  • I love this video. Its funny that some people make such value judgements on YouTube. The reality is that YouTube has degenerated into nothing more than a continuation of adolescent attempts at self validation through establishing a false system of measuring status, and debasing others as is typical at most high schools. I keep getting the feeling that YouTube is where human intellect comes to die.

  • Fuck popularity.

  • the internets is all about attention whoring, didn't you know thaT?

  • I have no subscribers yet i have a gigantic curved G spot smasher (?) go figure!

  • no kidding, i think i have good opions, and facts, and i know i do not have a whole lot of subsrcibers, and yes everyone counts even people i do not care for, this is sad kid, way to go, another great video...

  • @whedonfreak976 Thanks :)

  • @abbynormal0ne sorry i called you kid...

  • @whedonfreak976 Lol, don't worry :D

  • @abbynormal0ne thanks, but you really do some awesome vids, on yt, i am glad you made this, i still feel the same as when i had just 8, i do not measure my page on subs, but i am glad, that people are getting into them though, but again, if someone has 3 subs, they count

  • I'm watching this vid right after watching Thunderf00t's electronic-Koran burning. I believe that having the most subs among YT atheists has driven his pompous ass into some kind of insane ego trip. I completely agree that valuing based on sub counts is silly. However right now I'm angry, and a little freaked out, that this petty and childish phenomenon has, in the case of Thunderf00t, crossed over the line into some kind of delusional grandiosity that he thinks justifies putting lives at risk.

  • @VeryEvilPettingZoo Not only that, but he believes he's beyond criticism and any little bit of dissent means that the people *must* be uneducated dolts only criticising him because they want views.

  • lol love the 'penis measuring' analogy!

  • Unfortunately I can only 'like' this once :)

  • More often than not the most popular stuff, f ex Fox News, cheesy pop songs, are often lacking in quality and content.

  • I thought penis measuring was a good enough way to put it the first time. But whatever you call it, excellent points.

  • @DavidJohnWellman Thanks. Just caught too much flack.

  • @SeaInsideHer Well, cliques never really made me very happy either. I'll talk to anyone providing they're good conversation and good people :) As for ops status, it really depends on the person. I tend to only give to people who are friends. If they abuse it, however, they lose it.

  • @reddawg7246 Too true ;)

  • @jaysoundar I don't begrudge people subscribing to whomever they like. I just don't like when users have a false sense of superiority because of the amount of subs they have.

  • Wow great video.

7" if you are wondering, who am I kidding of course your interested!

What's more important then the size of a man's junk?

  • @rarrmonkey Lol....um.....a lot? :)

  • @ItsTheSuperFly Hahaha, you should just make it, you crude dude ;)

  • Thanks for saying this Abby - saying that sub counts are important means that your first video must be the worst video in the universe, and it's only when you've uploaded 50+ to get subs that means that your opinion actually counts.

    You rock!

  • @THEMrFill Well, my first video wasn't very good XD

    Thanks :)

  • Poor, poor abby. She's clearly suffering from penis envy.

  • @VariedVids No thanks. I don't need a penis :)

  • @kcpackerfan Haha, well, you can measure boobies though...not saying you should though ;)

  • @kcpackerfan LOL

  • If subs relate to penis size then Im feeling very insecure right now

  • @SatiricalStewie Awwwww, well, it doesn't :)

  • Nice vid.

Too bad YT wouldn't let me upload a vid of me measuring my penis =P.

  • Argumentum ad Subscripitorum?

  • @lupocephalic Lol, yes, that would be the reasoning ;)

  • @abbynormal0ne

Thank FSM. The alternative nomenclature would have seemed to be "Argumentum ad Phallus". AKA "The Phallic Fallacy".

AKA Colloquially as "Talking out of the end of your Dick".

Not to be confused with "Cock Talk", which is something else entirely.

  • So....size doesn't matter?

  • @fullmetalfunk Just the content of your package....I mean character :P

  • @abbynormal0ne Haha, fair enough.

  • Brett Keane has more subs than you. Get it? lol

    I rest my case.

  • @Sarahon06 Better yet, VFX has more subs than her. XD Another case rested.

  • @Sarahon06 Lol, he *is* pretty smart //sarcasm.

  • You hit the nail on the head yet again ms abby!

  • @airplane031 Thanks.

  • can't take this girl seriously...she has barely 2500 subs..ffs

  • @danihc No one should take me seriously :P

  • Comment removed

  • What's the specific event that provoked this video?

