Read a good account once of the standard British infantry in combat. I forget if it was a french or yank but it said the lines of 'we fired once to little effect, when we fired again more of them fell, we fired a third time and it seemed as if our shots were taking dozens a time but they simply kept step over the bodies of their comrades. It was then that with one order their bayonets came down pointing at our lines and still they kept perfect slow step like a wave of a red death from hell itsel

And actually Canada is a beatiful place to live with a very rich history and culture, and given the choice I think more Europians would rather move to Canada than the US, for a start they are not 60% obese and have a growing national public sector debt of 14.3 TRILLION !!!!!!

Equal and fair representation are important, yes, but I'm very aware that if the colonies' leaders had been civil and fair about the Crown's wanting the colonies to pay for the 10 year war west of the colonies, the Revolution would never have occured. If the colonies had been civil, neither the infamous taxes nor the "no taxation without representation" never would've been a part of American history.

The Colonist payed far less then the People living in England - The tax rates in France and Spain were MUCH higher - Britian took what it needed to keep it's Colonies and Mainland protected.

As for the Founding Fathers they wanted to break that colonial hold, which they succeeded in doing. Britain armed Native American tribes and mercenaries to attack the colonies, after colonial delegation repeatedly pleaded their case to King and Parliament to reconsider their oppressive taxation policies.
