  • freaking awesome!, is that fender jaguar daves playing?

  • Better than anything they made after Jane's Addiction

  • classic album. underrated.

  • Fuckin amazing

  • I Bought This Album in Ameoba Records =)

  • This was right after Dave cut his dreads. Check the shaved head!

  • Eric Avery WAS Jane's Addiction..

  • GREAT PROJECT.

  • injustamente ignorado! disco monumetal. psicodelia de verdad en la era del plático (real psychodelic music in the plastic era)

  • someone asked awhile back what poem is being quoted toward the end. It's actually some lines from John Fante's "Ask The Dust", which i just read a couple years ago. i grew up jamming Deconstruction and it was a delight to have those words jump out at me.

  • i remember buying this album when i was 14 or so and remembered thinking to myself, man if you replace the vox with perry's voice, you'd have jane's :)

i loved this album tho---- the song son was my favorite, a really good one. i miss jane's addiction. i'm so glad i got the opportunity to seem them live many times before their [first] breakup.

  • This song can be split into 3 separate full-length songs.

  • Does your horizon burn?

  • This album shows how important Eric was to Jane's sound. He and Dave were amazing songwriters together!

  • who can dislike this song?

  • "g.dammit i said keep it quiet in back of this camera!!" LoL

  • this is a great album, thanks for posting it! Hey one question though... at 1:02 does he sing "I like niggaz balls"? haha

  • @waltaburge : no. it's 'La La Brea bones walk west'.

    Lyrics are posted above.

  • @waltaburge no, moron!

  • fucking great song

  • I like this!

  • It is a great song. I like it.

  • Fluke chance for me stumbling across these guys (thank you Beavis and Butthead.) Reminds me of a dirtier, crunchier Rush. I wonder how good they would have been live though, I feel like with only three members, their songs would have to be re-done. Either way, Decon is reaching my most played on my ipod rapidly.

  • This guitar riff reminds me of Been caught stealing. I don't know...

  • i'm the only one in tahiti to know this band !

  • Navarro fuckin rip's

  • Damn, I remember buying this album right after Jane's Addiction broke up. VERY underrated stuff!

  • "Does your horizon burn?"

  • have had three copies of this gem. two were lost by dumbass friends. still my favorite one and done album of all time. the whole record is good, but the back half is absolutely amazing. a shame they couldn't do more. and thanks to beavis and butthead for showing this once.

  • awesome song, where the hell did i leave this cd??

  • To get it, just google "deconstruction 1994 megaupload" and check for rapidshare links...

  • does anybody know somewhere i can get this album online? ive looked in every fucking record store in my town and i simply cant find it.. please if you downloaded it of some site please let me know

  • Great guitar riff.

  • My favorite album of all time

  • early 90s had such great music and bands that are just forgotten by so many now

  • What episode of Beavis and Butthead is this in? I am trying to find it but can't.

  • @StoneRacingCamaro the episode I saw it in was "Buttniks." The one where Beavis goes to that coffee shop.

"Eh, I'll be damned. It's Dave Navarro."

  • This is the best album of the 90's.

  • Epic song.

  • Great record. Wore it out back in the day.

  • I had this on cassette!!

  • its weird seeing dave with a buzzed head

  • is that Gary Busey at 3:25?

  • It's just a shame there was only one album. I think that one album is better than anything Jane's Addiction EVER did.

  • Much better than Jane's ever done.

  • Well, I'll disagree, but I can understand that notion.

  • I recognize the model that opens this video its Wendy Griffin Love her Love this song and love L.A. Baby!!!!!!!!!

  • F****CKIN awesome

  • Comment removed

  • love this stuff even more than janes addiction

  • Killer guitar riff. Dave Navarro makes the song.

  • Dave with short hair?!! LOL awesome :)

  • he does look like an ultra-white Chris Cornell, doesn't he? lol

  • used to play this on Beavis & Butthead

  • That's where I first saw this! lol

  • Great Album. A Classic.

  • forgotten gem, amazing album, superb drumming from pat murphy.

  • but I didn't said Perkins was in it ¬¬

  • Doesn't take a genius to see that the music tracks for this album were intended for the "next" Jane's album....

  • Not so sure about that, the band agreed to break up just as they went out to start the "Ritual" tour... Navarro and Perry were also in a terribly bad place drug-wise thru that tour, and Eric and Perry weren't speaking. I have a hard time believing they worked on any music from the start of that tour on...

  • I think they shouldn't let this album just disappear as time passes (it goes used for like a buck on Amazon!)

They need to get back together and promote and tour this album!!!!

  • It has the ability to go down in history as one of those albums that time cant touch!!!

  • "Dahmer got 15 life sentences today, I'm visiting friends in the hospital. Too much fear, too little life for much too long. The traffic of the windshields' filled with needy and greedy eyes".

Nothing Jane's Addiction, Porno For Pyros or RHCP recorded is half as amazing as Deconstruction.

