  • Mine has a bunch of lines and shit after it got run over by a car so I am wondering if I should pay $50 for a new screen cuz I'm not sure if it is the screen. Help me please what should I do

  • the harder the glass is, the more scratch resistant it is. But as with most things hard, they will shatter/break on impact.

  • Well you have a couple cracks ..but no scratches so it WORKS!

  • Gorilla glass is a gimmick. It's meant for retards who put phones in the same pocket as a ring of keys.

  • It's hard, meaning it doesn't scratch, but this makes it brittle

as opposed to plastic screens which are relatively soft (get covered in scratches, but don't shatter)

  • dropped mine form less than 2 ft on tile floor. shatered it like a spider web.

  • Two points 1, gorilla glass is NOT indestructible 2 that looks to be the LCD screen thats broke

  • Mine shattered from a fall from 3 ft.

  • I am now on my second piece of hardware - my first Streak's screen went totally fucked - I never dropped it, or got it near water. Got my replacement device, and now the same problem has happened again. What the fucking fuck is wrong with this fucking phone??????????

  • you can buy a replacement screen on eBay or Amazon for $40 bucks. Video tutorials are available on YouTube.

  • i simply put my phone in my pocket, and when i took it out, my fucken screen was cracked, i didnt do anything, i cant see anything on screen, like wtf, i only had this streak for 40 days, and i cant even return it.

  • watch?v=_5QwrusAWiw

in this video .the guy seems to hit the dell streak much hardly.but no any effect..now u explain me

  • Did you sell it yet?

  • In mother Russia, Gorilla Glass Breaks YOU!!

  • must have dropped it on a hard surface

  • Its just because its a damn dell streak.....sorry but they arnt phone makers....their computers arnt even that great...they should stick to computers only. dropped many other phones...galaxy s....htc inspire 4g and never once had a problem even when it was on my lap and i forgot and jumped out of my truck...flew at least 10 feet on concretethis does suck tho man!!! id cry if this happened to any of my phones haha

  • Had my Dell streak for 2 days and my 3 yr old was playing angry birds and cracked the screen, so much for the gorilla glass they boast about. I had an iPhone for the past 3 yrs and my kids never cracked the glass on those, looks like I am going back to the iPhone. Only switched to the streak because of the size of the screen, huge mistake.

  • I shot about 200 rounds with my gattling gun on the Gorilla glass and my streak took it pretty well. I'm just kidding, I don't own a streak, yet, neither do I own a gattling gun, yet.

  • Same problem here.. it cracked on the floor from a few cm drop.. free repair from dell, but then with the cover placed on my motorbike box and cracked this time the LCD..

Of all my previous phones this one is BY FAR the most fragile...

  • WTF..i just ordered it..and now..!!!????

  • dude you should have added the dropping video, unless you faked it or you are full of crap. I dropped my phone and it did not break at all this is fake hahahha

  • @FerdieRamos33 umm.... if I dropped it on accident why would I have a video of it? I throw my hero around all the time and it's fine to. I dropped the streak on a hard floor. Its legit.

  • @theamazingaustin barely dropped mine and it broke from like 1 foot not even!

  • @FerdieRamos33 nope sorry mine slid of my car seat onto the carpeted floor, about a foot drop and it shattered. got a new one same thing this time from coffee table to carpet and it cracked not as bad as the last time but still pretty po'ed. Love all the pressure test on flat surfaces. That will never show how durable it is on the phone with space between it and inside of the phone.

  • Hey do you have any means to fix it?

Or have you fixed it yet?

I've dropped mine just yesterday. The actual screen part is ok but the glass is cracked. Do you know where i can find the front replacement housing?

  • @superasian827 I gave up trying to find a place. Your best bet is to but one off ebay / craigslist that the screen still works and swap it, ooorrrrr sell yours on ebay / craigslist for 100$.

