well that happened to my ps3 one month ago and i sent it to repair to a friend of mine, he just changed the Fan, and did a global clean up of a little dust, and it worked again:D JUST A TIP: he really undestand about repairing ps3, dont send your ps3 to someone you dont know or you are not sure she can repair it.

One thing that's different is the warranty. PS3 has a standard warranty of 1 year, right? 360 also has a 1 year warranty, BUT an extended 3-year warranty for RROD. Microsoft even pays for shipping and handling. I don't know about Sony, but they should as well. Other than that, the 360 doesn't have many faults. The rest aren't...

They had the yellow light of death on watchdog (a UK consumer fight back program by the BBC).
Sony won't fix it for free and they are getting all upset cus 12500 out of about 2.5 mil PS3's sold in the UK did this. They showed most can be fixed by overheating the main board in an oven. Sony says the yellow light can be caused by several things.. and they are probably right. If an oven fixes it it's a dry joint and will likely fail again soon even if the oven fixed it.
That Watchdog ep was stupid. They featured-I think-3 PS3 owners; one had already fiddled with his PS3 & the 12500 reported hardware failures is less than 1% of all PS3s sold in the UK. The industry accepted failure rate is 3%! The fact is, most consoles are used by children at some point and the care and consideration these complex electronics need is probably not being given. How many PS3 owners regularly clean their discs to prevent dust migration or hoover the vents? No not many I expect.

Was playing WaW and my PS3 just turned off. Turned it back on and yellow light staring me in the face. Now when I turn it on there's no lights whatsoever coming on. Thinking of sending it to Knightsgamingrepair. I want my save data back and my WaW disk still in there.
i dont know man that was the last of my ps3 when i turned it off via the power switch when it froze then tried turning it on but nothing but green light, yellow light then it turns off
Well the ps3 YLOD doesn't happen mainly because almost everybody that gets its has a ps3 that has backward capability. I think this is why Sony stop making them. Getting a new ps3 or any ps3 that isn't built with bc in them is safe. From what i think every since ps3 video about ylod is a backward capability ps3. PS3 without built in BC Safer then one with BC
it's $50 a YEAR not a month, that's less then 4$ a month, well worth the better internet. and if your worried about price, keep in mind the the ps3 costs about 2ce as much. although they are both great systems

you don't need iwreless, you can hook up an ethernet cable to a router or laptop, and it's also much faster. and it's only 50$ a month here, which is like 4$ a month, and it's worth the better online.

I pay cod4 online on ps3. whenever an online game finishes the screen freezes black. I can still press the ps3 button and the main ps3 menu come up, but cod4 freezes and i have to restart the whole ps3 for it fix.

PS3 also has a removable hard drive. Actually, it uses standard laptop hard drives so you don't have to buy any special hard drive you can just buy any standard 2.5 inch SATA.
All PS3's also have a removable hard drive, ive removed mine and threw the old ps3 in the lake. funny thing is I bought a new 80GB PS3 with a 3 year warranty. I will never buy a 360, red ring of death is way too common. I do however like halo and gears of war.
the best models that came out were the 1st edition 80 gbs. ive had mine, it has backwards compatiblity with all my older great hit ps2 games, 4 usb ports, and i ve dropped the fucking thing on wood floor and it works like there is no tomorrow. hahahahahahahahaha do that to a 360 and its over lol

okay lets settle this once and for all. ps3 is better. if our game designers used every bit of space on our blu-ray discs our graphics would bankrupt microsoft (especially with an HD TV and HDMI cables [settings optimized for orgasmicy])
xbox may have a few games that ps3 doesnt but guess what? WE HAVE GAMES THAT YOU DONT HAVE TOO it's called sony said: "2 can play at that game" and flipped microsoft the bird with tons of game u guys dont get because theyre psn exclusive.

My ps3 did this last night took it to a repairer today it is pretty common.
2 of my online friends have also had this problem so yes the ps3 is not bullet proof and i treat mine like a new born baby and im a mature gamer.
so beware my fellow ps3 friends if yo0ur ps3 is spinning its fan and blowing chunks look out you are going to be met by the yellow light of death.

obviously there was a problem with your ps3 to start with then because ive gone months playing my ps3 for whole days at a time and (yes we all know thats bad for it) mine still runs great. still nothing wrong that i can see anyway. the only real bad thing about my ps3 (80 G) is its features are like the slim but without the noise from the disc reader lol point is sometimes your hard drive could end up detached and re-attaching it will fix the problem. but if it breaks ur screwed out of $170...

ahh this is all bullshit anyway... i have a ps3 i love it, i dont have a 360 and therefore hate it because of the console war. but think back to the time of ps2 and xbox. i never had my ps2 fail and i never heard of an xbox fail either sure there may have been a few but honestly what can we expect if they make yet another "next gen. console"? the only thing that i still havent heard of failing is the wii and yet we call it crap but i suppose thats for a different reason... lol no good games xD

They had the yellow light of death on watchdog (a UK consumer fight back program by the BBC).
Sony won't fix it for free and they are getting all upset cus 12500 out of about 2.5 mil PS3's sold in the UK did this. They showed most can be fixed by overheating the main board in an oven. Sony says the yellow light can be caused by several things.. and they are probably right. If an oven fixes it it's a dry joint and will likely fail again soon even if the oven fixed it.

That Watchdog ep was stupid. They featured-I think-3 PS3 owners; one had already fiddled with his PS3 & the 12500 reported hardware failures is less than 1% of all PS3s sold in the UK. The industry accepted failure rate is 3%! The fact is, most consoles are used by children at some point and the care and consideration these complex electronics need is probably not being given. How many PS3 owners regularly clean their discs to prevent dust migration or hoover the vents? No not many I expect.

Was playing WaW and my PS3 just turned off. Turned it back on and yellow light staring me in the face. Now when I turn it on there's no lights whatsoever coming on. Thinking of sending it to Knightsgamingrepair. I want my save data back and my WaW disk still in there.

Well the ps3 YLOD doesn't happen mainly because almost everybody that gets its has a ps3 that has backward capability. I think this is why Sony stop making them. Getting a new ps3 or any ps3 that isn't built with bc in them is safe. From what i think every since ps3 video about ylod is a backward capability ps3. PS3 without built in BC Safer then one with BC

PS3 also has a removable hard drive. Actually, it uses standard laptop hard drives so you don't have to buy any special hard drive you can just buy any standard 2.5 inch SATA.
