  • Jamie Foxx is one of the most talented men alive. It makes me want to die, just to see Ray Charles play one tune. Such amazing talent. I hate to sound like one of those people who says "I wish I was living in another generation!" But, man, how is LMFAO considered music?

  • the bestt cover of ray charles i ever seen.....

  • What part of the movie is this from?

  • When Ahmet Ertegun (Curtis Armstrong) suggests that Ray try playing "Mess Around," which Ahmet has just written, Ahmet describes it as being in the key of G. Ray then plays it in E-flat.

    From imdb :)

  • @Kovacevic890 Thanks Good Guy Greg! :D

  • @Kovacevic890 No wonder... He's blind man! ;)

    :D

  • its music.Feel it

  • I like the guy in the middle, he like holy shit

  • @SuperCocopuff1 and he's damn handsome!!!!!

  • I have played all of those saxophone and gottten pretty good at them all. (Alto is far left, Tenor is in the middle, Baritone, what my school calls the barry is on the far right.) Ray Charles and my dad are the my insparation for playing them.

I love this music! And I'm 17 and white, a 90's kid. I am one of the few left of my age who enjoy this materpiece of a music style and this King of a R&B.

  • alright thats pretty good, now let me take it from here (love that )0.49

  • booger!!

  • I'd like to mention that the Star Wars parody noted in the description is actually a parody of the movie "Planes, trains and automobiles" scene, in which one protagonist dances to 'Mess Around'.

I think that movie will be more well known than the Family Guy parody scene. It's also quite good.

  • Woow. Absolutely awesome! I love that film. And the song naturally too :-)

  • God this is a good movie.

  • dude jamie fox ROCKS!

  • i just noticed something. this isn't jamie foxx singing. this is an excerpt from ray charles' recorded mess around, used in that famous john candy scene. the dinner room hit the road jack scene has a recorded ray charles voice, i believe.

  • this guy, Stevie Wonder and Andrea Bocelli...the world is lucky to have them!

  • /watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=YvY7hXqz6uI#t=56s

Now I know what George Luz was doing after the war :-)

  • Man the beginning of the song is sooo amazing. I love it....

  • Una leyenda Ray charles el rey :D

  • the bald guy existed, what is his name?

  • that bald dude is a boss!

  • it aint like i could read the lyrics haha

  • that 1 dislike he/she can kill them self

  • That ain't the key of "G". That's E Flat.

  • adoooooro este cantante compositor !!!! descubri que existia cuando vi el dia de ayer su pelicula =D

  • eargasm <3

  • barbecuuuue! lol

  • It is in the key of E flat.

  • una pelicula excelente para ver un sabado x la noche!

  • This is epic

  • One of my fav tracks from Ray Charles. This track always gets me jumping.

  • Damn gotta love Quincy Jones in the back 0:42 :D

  • Did you know that the Platinum album rating exists BECAUSE of Ahmet Etrigan? In 1969, the Iron Butterfly album "In-A-Gada-Da-Vida" sold TWENTY times Gold and they had no way to label it. So Ahmet invented "Platinum". True story.

  • Ahmet Ertegün...

  • @T2023C fixed...

  • @joesv Thanks :)

  • @joesv Correct Ray does it in E flat. And check it out 220 like and one dislike? Somebody must have hit the wrong freakin' button. Ray is flat ass awesome and this song is tough

  • @T2023C +10500 !!!

  • Great movie.

  • always reminds me of the great late John Candy in planes trains and automobiles, legend.

  • It's the key of e flat isn't it? Not hating the video is good :D

  • @IIDunnett I have no idea :P he mentions "key of G" so I pressume that's right? :)

  • @joesv Yeh he does say it's in the key of G but the sheet music for the song says otherwise... oh well it still sounds beast haha

  • @joesv No, it's E flat.

  • @joesv No it's not. The original key is in Eb and even when he's rehearsing, it's still in Eb. Ahmet also isn't speaking with a Turkish accent. Lots of mistakes, but this movie is still great.

  • @joesv No, it is E Flat.

  • @IIDunnett yeh it is but you're right it doesnt detract in the slightest :L

  • @IIDunnett On the record, it is in Eb

  • @IIDunnett I agree with you. Should be E flat

  • @IIDunnett Yes, Ray Charles' original and this version in the movie are actually in E-flat. I'm not sure why they say it's in G.

  • @IIDunnett yes e flat is right. nvm :)

  • @IIDunnett This is in the key of Eb. Haha.

  • @IIDunnett it is e flat major. Goddamn perfect pitch. lol I thought the same thing.

  • @IIDunnett It is Eb, I dunno why he said G.

  • the piano scene he plays after the arrest in his home...on the piano...anybody know that music...

  • the piano scene he plays after the arrest in his home...on the piano...

  • that white guy does sing good actually.

  • Booger from Revenge of the Nerds :)

  • Ahmet ertegun is a legend! His house near my school in Bodrum/Turkey

  • i like this movie becasue i like how he plays the piano

  • Kinda upset the "Key of G" was E Flat...but it's cool. It's a movie. Lol

  • this guy's so awesome!!!!!!

  • Pretty much Ray's last sober performance

  • @Fishstixj4l Okay Liberace, let's hear YOUR rendition. Ray Charles was BLIND and if he were living today, could probably play rings around your ass. So what if he had a drug problem? Tell me what muscian during his era didn't. The man used his God-given talent to pull himself from hardscrabble poverty. I hate punk-asses that can only see the negative instead of the positive.

  • @Fishstixj4l If ya watched the movie he got clean and he actually stayed clean so his last sober performence, it was not.

  • @TheDaleDenton oh yeah forgot sorry my b

  • @Fishstixj4l s'all good man

  • @TheDaleDenton yay!

  • Pure Energy!! 0:49 !!!

  • what are the chords he plays before the guy says "its kind of a pete johnson thing"?

  • Finally one that isn't in fucking Italian.

  • I love the way he sings the word "barbecue" Oh God.

  • @OnemesiO yeah man .. it really takes you higher for a sec =D

  • And this is, people, the magic of Ray Charles.

  • amaizing energy! Simply, briliant!

  • i'm wonder if Jamie Foxx sing in this scene!

  • @kanetidus I'm pretty sure it's the actual audio from Ray's recordings

  • @Fishstixj4l yes, i have download the best hits with Ray Charles and in specially i have listen this song like 10 times and it's the same voice like in this clip.

  • Thank you, Curt "Dudley Booger Dawson" Armstrong !

  • Loved this scene. The guy that wrote the song was Ahmet Ertegun, founder of Atlantic Records. He died in 2006 I believe and I was at his memorial concert in 2007 when Led Zeppelin reformed.

  • 0:18-0:24

That sounds so familiar is that a song or something?

  • @eh335 Yeah, its called the blues.

  • Jamie Foxx is one of the most talented people on the planet. Why does he settle for singing crappy modern R&B and mostly crappy TV and movies. The only thing he is consistently great at is standup. Its a shame.

  • i watched the movie its very good. but very disturbing to

  • It gives me an orgasm *-*

  • @otiasdsr it gives me an eargasm!

  • God everytime I hear this I think of either john candy in planes, trains and automobiles or family guy its a trap kick ass song.

  • @Nintendo82345 Ye that was the way I found it out aswell (Star Wars Parody) ;D

  • @Nintendo82345 haha, yes! John Candy Planes Trains Automobiles! Classic Scene

  • @Nintendo82345 Same here! hahah!