  • pretty weak.... i dropped my motorola milestone down my bunk bed onto wood floor, i also dropped it on concrete, and a friend (not a friend anymore) threw it across the room with concrete floors, and its still 100% intact, with 1 small dent on the side, which isn't visible when it has its case on

  • "indestructible" is not a challenge

  • @swift1842 hahaha!

  • lol i have this phone and i dont even see how that is possible hahahaha. sucks for you I'm 6'4'' 260 and i sit on this thing no problems.

  • @Skyhighblu Because your butt isn't made of hard tile! (thank goodness!) :)

  • There is a difference between hard and tough, like comparing aluminum to steel. Hard is also brittle, and this screen is super brittle! I dropped mine from just over one foot onto a vinyl floor and it cracked (and flaked). "Gorilla glass" was a bad call on Dell's part. You can protect a screen from scratches with a $10 screen cover, but if it can't handle a short drop without cracking that's a problem.

  • @BobAkimbo That is probably the best description anyone has given. A good point.

  • I would cry...

  • mine is exactly the same... i dropped it from my lap onto the floor.... ive had mine a week too. diggin out my nokia 3310 :-S

  • mine broke earlier, again height of approximatley 4 feet only it shattered all over, what a rip off. gorrilla glass my ass, my blackberrys still in one peice and that fell the same time as this, fucking rediculous if i must say, one question though is it covered by warranty? and is it repairable?

  • i know the feeling hun mine lasted 2 weeks from a 3 foot drop and shattered the whole screen..... mine is totaly wrote off.... tho mine did not break the lcd.... just the touch bezel...

  • So, how do we know that u didnt really hammer it or gun it?

Show us the video how u dropped it and broke the glass, then I'll take your words,

Otherwise, this video is rubbish! Beside, it's the inner LCD that u broke, not the

    glass

  • @KNARFN70 You don't. I could have dropped it out of a plane for all you know. But what would I gain from lying about that? Don't take my word if you don't want to- but many comments with like problems back up what I said. And if you took the time to see other comments, I confirmed that the outside *gorrila glass* is what is broken, AND the LCD. Both. The glass is chipped and flaking off on the edge even.

  • @theamazingaustin post a video i geus? also u apperently droped it on its corner...

  • Humm, it looks like more like a throw from 4 feet.

  • @Gondee It landed on tile, so it had a pretty harsh landing. It really was dropped though, not thrown.

  • @theamazingaustin : It happened to my dell streak too :( it suppose to be so reliable... :( i can not use it at all... :(

  • gorilla glass #FAIL

  • @1129w Nobody said it was indestructible. Even in the corny science class esque demonstration they have, he never says indestructible, he simply says "significantly stronger". That doesn't mean the possibilities of the glass breaking on fall are gone, it means that if you drop your device, the chances of it breaking are less than if it were plain glass.

  • Probeblly a Mon. or Friday unit at just b4 lunchtime

  • at least the screen still works, you gotta give dell some credit for making half the screen work

  • I have dropped my Dell Streak as well and the glass is totally broken. Dell does not repair or replace, and there is no shop in the market that replace the screen, so please do not buy this device as if you dropped you will end up with a debit of £416 and no phone. I had it for 3 days only and it is totally useless. I will enter with a claim in a Court in London, if anybody with the same issue wants to join me you are more than welcome!

  • @szieve dude, it's a cell phone video, you cant see ANYTHING "clearly" with this quality. The lcd AND glass are broken. There are little chunks of glass missing on the edge even. The glass IS broken.

  • As you can see clearly, the glass is not broken at all.. What is broken are the lcd cells. The gorilla glass covers the front of the phone.

  • You didn't break the glass, you broke the lcd behind it.

  • I think, Gorilla Glass is, "Anti-Scratch".

You'll notice, that there aren't any scratches on the Glass.

It works, like it's supposed to.

    Come on.

    Who frequently drops a Phone?

That would be like, going Scuba-Diving, with a Rain-Proof Phone and saying, "It's supposed to be Water-Proof!".

