The BBC used to show these films all of the time back in the 70's and 80's, when I was a kid. And, although, even then they were considered old-fashioned, I still used to watch them. Nowadays, though, they're not shown, and I guess it's kind of justified. But, it would be nice to see/hear them again, even if it were for old time's sake.
@JFredUK Yes, I was also a kid in the 70s/80s and used to watch (and love) Formby films shown on the BBC. I suspect the majority of kids these days would just find it boring. The good thing is the best films have been released on DVD, but beware of cheap bad reproduction unofficial copies.
I'm ten years old, eleven in May, but I think George Formby is actually the best person ever! Well, my mates think I'm really crazy because I told them I like it more than Jessie J and all the other new bands, but I don't care. He really is better!
What fantastic entertainment. This kind of stuff just does not exist today. Here is a wonderful extract from a George Formby song, I know not which, that just captures his wonderful risque humour of his songs and recordings.. "A crowd outside the bakers in town, what they saw it made them frown, 'cause a tart in the window was upside down"
George co-wrote a lot of stuff with Eddie Latta, who was a local undertaker in Warrington who buried George when he died
Thanks so much for posting this. I'm a Yank, who if you can believe it, only heard of George Formby a short while ago. This song is one of my favorites! It brings a smile every day.
I am only 11 and this stuff is the kind of music that puts a spring in my step every day just because of how cheerful he is when it's

@amyrocket123 - Perhaps it's not to their taste, not everyone likes this sort of music.

A face that only a mother could love...but VERY talented and what a uke player!

Will 'Brylcream' ever come back into fashion ? Love this film - pure propaganda /cheer making during a dreadful time for those around at that time .
