  • His acrobatic skills saved his life when he jumped from one of the windows of the Hindenburg and grabbed a mooring rope to swing to safety.

  • Thats my great Grandfather :D

  • I'm sorry but that name is too funny. I don't get how peolpe didn't laugh just at the name

  • "Bendova" for a crazy-ass daredevil.

  • Had to stop watching after only a few seconds! I was getting physically ill!

  • hes got balls thats all i can say

  • According to some information, his name was Joseph Späh, and artist name was "Ben Dova". He was on the Hindenburg when this zeppelin had a terrible accident at arrival in USA, in 1937. He could escape. But for many years, he was suspected of sabotage on the Hindenburg. Finally FBI investigated intensively, and they conclude that he had no responsibility with Hindenburg fire. If members of his family are reading this, it would be interesting if they could confirm (or not) these information.

  • Yes. I think those accusations are just ridiculous. Captain Pruss, Charles Rosendahl etc. just thought that they made the mistakes of rushing the landing, they couldn't admit their guilt so they tried to take down Joesph Spah with the accusations.

Then, years later, several other authors decided to blame a crewman named Erich Spehl for sabotaging the Hindenburg. Now he died in the disaster... Quite mean of them to do that...

  • he is my fathers uncles brothers twice removed cousin in laws brothers sisters room mate

  • I have a slight fear of heights, but all that happens is my palms get sweaty. Needless to say, my hands were soaked after seeing this video.

  • Even though I already knew he didn't fall to his death I saw still cringing and wanting to cover my eyes. WOW.

  • I did the same in a party a few years ago... problem was I wa sactually drunk and people had no prior notice of my outstanding abilities, so thing went very, very wrong....

  • Wow.... i mean... wow

  • my asshole clenched in fear just watching that!

  • Oh my God!! This was soo long ago and yet I am still amazed!

  • I would faint if I saw that, seriously I was cringing when I saw him doing that. It can be dramatic if you're afraid of heights.

  • Now I see why fainting was reported while people were first watching this in the theaters.

  • Fantastic.

    And scary.

    (I have Acrophobia...)

  • I could do that too. I just don't wanna. :)

  • What are you talking about "imagemangler"!! There are at least three different shots of him hanging over the cityscap. look at 34-38 seconds in, and during the last 20 second as well. You should watch things more carefully before you open your mouth. By the way, I don't think there was much in the ways of editing equipment around in 1933.

  • oh my god. this video is awesome.

and to mariamousie, are you sure you can almost fall off the roof and then still manage to get back? that part is simply scary.

  • some of those old vaudville actors were just amazing!

  • There are people who can lay down on a high walk rope. Just because this guy was awesome doesn't mean it's fake. :)

  • I could do that- if I wasn't so bloated...

  • oh man that made me wanna faint just watching that...

  • This event did occur and that is non debatable. This stunt was well documented and witnessed by many. The danger was very real and despite 'stupid' camera angles this did actually occur and is a very real. The gentleman is walking alone the edge of a building without a safety line. At one point, he dangles from the edge. I realize in this day and age, when confronted with such a stunt - the word FAKE and HOAX instantly come to mind - I can assure you with 100% accuracy that this is neither.

  • Damn that guy has balls!

  • This is amazing. Found this link on thehumanmarvels DOT com

  • so did I! that website is amazing i ended up reading every story one after the other, the author has done his research and every story is written with compassion and respect! lovely!

  • me too !
