If you spin jump on them towards the center, you'll just bounce off them. There's a few projectiles in this game that you can spin jump off of as well - podoboos and hotheads, for example.

very awkward looking run there.. The ghosts were positioned differently than usual.. Is this Super Mario World(PAL) and not NTSC?

I'm pretty sure it's NTSC. The thing is, the position of the ghosts changed every time I chose the level, so in the first area I'm making blind guesses lol. Also, maybe the change of the "world" (when you beat the secret Star World place) might have something to do with it...I'm not sure.