  • @fuerve No specific event. It's just something that's annoyed me.

  • So MeridianFrost says you're flashing boobies here....

    what gives?

  • @achtungcircus No boobies :P

  • No, there's no penis measuring on YouTube. You have it wrong -- that's on YouPorn.

  • @CRUClEFICTION DRAT! I hate when I'm wrong. :)

  • I'd measure my penis but I don't have a yard stick handy.

    =-P

  • Reality check: "Charlie bit my finger" currently has 300m views.

  • @noJungleKiss And that's perfectly fine by me.

  • we call those people, retards, welcome to the nebu...LAR, where all we do here is Har, De, har, Har, sister.

  • @kcpackerfan Maybe the equivalent would be, "How deep does a woman's vagina go?"

  • ohh thank goodness, I was actually starting to think people were actually measuring their penises on the internet.

  • @Texemosis Ooft, I hope not.

  • Mine is 20 cm

  • Altghough I do think my opinions matter because of my massive manbeast.

  • Oh I thought you were actually going to be measuring penises in the video. Disapointed now.

  • "I have more subs therefore I'm right/better than you" is essentially an Ad Populum statement isn't it? And also a kind of appeal to authority? Both of these are logical fallacies. So if it's any of the alleged free thinkers doing it they need to look at themselves in the rationality mirror and slink of into the corner for a rethink...

  • @CountSpanku1a Unfortunately, there are much too many "free" thinkers who put a lot of weight in how many subscribers someone has.

  • I only have 94 subs but fortunatly that has no baring on my penis. :)

  • @greenelf12 I only have 90 subs, but my penis is HUGE

  • @adzyb69 there you go then :op.

  • Hi my name is Alan.

    HI Alan.

    I have a small penis.

    Poor schmuck.

  • So wait...Does this mean that RayWilliamJohnson is not an all knowing genius? Because I have been basing my life on that

  • @zydilak And it's good you learned that now ;)

  • But my Penis is huge. So I must be right.

  • I think I agree with you mostly. However, I have encountered more than one newbie who will start right off posturing, indicating how you should be editing your videos, how the lighting needs to be, why it is too long, too short, too bright, what ever. You go to their channels, and they have either one video up, or none, and a hand full of subs, or none. They have no cred, and thus their opinion and self merited B.S., knowledge of everything is over inflated and little more than useless. Gnats.

  • @SnowWalkerPrime There's that, of course, and people post that on my videos too. You have to be more careful with what you say if you're not a videographer and you post non-comments like that.

  • Imagine a world where sub count DID determine your worth: HAIL FRED!

P.S. TheMeanKitty has more subs than just about the entire atheist community combined. HAIL THEMEANKITTY! :P

  • @kirke420 HAIL MEAN KITTY!

  • you are very right but the contest is not about the amout of subscribers but believing that having more makes them better

  • My opinion doesn't not matter because I only have 10 subscribers, my opinion doesn't matter because I'm lame!

  • @LinkMEP :( I'm sure you're not lame.

  • I totally disagree; I have only 24 subs, so my opinion does not count at all ;-)

  • @skinnyjohnsen Awwww, I think it does.

  • Fuck the subscriber limit, it is penis size that count when it comes to who opinion counts more. So who penis is smaller them my huge 3''er

  • @DebateCreation hahahahaha, good to know.

  • @AcceptNoBullshit Piss off : )

  • John Cleese summed this up by asking "did you know that a man's penis is also used for peeing with?"

  • @krunchee22 Lmao, Mr. Cleese is a very intelligent man.

  • You are right but using the word penis in your title is no better. lol

  • @FIRSTGLADI8R I used the word purposefully to poke fun at the childishness of the whole thing. I've also now changed it. I decided I didn't like it.

  • @AcceptNoBullshit Yeah, thats why I thing its wrong to call it penis measuring. Females on youtube do this as well.

  • Wayne?

  • @reafdaw01 Garth?

  • measuring in millimeters boosts self esteem....

  • @gothatfunk Don't know about you, but I measure mine in light seconds. :D

  • @gothatfunk I wonder if I should measure in yards to make my waist seem smaller.

  • Wait...I have a Penis :)

  • @MyDarkJournal Excellent!

  • @abbynormal0ne *goes to measure*

  • The only time I've given two hoots about my sub numbers was before I even made videos and I kept deleting dead accounts or people who subbed me for some unknown reason. That was because I had said I would start making vids when I reached 100 so I did my best to never reach 100. LOL

Now, I never think about it. I'm just glad to get a few comments on the rare occasion I actually make a video.