    Seriously...

    Dime BAR!

  • @shadowolf192 I definately agree about the scratches. But "Who frequently drops a phone?" - Pretty much everybody that I know that owns a phone! :)

  • @shadowolf192 i have a few scratches on the front of mine, along with the crack it just got :-/

  • hi do you now knowy where from I can get glass screan for dell strak?thanks

  • This is a load of crap i had my phone 1 week the new dell streak and its shattered its no stronger than normal glass

  • @ladynicholacooper reading these comments, i'm thinking it's the dell streak. I've seen countless stress tests on other phones, no breaking without mega force.

Maybe it has to do with the size of the streak?

  • I managed to break my glass within a month of having phone, when i tripped over and it was in my pocket!!

  • @perpetual121 My thoughts exactly. [replace iPone with android] (andy fanboy)

  • Im calling bs on claims of a 4 feet drop even a 20ft drop wouldnt cause damage like that. try proving it by dropping on camera on the other side since its already broken.

  • @xdude420x Ha, then drop yours and tell me how it ends. ;P Joking, but really, the floor is hard, and while it is a tough screen, you can see it hit on the edge. And no, it probably wouldn't have shattered had it dropped on the camera side - theres no huge piece of glass on that side!

  • mine was only 3 feet and 20 days and just the same bud

  • Four feet? More like you smashed it with a hammer bro.

  • @moofassa22 nonsense

  • @moofassa22 haha, no way bro, i was going to sell it! did I stab the heck out of the remaining half of the screen after I dropped it? (and this video is BEFORE the stabbing) YES! And let me tell you it is TOUGH when STABBED, like nobody's business.

  • No matter how tough it it. Fact is its still glass.

  • That's worrying. Hope they replace it FOC for you. Think I shall have to ensure that mine is covered on the insurance.

  • @diysgog Well I got mine free via beta testing - so I doubt they care. But I can hope! :)

  • @theamazingaustin Hi, something similar happened mine, I knocked the phone while in my pocket, the glass is perfect but the lcd is wrecked underneath and is unviewable, I only have it 21 days and O2 in UK said 'too bad'

  • @diysgog why the hell should they replace it ? He dropped it from 4 feet !

  • @cowboydom would be good PR. It IS supposed to be near indestructible after all. Obviously for 'nearly indestructible' read 'fragile' :)

  • @diysgog I have respect for all comments so, just want to say that first. However I completely disagree with you - your comment "indestructible read "fragile" " You should expect an electronic device designed TO BE HELD IN THE HANDS, has a DISPLAY SCREEN and soldered components inside it to break if you drop if from 4 feet ! As for good PR to replace it - nonsense thats like me saying oh i crashed my car in to a fence, Ford should fix it for free because it makes them look good. What next ?

  • @cowboydom whatever dude. We are never going to agree.

  • @cowboydom Agreed! (although I really wish they would! :P)

  • @perpetual121 I've dropped my iPhone dozens of times, including while riding a bike. Not a scratch!

  • mine fell off the bed and clipped a mug.. the glass is fine but the lcd screen destroyed :-( Trying to get it fixed..but struggling to get hold of spare parts

  • @prawnballs99 If you have success, shout my way, pls. :)

  • Well, don't lose your phone.. LOL

  • Wow. Sorry to see that. None of the other vlogs did a drop test - they stabbed the glass with ball point pens. What kind of surface did it land on (concrete, hard wood, tile)?

  • @TS7019 Ha, well now we know! :D It *was* tile. But my HTC hero has taken MUCH worse falls, multiple times I've dropped my Hero out of a car, screen down, then hopped out and actually stepped on it, and yet it was fine (tho a few new scratches). I was pretty dissappointed.

  • 4 foot? damn! gorilla glass is not that good!

  • @rockysiccion09 It really is dude, but just not when dropped. Seriously look at some test videos of dell streak being brutally murdered with screwdrivers. Its Tough.
