  • the only man who could scold thompson and have him admit hes right about his potential lol.... one legend to another.

  • Hunter and Anita are awesome people<3

  • the only bald men in the world who has "the Style."

  • Is there a transcript for this video or something? Can't hear what Hunter's mumbling half the time!

  • @antonjr you incompetent hound.

  • how many people, other than hunter s thompson would be permitted to smoke on the set of charlie rose?

  • He who makes a beast of himself, gets rid of the pain of being a man.

Der, der sich zum Tier macht, befreit sich von dem Leid, ein Mensch zu sein.

    Hunter S. Thompson [18.Juli 1937 - † 20. Februar 2005 ]

    R.I.P

  • CHARLIE ROSE FOR THE WIN! So much love, so much friendly jousting, utterly fucking fantastic.

  • Paul Kemp was what he feared becoming in the 1950s

  • Are you excited for "The Rum Diary"?

  • @FilmEngineLLC yes u pig fucker

  • Hunter said that he and the person who played Dr. Gonzo (i forget the actors name) were the only two actors cut out for the duo. Johnny Depp lived with him for a year, i believe. If you watch "Where the buffalo roam" Bill Murray, who was one of his best friends at the time does a great job depicting him as well. And the only reason he even made it past sixty, is because he wanted to. He was planning on dying at fifty. You should read his suicide note, it was one of his best works.

  • @eatlocal1 I think The guys that played as Dr. Gonzo (Benicio Del Toro in F&LILV [fear & loathing] and Peter Boyle (Where The buffalo Roam) did great ive seen both films and I like both Where the Buffalo Roam is semi-biographical while Fear & loathing is the book but easier to visualize

  • Wow after listening to this interview and watching fear and loathing in las vegas I really appreciate Johnny Depps performance. He picks up every little detail on the real Hunter S Thompson.

  • This was just before he started to get very very mumbly. Have huge respect for this man, but he was extremely fortunate to make it into his 60s, given the fact that his consumption seemingly never ever slowed down. RIP Hunter S Thompson.

  • thompson ... you are missed old man

  • shut up

  • poopoooummpoopuduss! Maki no sensidus!

  • "I'm not a movie fucker." Isn't that what he said around 6:30?? HAAAAA!!

  • @rockfiftyfive1 he said I'm not a movie character

  • @thee4stringking he said "I'm not a movie director"

  • he said it perfectly "it was a work of art"

  • "It was not rewarding...I didn't get paid".

  • smartest man alive.......hands down

  • @kjah4201 not alive........

  • @justiniscoolohyea i know man...it really sucks

  • @justiniscoolohyea The Crazy never die, man...

  • I don't understand a single word either of them is saying, what's going on here?

  • The great thing about Thompson is that you can really tell when he respects an interviewer or someone who he is talking with. A lot of times when he's interviewed he seems to take it as a joke and just messes with the person. But here because he obviously really respects Rose he's very honest and down to earth, much more pure Hunter rather than Raoul Duke, or the more cartoonish personas he sometimes uses.

  • I love Hunter's expression when Rose poses the question of "art as it's own reward."

  • Well, it's really an old paradox. All art is supposed to be self-rewarding.

  • Hunter S. Thompson was a free mind....

  • the character Paul Kemp is similar to Hunter before the LSD. the book has lots of aspects we find in later works by Hunter, but its missing that "zing", that "edge" that makes gonzo, "GONZO"

  • that's because it's fiction and not any form of journalism at all, let alone GONZO. If you look closely, with the right set of eyes, it becomes apparent what was written early in his career and what was amended after years of honing the craft.

  • "Now, Charlie, If you were a jounalist..."

Always on the barricades, even if they, for the moment, were just his own.

  • Rum Diary is an incredible novel. I'm so excited to see the movie, I know Depp will do Hunter's work justice once again.

  • i was begining to loose hope on that movie ever beeing made as it was pushed up several times, but im so glad to read that the shooting has started :)

  • and the new movie doesn't even feature Yeamon...

  • And I still don't understand why.

  • this damn interviewer needs to shut up.....if he would.. his damn questions would be answered.

  • I want see the movie! I can´t wait!

  • I'm reading the Rum Diary?

    Is Paul Kemp Hunter?

    Is it true?

  • Like he says, he isn't any of the characters in his literature. He's somewhat like them, but it's somewhat mixed.

  • No definitely not!! I have read "the book" as well....

  • Listen to the interview you absolute fucktard.

  • No.

  • Hunter Thompson and Charlie Rose are old friends.

  • WOW

  • it was really cool to get hst's take on f&l and johnny depp although i wish he would have gone a little further into how he would have done it differently...great vid, though....

  • One of the best H.S.T clips on youtube.

  • charlie rose is a brilliant interviewer, and there is no better match for him than hunter s. thompson. i believe that hunter kind of puts charlie off with his brashness and his way of speaking, but charlie deals with it like a true professional. this is a great interview.

  • Thanx for posting this series of clips featuring the good Dr. and Mr Rose.

Would have been wonderful to have been a 'fly on the wall' in the bar afterwards.
