Just moved to salt lake city Utah, and hear constantly about fly fishing in these parts, I will try to master your video FlyFishingUK. Have any suggestion's on a fly fishing outfit!!!! Thanks so much.
I havent done a lot of fly fishing. After seeing this i can see where i was going wrong. looking forward to the new fishing season on 15th March now. Ty
Fantastic to see a Leading expert in action and taking the time to show us. Looking at some of the comments I would suggest maybe they take up another sport like GOLF perhaps . Remember GOLF spelt backwards is FLOG and that's what the vast majority of these golfers do every weekend. FLOG a little white ball up a big green field....18 times....Just a thought....!
hi, im going to canada next year, after watched your video i really want to go fly fishing!! Could you be so kind as to tell me how to buy the Hardy rod and reel while im in Hong Kong? and I'm just 1.55cm little woman, which size or weight of rod and reel should i get??? Thx a million!!
Very nice explanation from part 1 and 2. I'm going to have a go at fly fishing for the first time in a couple of weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to cast properly now that I've done some research and practiced. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for posting this. I went out today for my first try and got 2 flies stuck up in a tree...lol. I didnt know about the roll cast. I bet I would have kept those two flies :)
I jusy came up with a new fishing style in my mind... I call it "storm the beaches" just send in 500 people into a river and in the confusion and chaos fishes will have no idea what to do and they will literally be jumping into the hands of the 500. I think fishes are smart and they understand our fishing tactics. Thats why fishing is harder these days. We need innovation.
good video man, u know when you cast the line out and then you reel it in and point the rod down at the water just before you flick it up to 12 o'clock n out again, how much do leave the on the line from the end of rod to the fly tip/hook? if no what i mean sorry if this is a real novice question or stupid but in the video you cant see the fly tip when you whip the line back and cast it down the river do you reel the hook all the way back to the end of rod? im little confused
I have watched this at least 6 times and have failed to see the "firm stop at 11 o'clock" in any of the roll cast instructions. Also, i have watched several of your videos, mainly of you chatting to some one off camera, but also a bloke you taught double haul to. All are like watching paint dry. Sorry but it needs saying. There is very little to learn here.
Considering I have been fishing for 27 years and am proficient at catching most fish species in N. America on traditional tackle. I FULLY disagree. Though he was a little off on his geometry, the basics were well covered. I teach people many techniques at a basic level, yet I don't always use them as I teach them. Over many years of fishing, you tend to modify and perfect techniques. These habits are hard to break once you get used to them.
Thank you so much. Just got done watch both of your videos. You are a great teachers. Watching you, showed me what I was doing wrorg. Had to get my rod and then to the back yard to practice.
@onedrumgirl Did you actually learn anything? Looks can be deceptive. Some one showing off in a river is not necessarily informative, especially when the words contradict the actions.
Thanks for your kind words, Kaz 'n' BigG. Have you tried Eyebrook Trout Fishery not too far from Northants? It really is a great fishing location. I am now running courses there so look forward to seeing you there.
nice vid, havn't fished for over ten years, but recently i was given all my grandads gear, planning on going next week, need to practice my casting but this video was a good stepping stone
Thanks, Harry, i look forward to creating a few more videos for to help you in the near future. Check out my blog too as there are a few golden nuggets there also. ;0)

This is every useful. Roaring River in Missouri is going to have a "Trout Day." and fly fishing is the only way to catch something.
