  • It has also been tried with tenor viol and alto recorder unison on each part (Frans Bruggen, Salzburger Festspiele, Mozarteum Orchestra, early 90's), whereby there were real intonation problems between the modern orchestra and the 'early' instruments. It is great that the intended instruments are now available and extremely well-played in this recording!

  • Usually played (and recorded) by oboe and flute, since this is how Haydn rearranged his lire concerti and nocturnes once in London, how much better these pieces sound on the original instruments (aka organized hurdy-gurdies / vielles organisées)!

  • Yes, I think this piece has alot of character with the original instruments.
