Just to clear up all the confusion; we were using mics for RECORDING PURPOSES ONLY during this show, not for amplification. The mics you see on the piano and in front of the stage are recording the audio, NOT amplifying it. We were playing in a theatre that is very well suited to playing without amplification.

Some were asking where the mics are. We saw them last night in Houston and they use tiny clear mics that hook onto their ear. The sound is outstanding and it looks liken they're singing in your living room, which works great for their style

What the poster means is until recently, they used overhead mikes, but none of the instruments were miked and the voices were not miked. You can see the suspended mikes for the audio, but the guitar, fiddle, bass and drum are not miked. They do prefer a natural sound. Of course in the studio, everything is miked, that's a given!

Acoustically amplified. Either way, who cares? It's just like acoustic, with the volume up a bit. With all the cheers and hollerin, it seems a bit necessary.
