Also, what does the left lever do? The right one unlocks and locks the chair, allowing it to rock or become stationary. The left one seems to have ZERO purpose. When you adjust it, there's a metal hook that swivels on the underside of the chair, but it has nothing to catch on. There's not even a mechanism for it to connect to, so it's utterly pointless.
You can actually slide the seat portion forward until those slots line up. There's nothing wrong with the chair. It's cryptic, but after struggling with my Shermag chair 15 minutes ago, I found 3 phillips head screws under the frame that you have to loosen and then side the metal seat portion until the holes and those two bracket pieces line up. 1) We'd like to point out that we are NOT necessarily blaming Babies R Us for this defect - it's clearly a manufacturer problem.
2) For a similar price point, we strongly recommend you consider the Dutailier Grande Glider - it's essentially pre-assembled, has quality parts, and is a much better option.
Very helpful - thank u for the tip! Was debating between a Shermag and Dutailier and ur reviews have helped me figure it out!