  • @debbieomi Exactly. I don't care at all about how MANY subs I have. I much prefer to have a core list of really good conversation partners and friends than a huge list of subs.

  • Unless of course you have a quantum penis! You may measure it's speed but not it's location.

    My Dad told me that.

  • @THEHARMONIKZ Hahahaha, so what would happen if you measured it's location? Ohhhhh, how I love quantum physics.

  • Well, bigger penis means heavier delivery => more impact ...

now that sounded all wrong. What I mean is bigger audience, the more get the brunt of the opinion, okay doesn't sound right either.

But damn you, bigger means better right in this context. With bigger audience to receive penis. Huh.

    I will stop now.

  • @HRage Lol, maybe so, but the quality of the content does not rely on the size of the package. :P

  • Easy for you to say when your penis is bigger than mine ;)

  • @Celephais42 It's a cute little penis though.

  • a large part of yt is so highschool It amazes me how many 20 something to 30 year olds will change themselves to not act as such to attract the tween audience and then think they're the greatest thing ever to happen to yt for doing that

  • @IncidentalShine I completely agree. I think they done lost their minds.

  • If you think this is mainly male problem... you're wrong.

  • @LatumWay I certainly don't think it's a male problem. I wasn't using it in a sexist manner. Perhaps the saying implies a gender, but most language does anyhow.

  • Thanl you Abby! On behalf of all the guys out there with small....uh....small numbers of subscribers. Heck, I don't know why I have ANY subscribers seeing I've never made a video.

  • @itsonlymepeople Lol, well, maybe they subbed you in hopes that you would :)

  • I totally agree...and so do my 35 subscribers.

  • @modernoverdrive Awww, well, I don't think the number matters as long as you are a productive discusser :)

  • CHANNEL=PENNIS/SUBS=PENNIS SIZE= WIN DEFINITION.

    Loved that Abby.

  • @graphattic Haha, thanks.

  • I'm outraged, too! Comparing subscriber numbers is no substitute for an actual penis measuring contest, dammit! When will people ever learn...

  • @NoNiceNameFound Lol, do you often have those?

  • @abbynormal0ne

Not anymore. Always losing became too frustrating...

  • JAH! :)

  • I agree with you. It is nice to have a reasonable number of folk watch your vids because you get a better debate going on, but sub count measures nothing and means nothing.

Personally, i would sooner respond to a topic I am interested in from a yt'er with very few subs than try and engage a larger channel on a less interesting subject with less prospect of a response.

  • @noelplum99 Exactly. I also like to watch lesser-known users because I'm more likely to get a reply from that person than if I were to respond to a wildly popular user.

  • You'r so right, look at mine, it's a new..............äääähhhh...channel.

  • I agree 1000%

  • hey....it's not childish...I challenge you all to a penis measuring contest!!!

  • @AHughman08 You'd win v.v

  • Dear Abby,

    Yes, I agree 100%!!!

I despise the obsession with 'Subscriber Counts' because it's one of the worst examples of the obsession with Quantity here on Youtube, judging success by measuring the 'Quantity' of something never the 'Quality.'

As you say in this video, the most that high subscriber count means is that you are being watched by more people. I often wish that some Youtubers had more subs for that reason. But to judge a person's intelligence or videos by this criteria? o_O

  • @Ujames1978 I don't particularly care about being watched by more people. I just would like to talk to cool people about interesting things. If that gets me subs, well, I guess that's just part of the territory. To be fair, I was treated pretty unfairly by some users on youtube until my sub count got to be around 1k. Then they backed off.

  • I have 12 subscribers. Just saying.

  • penis measuring? I can't find that tab anywhere. Is it in the insight section? I'm a funny commenter and my penis is long, etc.

  • @Pulchism Lol, well, good.

  • @abbynormal0ne actually, I do think sub count is really important if your trying to be an entertainer or "artist" of some kind on here. In my case I have to be honest and say the support of subscribers really helps, its the only way to get feedback that I'm not wasting my time -- though the only way to get subs in the first place was to throw some crowd pleasers out there and piggy back a little on other people (I say crowd pleasers, I cant verify significant pleasing actually takes place)

  • @Pulchism I know that having a sub count makes things easier on youtube, but I still find it irritating. I caught a lot of crap for even the most benign comments I'd leave on users' pages when I didn't have many subs, and now those same users treat me fine. I don't know if it's because I've been around for a while or because of the subs. :/

  • @abbynormal0ne its all very complex. There are definitely a lot of clannish types using the tubes, and I think these comment sections and perhaps the whole time-lapse/ distance communication/ anonymity thing can bring out the worst prejudices and jealousies in people. Notwithstanding plain asses with holes in them that you would normally spot and steer clear of in the real world.