  • awesome memories of cruising texas in the 90's blasting this tune..suburb car record...agree w/ others..this has aged very well...another gem so few people know about...glad i'm one of em..thnx for posting...this song kicks ass...!

  • this album has really aged well. some of the best work dave & eric have done. lots of depth.

  • Comment removed

  • Dave's rhythmic sense really shines on this tune. Deconstruction turned out to be a one-off project when Dave joined RHCP later that year. 'One Hot Minute' was one hot mess, though. I have the video of the MTV VMA '95 performance of "Warped", where Dave kicked major ass. I'll put it up as soon as I can find it.

  • just found this album in a bin for $5. I love it. It's like "Art-Metal" in a way

  • Where do you shop? lol

  • Porno For Pyros + Deconstruction = Jane's Addiction

Long life for Perry, Perkins, Navarro and Avery

cause they formed three kickassin' bands

  • Perkins wasn't in this band.

  • I saw a Deconstruction video on beavis and butthead and I reconized Dave Navarro how long were they around for

  • Same here, from Beavis and Butt-head...A lot of good bands were on that show.

  • beavis and butthead - same again, what a show.

but this is a really interesting song im not normally into stuff like this but this is genius in my opinion.

  • what ??! underrated ?

    this sold 14x platinum..

    that's enough Lol

  • Greatest album of the 90's. If you havent heard it, then you do not know music.

    ERIC AVERY IS GOD.

  • @yzemagic Great music on the record, but Dave's lyrics didn't stand up for me. He definately was missing Perry's powerful force on the mike.

  • @yzemagic

I'll pretend you didn't just say that. Well, 2 years ago.

    Was a good album though.

  • @yzemagic So agreed, so agreed, I can't get enough of it, it's truly untouchable for those who like a sound that's fresh, vibrant & most of all visionary, pure brilliance along with lyrical & guitar genius, David Navarro is sheer genius on that guitar of his, yes, I will use that word again, I so wish these two would collaborate again...does your horizon burn...instant classic....perfect

  • Most underrated album. Ever.

    --Michael W. Dean

  • I feel the same as the commenters here. Underrated album indeed. I found it on a used records shop once and it changed my life.

  • @Kittyfeet69

    Definitely.

  • @Kittyfeet69 Damn close... Avery really shined on this...

  • At 1:54

    도서장터 means the bookstore.

  • One of the greatest albums of all time. Navarro and Avery are two badass dudes.

  • i didnt download the Album i got pride in navarro so i bought it

  • Me too - a friend turned me on to it right after it came out and I bought it! Hands down one of my top favorite albums - that's saying A LOT.

  • wow

  • Eric Avery - Help Wanted

    ALBUM OF THE YEAR.

And Deconstruction is the album of the 90's.

  • I was a courier driver for a laboratory in

Los Angeles. I used to listen to this disc

everyday to get me going. I love this sound.

  • the video was shot at 'The Pink Motel' a hotel that eric referred to as a 'horrible motel in the valley'.

  • best record of all time

  • Eric is back in Jane's! At least for one night anyway!

  • ...something's shocking...

  • ...something's shocking...

  • Does anyone know what time of guitar effect Dave is using for most of the song (the kinda scratchy dirty funky one)? Thanks.

  • Sounds like simply Fender guitar into Marshall amp (JCM900) to me.

  • it´s his playing.

that´s scratchy dirty funky... I guess the FX is just distortion.

  • Dave is probably using some kind of 'crunchy' overdrive FX and I suspect a lot of compression as well. I also like his guitar at the beginning and end of the song too, which I suspect is overdrive with chorus. Some really great sounds in this fantastic song :-)

  • I still have this tape!! Too bad it didnt last long :(

  • they are great! navarro and avery best couple in rock music!big sur, single, fire in the hole,l.a. song and sleepyhead and hope best songs of the album...

...it's a shame that musicians like them are so underrated...fuck all the emo and pop music!!!!

  • I have the album. This song is probally the best one on it. If you really want a copy and cant get one. Let me know. I'll hook you up.

  • I was turned on to this in 95 - without a doubt, one of my all time favorite albums. I have 2 - one to play and one put up in a nice safe place just in case.

If you haven't heard the whole thing - do it! You'll be amazed...Big Sur is awesome.

  • somebody post the whole album fucking awesome

  • can anybody host the album on the internet?

i`ve found one in torrent, but its stuck at 55.8% =(

  • Same here. Wish I could get the rest of the album. Stuck on 55.8% for months :(

  • yeah man someone needs to seed

  • This album was on my player for years...My original cd is FUCKED tho...anybody hook me up with a clean cd?

  • Fuckin great video man!!!! I always been grateful to you for post it. I own the original CD. I payed everything for it. And now I can buy one more copy from an internet buy site. This song is so amazing, really futuristic. The ALBUM of the 90's!

    Saludos desde Argentina, South America

    Lucas

  • Jane's Addiction never did anything good without Avery... wonder what that says?

  • well they did do good with chaney, not bad.but ur right.

