Love to hear this without the clapping. If I'd been there I'd have been hollering and clapping too but you kind of lose the incredible speed and clarity when there's spontaneous outburst at 0:58. Still and all, miraculous!
these are showcase tunes. every band that has any good musicians does them. its not like every song in the set is this fast. its fast and its good, why complain about it?

I know I'm supposed to feel sympathatic 'cause the fellow is blind...but this is nothing but speed..no swing...no feel...it leaves me cold...sorta like flying thru the Grand Canyon at Mach III...wow!...but you had no chance to see the real beauty of the place...yes this is supposed to be fast...but this is fast but NOT good
No, not really, i tend to agree. It's great speed, but most of it feels faked to me. And the sound is muddled because of the speed. Don't get wrong, he's an awesome player, but most of his stuff I've heard he plays like this.
Thats Tom Adams I think. Tom was one of the best banjo players in bluegrass. Sadly, Tom is no longer able to play three finger banjo due to a medical condition, but he is still a good guitar player.
Check out Tom's cds "Adam's County Banjo" and "Right Hand Man." Michael also recorded a couple cds with Tom. Thats some great picking! Tom was so clean it was unreal!
I saw the banjo player whispering something to Michael. I bet it was "we're having trouble keeping up." Just kidding. Awesome playing by the fiddle and band!
While there are other really good fiddlers in bluegrass (like Hunter Berry, Andy Leftwich, Jimmy Mattingly, etc.), Michael Cleveland is in a league all his own. He has an incredible gift.
Jimmy Mattingly worked for Garth Brooks as his touring fiddle player a long time ago. I know he is in a BG band that is pretty popular right now, but I can't think of the name for nothing. Do you know?
Michael is a HUGE inspiration for me as a picker! Every time I watch this I'm just so mindblown at how incredible this is.
