  • by ny chance r they the same leylands that r on another vid - good vid by the way

  • Fantastic video mate that 2100 is a dream to listen to on the forager btw what make is that a JD 3765?

  • love it

  • do ye own those yokes?

  • Nice vid owl Mick harney

  • is it true that the 2100 is know for pulling a liner.

  • Awsome,cutting as well as a modern tractor.Sounds sweet.

  • medium 3rd?

  • if we went that fast with a hay bine in canda, we would plug it.

  • @farmhandstudios I dont know much about canadian Equipment, But This is a Disc Mower Conditioner. I think what you would call a Discbine? Operating speeds can be up to 25kph compared to 13kph with haybine

  • That leyland that is mowing and blowing glass sounds to be a good going tractor. I am looking for a 2100 but there are a bit hard to get. great yoke!

  • We have to 2100 both Synchro they are the best tractor ever , and we never had any clutch problems because we came up with a little trick to solve it.

  • what do you do about the breaks?

we had a 272 syncro and the breaks were terrible,we had them mended but they were still bad.

  • Cor The Sound Of The Mowing Tractor Is Brilliant !!!

  • Nice classic silage making. nice to see older tractors but i wouldnt touch a leyland with a barge pole. notoriously unreliable.

  • What's that voice up to 5:58 ?

  • good to see these yokes still earning there keep i have 7 leylands and allways like to get them something to do thats what they where builded for

  • We had a 2100 but decided enough was enough when it had 7 breakdowns in one day. Good idea at the time but they never developed it enough before launching it and tried to do a big tractor on the cheap. As with this one it sounded great but the clutches always gave trouble and the hydraulic pump drives and the hydraulic lift capacity even with assistor rams wouldn't lift our 4 furrow reversible plough off the ground. Can suffer from overheating if worked hard. Had Nuffields and a 384 as well

  • is it not slow using one tractor to draw

  • Its a bloody pain you never get a break its non stop all day

  • Nice sound!:) That contractor seems to like driving with those old good tractors i think. I like also the old way to silaging ^^

  • What forage harvester is that? Could do with something small like that on our farm!

  • Great Film.Brings back memories of when i was a kid.much more interesting to watch than the silage making of today!

  • Bring back the doubble chop!!!!!!!!!!

    good aul days

  • marshalls and leylands wud nearly be the same thing wudnt they?

  • nice vid!! we got a leyland 272 and a 384 both r real beautys!!

  • nice vid, good job well done. im glad you didnt edit music over it. nothing wrong with the kit your using but the only trouble with hauling with a 2wd tractor is that you dnt get very good braking, other than that its all good

  • What a great pair of Classic Leylands

  • nice sound..leyland

  • What a nice pair of Leylands. Shame the guy carting cuts accross the rows though.

  • this is farming without billions in subsidy. You got my respect. The video is great farm work. Beats those pretty shining hoods you see in other videos.

  • Yes I lived under a 21 for years!

  • we had same setup some crack then

  • Great Video, Is that a 2100 mowing? I thought they had exhaust coming out back of the cab?

  • About how much H.P. was a 2100 Leyland? I grew up near a dealer here in the U.S.that sold Leyland tractors, but I've never seen a 2100.Nice looking michine for it's age though.

  • thats what made good drivers 2 day

  • This is exellent, a credit to the owner for keeping these fine machines in every day use. It reminds me of our own silage setup 2wd, steep ground and under powered.

  • I agree with the comment about driving over the swarth, never liked it, anything could fall off and get picked up by the harvester, worst thing I ever picked up was a car tyre, some job to get that out!!!!!

  • nice to see a old leyland still doing what it was built to do

  • Great to see this sort of machinery still working hard, I used to cut with a Taarup fine chop and Fiat 1300 super, 5000 drawing and an International on the pit,(West Cork) no video only stills, great times, last cut in 1983, all gone too big and expensive now, Tony

  • If you can try and put a slideshow together with the photos of your setup-it's be great to see!

  • we contract with classics 2

  • You will never beat the leyland such a good little tractor and so easy repair.

  • old machines but good

  • What country is that Ireland or UK?

  • Ireland, Kildare/Wicklow border.

  • Would it not be more cost efficient and faster to use a contractor?

  • It is a contractor ! (Doesn't do very many jobs any more though)

  • Sorry, I assumed it was a farmer doing his own work. The only ones you see using that kind of equipment now days are farmer cutting there own silage, and they are few and far between.

Its nice to see that kind of equipment working in 2007, but can't see many wanting to hire it.

  • Well, still alot to be said for the trailed harvester, grass coming in nice and slow gives alot of time for rolling the pit, key to good quality silage?

  • Fella drawing the silage looks like an amateur :) driving all over the grass just been cut. Although he does seem delighted with his Leyland

  • damn nice leylands!

    I have a turbo 282 and a 6cyl 285.

Those old BMC's sound a bit rough with turbos though.

  • Nice to see a 2100 hard at work im from Co.Wexford and juring the 90's we had a 2100 on standby for our JF mower which was powered by a David Brown 1690 2wd back in the early days we used

David Brown 1200's and a Nuffield 6 cylinder with a lorry engine it was some tractor to pull it use to do 25MPH in second gear and always was doing wheels!

we now use all David Brown 6 cylinders and a case 2290 4wd on the harvester!

  • Nice video!!! I havent't seen a silage setup like that for many years. Is that leyland on the forager a 6 cylinder?

  • Yes, it's a 2100. 6 cyl (5.8L). This one is a bit different in that it is turbocharged as well. They weren't as standard but it was added by the dealer(Mahon McPhillips, Kilkenny, Ireland) all the way back in 1981 when it was originally purchased

  • Do you have a lot of reliability problems with it? We got a 4yr old 2100 back in 1984, were bowled over by it's power (relative to what we had before), but it went through 4 clutches in 2 yrs - something to do with the mounting of the engine I believe was an issue with 6 cylinder Leylands? Anyway it went for 4th time during silaging 1986, so we had to trade it in there & then for a Ford 6600. Less power, but fewer breakdowns.... Fond memories anyway, as 2100 was what I learned to drive in

  • Very good to see...2100 Leylands working are a rare sight..Thanx

  • Its a Kidd, Crop Chop I think. basically a precision chop from the mid 80's.

  • Excellent video. Nice to see smaller silage outfits in operation. Makes a change from the usual high tech contractor stuff! By the way, what make is the harvester?
