beautiful song. always think of my exgf when i hear it. me & her saw shane & co. in atlanta a few years ago. was amazing. unfortunately missed a song or two when we had a drunken row. i cursed her out & she knocked my beer on the ground.
Dunno.. but apart from the great music Shane did, a whole own class imo, his looks make him appearing kinda sympathetic. He appears to me like a pleasent person to have around. Makes it even more enjoyable to listen to those songs.

The band has been around for like 100 years, and people are still going on about Shane. He is not misunderstood, that was like 15 years ago. Today, he is known as one of the great Irish poets. One of the greats among Keats, Joyce and the rest of them. So please stop and enjoy the poet instead.
i was at this concert it was out off this it was great like begin at a punk gig he also played in belfast on new years eve 1985 they started at 12 midnight and played half the night and the only concert that came anywhere near was the specials at christmas but then i waited 30 years to see them
Fan of The Pogues? Check out their friends Greenland Whalefishers from Norway (est. 1994)! Critics today says Greenland Whalefishers has taken the heritage from The Pogues and developed it into something different and their own. Punk fanzines all over the world describes Greenland Whalefishers as The Pogues on speed or The Pogues turned up to eleven on attitude, speed and sound. Google for Greenland Whalefishers website for more info, videos and lyrics!!!
One of my favorite's, I've only heard him live twice, in '94 with The Popes and then in Dec '02 I think it was, in The Point with The Pogues (the re-union), correct me if I'm wrong. Walked down the street to the place behind the late, great, Ronnie Drew RIP
This was 17 march 1988, not 1987. I own the DVD, it's brilliant, go buy it! There is a documentation from the same period of time on there called "Completely Pogued" with great interviews and footage...worth buying!

@MrRoebert I dont know about a pub, but I bet there will be a great seafood place. When Jesus came back and visited his homies in J-town (Jeruslem for the uninitiated) he went straight for some grilled fish and bread. I'll probably open a macdonalds franchise if someone else hasnt beat me to it ;)
Pogues are the best. That's not an opinion. that's a fact. Every Pogues song is good, every single one is as good as the next. Bands like Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones, etc. only have certain good songs. Every Pogues song is good though.
If anyone wants to see this full concert, check my profile. Mine is the better quality version that I capped from a Japanese laserdisc. This is the Euro VHS version (you can tell by the overscan on the bottom of the picture).
No offense to you, of course, niceandeasy (and thanks for posting this video). I'd have probably gone with the cheaper VHS copy, myself, if I didn't live in North America (NTSC land, where our VCRs are incompatible your PAL standards).

Heard the men coming home from the fair at shinrone
