Yep, all you do is enter the cheats. When you get to the game's checkpoint, die. Then exit the game, and click continue. It'll bring you back to the game all cheats enabled then you can save your game. Do this before you complete the level or your profile will be flagged as cheat code user.

My guess it's because, the wii is trying to simulate basic and real lightsaber movements. Try holding the wii mote the same way Starkiller does(reversed grip, it's called Shien), it's gonna be awkward and probably won't work using the wii remote, though it would be awesome if they would have got it to be held like that.
