Put 2 dissimilar metals in any non-neutral solution (iron in tree sap for example & a different kind of iron in mud/damp earth) and you get an electrochemical reaction. Look up Standard Reduction Potentials or redox reactions and you can calculate the voltage 2 metals will produce under standard conditions.

whats the point of the capacitors? from what i get it cant be that different from a earth battery which is your basic electrochemistry. why the capcitors? the trees arent generating AC are they?
Essentially if you find a good acidic plant, tape a few dozen of them and ground to earth you could then produce a voltage efficient enough to run LED lighting or low pressure fan powered circulation systems.
Best of all you could keep the plants alive and use them year round in the proper climate. Keep everything nice and moist with highly conductive well water and you could probably eliminate grid power completely from your home if you switched to LED's.

And I decided to use non electrolytic Capacitors ; because, Nonelectrolytic are used for lower relative values of capacitance. Mainly since in your video you said you had only .6 volts. And on that topic Capacitors in series decrease the total capacitance of the circuit since capacitors in series are treated like resistors in parallel. This meaning that Capacitors in (couldnt paste it all its is 3 comments)

When 6 1000 micro farad capacitors are linked in series the charge time might be less ;however, the total capacitance that can be obtained is 166.7 micro Farads. And when linked in Parallel is 6 milli farads. SO to produce the most voltage possible they need to be linked in parallel..
@MrCerebro11 One last thing be very careful with those capacitors. Electrolytic capacitors are polar sensitive. If they are shorted out or connected backwards they will explode lol.....be careful

I too must admit that this video is funny, but at least they are trying something. I remember this phase of my life, between 14 to 28 years old, where I tested ideas like crazy. How does it work? Is it that the 'electrolytic fluid' in the tree's cell sap generates a small current via the electrode potentials (i.e. between the nails in the tree and the shovel clipped earth) that is rectified and amplified (via the capacitors) and read by the ammeter / voltmeter? you're wrong on one point...one CAN get some power ..problem is..2 nails (for example) = 0.5 Volts @( for example) 5mA ..so 4 nails (series) = 1 volt@10 mA..

40 nails =12volt@10 mA
now..to get more amperes..we need other layers of nails,each with 40 of them..in parallel..results ? 40*100(layers) = 1 Ampere..and here it is !! your 12V 1A battery !! now connect it in parallel to 99 trees,each with your 4KG (if not more..) battery...

@josephdupont I am well aware of the fact that the effect is well recognized. It was used to power telegraph lines. At least you could have used dirt as the electrolyte instead of using trees.

I too must admit that this video is funny, but at least they are trying something. I remember this phase of my life, between 14 to 28 years old, where I tested ideas like crazy. Likewise, I admire people who use their brain to figure out the world outside of traditional education because it spawns creativity (I wish more people could be like them).

I don't think so . There is an optimum distance above the ground for max voltage. if what you were saying was true I think the capacitor would charge up much faster.

If you hooked up 24 trees in series you could charge a 1ah 12 volt battery in two days and hook up a 50watt power inverter
and power a 25watt light bulb for a 1min.
If you hook up 9600 trees in sets of 24 you could charge 4 100ah 12 volt batterys
and hook up a 5000watt inverter and
power a house for FREE

unfortunately you can't put the trees in series. they all have a common ground.
the only thing you can do and charge a drump of capacitors in parralell and then put the capacitors in series to do work.

How does it work? Is it that the 'electrolytic fluid' in the tree's cell sap generates a small current via the electrode potentials (i.e. between the nails in the tree and the shovel clipped earth) that is rectified and amplified (via the capacitors) and read by the ammeter / voltmeter? I aint know; it's just a guess or am I wrong? Maybe this might be the 'green electricity' of the future when more acidic (?) trees are used?

lemon batteries use the destruction of metal to produce electricity.. I don't think too much metal is lost getting meager amounts of electricy from trees.
Like I said it appears not to be practical.
It might have limited applications in low tec areas of the world with no resources.

there is energy all around us, but the return on the investment to capture it is
too much.
They want to send a probe to Mars to produce hydrogen and oxygen before we send men. that way the fuel for the return trip will already be there and the savings woujld be amazing.
If you had a cabin you did not use for most of the year, maybe, maybe such tree power might beable to store presurized hydrogen.

you're wrong on one point...one CAN get some power ..problem is..2 nails (for example) = 0.5 Volts @( for example) 5mA ..so 4 nails (series) = 1 volt@10 mA..
now..
to get the equivalent of a car battery we need
40 nails =12volt@10 mA
now..to get more amperes..we need other layers of nails,each with 40 of them..in parallel..results ? 40*100(layers) = 1 Ampere..and here it is !! your 12V 1A battery !! now connect it in parallel to 99 trees,each with your 4KG (if not more..) battery...

We detected DC not AC.
However if you drive two stakes in the ground you will pick up the 60 cycle hum and ac current from a difference in ground potential.
Depending on where you live and the power loads such differentials could be harvested
and utilized. I doubt that cosmic forces are in play here.. but who knows.. they say that the ice ages are caused by planetary allignments.

to get 60 cycle hum is from the power lines near by. you drive copper pipes in the ground at the various parts of the yard.

Try connecting the leads to the battery terminal on a disposable camera. The circuit in the camera will charge a cap. then can be discharge through the flash, at the push of a button.
