Metallica went down quite a few notches when Jason left. Like the man himself says, when a huge band like this actually needs a fuckin THERAPIST to resolve their issues, then that means they had really hit rock bottom, if they couldn't resolve those issues without a friggin shrink. Back in the 80s if someone told Metallica they needed a shrink, they would tear that guy a new one. basically they have become a bunch of whiners.

@dusted04 he steered them away from their roots which is thrash. The black album was good but after that its mediocre at best. I bought their albums anyway cause we're Metallica fans and we support them. Plus and I'm not alone on this.Us die hard fans are hoping every time an album comes out that they get back to their roots.Death Magnetic did that to a point. Then LuLu WTF? Bob Rock doesn't need to be any where near metal bands. He produced Cher and I think Micheal Bolton do i need to say more?

@SitotiKurton, I have been playing bass for 22 years and I'm uninformed...OK buddy. Just listen to any old Metallica with Cliff playing bass. It's no secret Cliff Burton was as talented on bass as Randy Roads was on guitar. Newsted didn't play anything worth pushing up in the mix, that's why he was buried on most Metallica tracks. Cliff & Robert are great players, don't u think its strange you can hear them on the CD'S but you cant hear Jason? Uninformed? I think NOT ;)

@TheDaltonator1234 IMO Jason was a 15 year mistake by Metallica. He couldn't even come close to filling Cliff's shoes. Sure they had some commercial success but I and many other old fans never loved anything after "In Justice". I'm a bass player myself and as far as I'm concerned Jason added very little to Metallica musically. With the addition of Robert Metallica got back to being a all around incredibly talented band. I don't think Jason is talented enough to play most Megadeth songs.

The last CD they did and I own, Death Magnetic is garbage. 8 minute songs were proof they know nothing about arragnement or editting.

Mutt Lang is their only hope but their egos are too big to have someone that knows how to produce work with them and make them sound better.

Jason proposed 1 year off in 2001, in witch they can do their own thing, resolve there differences..and then recod the a new album. He wanted to play in a band called Ecobrain...but James didn't "allow" him to do that, he didn't want Jason to enjoy that band more then Metallica. So Jason left Metallica (in all fairness to Jase, he did think him leaving will push the band of the edge, it almost did)

In 2004, he wanted back in. Don't know exaclty what happend but the guys said no