  • dave and eric are gods!!!!!!!!!!

  • i first saw this on beavis and butthead. didnt know about deconstruction till then.

  • exactly man. in 2004 I saw an episode.

  • beavis and butthead opened me up to alot of different music. but its so fucking funny as well :D

  • Deconstruction, the albumn of the 90's. I love the fact that nobody knows about it either, it is a hidden gem

    Eric Avery is a God

  • i agree with wacke666....jane's, pfp and deconstruction 4 ever and ever and ever....

  • Dave Navarro kicks ass! I'd say he can play guitar good as hell! Eric Avery's not bad either! Deconstruction, Porno For Pyros & Jane's Addiction 4-ever!

  • i love them, eric and dave...

  • never seen the vid before. Have had the album for 10 years...big JA, PFP fan. Never knew Dave had a shaved head......

  • Great recording. If you don't own Deconstruction, find it, buy it...pay a lot if you have to.

  • lyrics for life. i picture these guys riding around L.A. with a notepad and pencil writing down everything they see. "I rolled by, eating my, egg mcmuffin and i didn't care"

  • You know Ive got to be honest. I was truly moved as many of us were by the notion of JA reuniting. Obviously the chemistry would inevitably be transformed. Yes the results are from a different planet but this remarkable music has true moments of beauty. Hope exists and thats enough for me! You know? "Thanks guys..for trying!" ok? Play ONLY Satellite Party for 3 days perhaps? or Dave's band until you want to shoot yourself and THEN listen to 'Just Because' Hey! It IS good! Ted, just admit it!

  • good times

  • the slice

    brian

  • i think that Deconstruction was the best group after jane's addiction and the last good performance of Navarro, after that period with his friend Eric Avery (the REAL mind of the sound of JA) he stop to play the guitar and start the worst crative period of his carreer culminated in the bad appearance with the RHCP and the horrible reunion album with the Jane's

  • Anyone know the author of the poem about LA he's quoting at the end of the song?

  • This is Dave in his best musical shape. I bought it back (around) 96. I confess it was a shock, considering it was way distant from JA's musicality.

This is and will ever be the best work ever made by these two guys. It constains Dave & Eric's best licks. I've listened to it for 5000 times or more. The layers, sounds, mixing, bass lines, lyrics and the artwork are pure state of art Californian sun in form of music.

  • The Deconstruction album contains the best licks ever written from Dave....it's a 10!

  • Ahhhh

no puede faltar mi firma acaaaaa

    Aguante DECONSTRUCTION LOCOO jajaja

    dave peladinnn jee

  • wonderful!!!!! i'd like they reunite....eric avery and dave navarro the best musicians ever...

  • dave looks like matthew fox on lost

  • reunite!

i like dave's stuff, and i like eric's polar bear (hell i don't even know what he's doing now) - but deconstruction was a beautiful bookend to the chaos that was 80's and early 90's jane's.

    thanks for this.

  • Don't forget the beats from Concrete Blonde's first drummer, whose name escapes me. Those transitions from hippy-hoppish programmed beats to live thrashy drums were WAY ahead of their time.

  • The drummer was Michael Murphey. Together with Avery and Navarro, the three of them created a masterpiece.

  • I just got this album (Amazon) after hearing about it for the past dozen or so years... it's very deep. Crazy arrangements and excellent.

It's kind of cool to get some sort of closure to the original Jane's line up.

  • This whole record is really good....way ahead of it's time.

  • Beautiful and brilliant.

  • this is a cool song! both Dave&Eric are great, but dave has obviously been more successful! Deconstruction is a great album!...why did they stop printing it?

  • Incredible....Eric Avery looks like the pizza guy from "Theres something about Mary "

  • Now that's funny! Great stuff tho!

  • hey, who is that cholo on that video? is that dave? :o

  • Deconstruction was amazing...the album is one of a kind!

  • this stuffs amazing. I love the music. Dave is a phenomonal guitarist.

  • This is such a great album. I remember buying this CD when it first came out and was totally blown away by how different from Jane's it was. Eric Avery is such a great musician.

  • killer...had never seen this back in the day...great album...i miss '90s Dave...

  • Thank you for posting this..I have this CD and it is brilliant. I wonder what Eric Avery is doing now....

  • well, he did polarbear for a few years in the 90's and worked as a session/touring musician for peter murphy, alanis morrissette, garbage and now the smashing pumpkins.

  • You have no idea how long I've been looking for this video. I grew up listening to Deconstruction (among other bands) and never got to see more than a glimpse of it on Beavis And Butthead.

That's exactly what makes YouTube so great. It's the archive of our lives.

  • I've been looking for this video!!! THANKS FOR POSTING IT!

  • This sounds cool.

  • God they were so good. I'd love to see a Deconstruction reunion.

  • Awesome! Thanks so much for posting this super-rare clip. I had downloaded it from the Yahoo PBR group a while back, but lost it in a crash. Awesome awesome awesome!!