I'm interested though, what kind of benign comment are you talking about?

  • @Pulchism I said something to the effect of "I'm a {thing}, and I don't think that way." Response was, "If you are a {thing} then you ARE that way. No argument." It happened in many different kinds of videos but the general gist was as previously stated. I even had people follow me around to other videos and keep picking at me.

  • @abbynormal0ne good grief! angry people with more free time than sense. Assholes!

  • @Pulchism It's ok. It happens much less frequently now :)

  • @abbynormal0ne also, I just noted that you take care with your comment sections. So I would say you have earned your sub count through first winning people over to your views and that might explain your increased standing over time, rather than the other way round. Like you just did with me. Wow, I feel hypnotised.

  • @Pulchism I figure if people care enough to comment, then the least I can do is respond if they make an interesting comment :)

  • LOL you're so right!!!!!!

  • @AnnikaGarratt Hugs.

  • The popularity contest doesn't stop until you're dead. People don't outgrow childish tendencies. They just express them differently as they grow older. YouTube illustrates this perfectly.

  • @GluteusIlluminatus I know that.....I just wish it weren't so. Unfortunately, they don't express themselves much differently than in high school. The terminology hasn't even changed.

  • People are goobers.

    What can you do?

  • @DavidNeanders Pout :)

  • What kicked this off? Who's been pissing Abby off?

    Bad users! Patch smash!

  • @gabiotta Oh, it's been building for a while :)

  • I totally agree with you, but it isn't going to end any time soon. People want to be "famous." What is more important to me is how many interesting people I meet and the discourse in the comment sections.

  • @Illuminatta I know. I still don't like it :(

  • Agree with the gist of what you're saying but......"Penis measuring contest" ? so it's only men that do this or a sexist remark?

  • @XDukemoothieX No, I was only using it as a colloquialism. Women do it too.

  • Well said :D

  • I don't have a large sub count, I've been on here for years. Because I don't push my videos.

  • @spaceman300 I don't even add tags anymore.... (well except for the rare occasion)

  • @spaceman300 I think your vids are very fun, mate. :)

  • I'm glad I don't make anything video-wise. So glad...

  • @yersubconscious Well, if you have something to say, don't be afraid of saying it :)

  • What? Fred for president! And I piss way too many people off to have mega subs XD

  • @rozeboosje Fred.....has a "film" career now.

  • @abbynormal0ne I *sob* know

  • I agree wholeheartedly sweet heart. But, I would point out in my experience most people (if not forced by their own experiences) never grow up. i've seen 80 year olds play malicious 'high school' games with each other. I think the more apt appraisal is that humans, if they cannot get their way, or what they want. Will regress to a sort of childish posturing, just to try it on! As sometimes it still works for them. Just sayin, don't think it necessarily just 'childish' behaviour.

  • @Christopholaes I know. I wish they did.

  • At a certain point it seems higher sub counts correlate to lesser penetration into the issues discussed. In part this may be due to the point that pleasing many can require less pith in the message, or shorter time spent upon each key entry point for the discussion. Also, as sub counts grow this may influence the one pumping out such popular videos to stick to what is working for subs & spend less attention on matters that wouldn't get so much attention.

  • @gedgetips Lol, I couldn't have said it better myself XD

  • I have never given my opinion on youtube and I have subscribers. Does this make me infinitely better than everyone else?

  • @Michigan1985 Yes, you are.

  • Sub counts are kinda like cocks, it's nice to have a lot going on down there, but whether it's 6 inches or 6 subs if you know how to work your channel, it gets the job done :D

  • @edenscancer Work it, baybeh.

  • man, boohoo... I can hear the Waaaah-mbulance on it's way.

  • @moungy Huh?

  • the internet allows people to let their inner child to call the shots, surley youve noticed this by now.

soo many attention whores on youtube please dont be upset by them, they have no life, have some sympathy.

  • @DrOrphious79 I just don't like how they treat other people.

  • i actually thought that somebody was gonna talk about penis measuring... : 0

  • @matreyia Sorry to disappoint.

  • ive been on utube for almost 4 years and have 5 subs !!!!! Whooo hoooo on my way to ah wait a minute whats the big deal ????

  • @neilx666 Lol, it's not :)
