold... You just need a nuclear fission generator.

  • @Gmanster64 Nuclear Transmutation :D

  • its gonna work even wiithout electricity

  • I left it in too long and my penny is gone!

  • i did this in 6th grade lol

  • what if you had a 1943 cent. those never were made with copper.

  • if i sell this thing for 52 cents i can get 2 quarters and 2 pennies then do it again then sell both for 104 cents and keep going and you'll be rich!!

  • @megasonicgeo troll physics

  • @zeipherx1 lol thats true XD

  • wut if we hook up the wires on the wrong ones does the penny turn silver?

  • @megasonicgeo 1st the quarter is not made of silver. 2nd the penny transfers its copper however the quarter can only receive it not give off its own metal. that is my hypothesis based on what he has said.

  • @freakomation i didn't mean the actual substance i meant just the color

(lol i sound like a nerd )((cuz i kind of am XD))

  • @megasonicgeo same answer

  • @freakomation i wish i had those wires lol it would be worth 26 cents

  • @freakomation It's a 1945 quarter, it is made of silver. Look it up

  • so if we had swapped the places of the quarter and penny, would the penny be coated with whatever the quarters made of?

  • NOW MAKE A HUMAN! BUT YOU WILL NEED A TRANSMUTATION CIRCLE, A TON OF ROOM, LITTLE BROTHER(THE PROCESS WILL COST YOU AN ARM AND A LEG AND HIM HIMSELF), AND FINALLY SOMETHING THAT TURNS MY CAPS LOCK OFF BECAUSE IT IS STUCk.

  • @freakomation this is also what yull need along with that Water, 35 liters Carbon, 20 kilograms Ammonia, 4 liters Lime, 1.5 kilograms Phosphorous, 800 grams Salt, 250 grams Saltpeter, 100 grams Sulfur, 80 grams Fluorine, 7.5 grams Iron, 5 grams Silicon, 3 grams And trace amounts of 15 other elements. i remember it by heart <3 i plan on doing it ಠ_ಠ
  • @mrDarkmage459 NNNOOOO! It will cost you an arm, a leg, and your sibling. are you also willing to kill an entire city just for one Philosopher's Stone? Geez, and i thought "place any name here" was bad.

  • @freakomation those are the ingriedients of a human body if you knew fma you would know thats what you need along with your ingriedients

  • @mrDarkmage459 i ment those along with the others. i remember the first episode or whichever one they mentioned it in very clearly.

  • now stick your dick in the cup

  • So does this mean that I have a 26cent quarter?? SWEET!

  • @RockUmagic

    It isn't a quarter anymore bitch. ಠ_ಠ

  • @RockUmagic puarter

  • @Xxxxswitchbladexxxx no copper is valueless now but is at an all-time high for it's metal kind of ironic

  • wait.. arent copper prices high? so theroeticaly, i could get millions of pennys and do this to like a nail, scrape it off and have copper??
