I love the old school cycling clothes...so warm. i was riding in thes now and I'm keep wandering why such a thin layer of clothes used by most road cyclists.
lol i used t skate n shit owned and made a few longboards but mostly street skating. sold all that shit for a good fix a year ago; best decision ever.
Yeah, I think that if you have a bianchi pista, more power to you. Fixed gears are a fucking riot, and I don't need some 10 inch travel douche to tell me different.

If this was 'fake' then it is very well done and that should be applauded alone...but it's not so here we are navel gazing at some hippie doing wheelies.
it doesnt even look fake - so many retards in the world today, probably look at the finger pointing rather than where its pointing. everything you see happening in life has been "cycling" on a loop with only aesthetic changes that make it seem different and new. Many things that are "cool" now weren't even noticed when they were first conceived, blah blah blah i could go on for ever - whats the point!
there are plenty of old fixed gear videos, and this one is great thanks. Those who think it is fake are simply uninformed.
Additionally, Edison wasn't filming it because there was some fixed gear craze in 1899, the point is that he was capturing moving images. Motion pictures were still in their infancy at the time.
The fact that so many of you think or believe this is a fake shows just how unimaginative some of you are. Like noone ever thought of doing tricks on a bike? You think a trackstand is new?!?!?!?! HA!!!! man, you fools need to learn some history of the bicycle. Especially from the european side of the pond. People have been doing fixie tricks for over a hundred years now. Go get a late pass.
Not fake--I saw this years ago, long before YouTube, complete with Edison company info. It's impressive for both the riding and the early cinematography. And hey, it's public domain!

my first thought is that this is a fake. that someone did this after the Edison era, more like in the youtube era. TeamHellion, nice job making it look ancient. Or should I ask where you found the footage? I saw some Edison exhibits in years past but never seen this before. I wouldn't be surprised if he did film some fixies, but that wheel grab seems pretty unlikely.

I love showing this video to anyone who thinks fixed gear is a fad hipster thing. They were riding these bikes before my great grandma was born!!
stankwho 3 years ago
Yeah its not like a fixed gear is anything clever either hah.....its probably the most basic way to make a bike.
They are fun to ride tho....thats why it is the cool "new" thing. Easy maintenance and fun riding.

@TeamHellion common sense applies, those were some of the first tipe of bikes made, and of course the freewheel was really hi tech at that time.
thanks for posting this video, so young ignorants don't think that hey are pioneers in fixed gear.

makes sense since the original bikes were all fixed gear. You know someone had to come up with that back then. Great footage.
