  • Very good dance and great technique but in my opinion there was a little too much floor work and I would have liked to see more pirouettes and fuetes and stuff like that

  • I have a question, what is the difference betwean Lyrical dance and Contemporary dance? Are they the same? Thanks!

  • @zanuxiite contemporary is a mixture of ballet and jazz technique, lyrical is a little more ballet, but not as structured and both are usually choreographed to the music

  • @megazineton also, this isn't contemporary...it is lyrical. Two VERY different dance styles...Dance is whatever you want it to be, in my opinion :)

  • If she can win I can kick ass.

  • She earned a PLATINUM at an international DANCE competition. So yes, she can DANCE.

  • I want to shoot whoever choreographed this in the face.

  • This dance is so amazingly gorgeous. In my honest opinion it was very good and she is a very talented dancer.I loved it.

  • that awkward moment when the top 2 comments are fighting with each other and u dont know who's side to go on

  • @megazinetom How is this gymnastics? She does not do ONE move that could even fit into an "acro" category. She really does not do one single thing that has to with gymnastics. Your comment, my fellow youtuber, is SHIT.

  • wonderful performance! one of the best i have seen in a while.

  • How the fuck is this gymnastics . If this was gymnastics on floor , they would be doing maybe cross tumbling , and less slow music , and I wouldn't call them tricks , I would call them skills . Skills you can learn. Gymnastics is less artistic in dancing , but it would be a very cool thing to learn, like bars , vault , beam , and floor . This is dancing , it just may be a bit boring to some people . Every one sees things differently . She just should've danced more as in moving the body around .

  • How did i get here from songs in real life 3?

  • people are such haters, she amazing. stfu.

  • she's not even kepping in time with the music

  • @Chelaea1 um clearly she is.... good try though

  • this shows that you can dance..... but you're not a dancer. this just shows that you can turn and you are flexable, anyone can learn how to do that, but it takes an artist with true passion to create the story and life in their dance. a dancer dances with their soul and with every fiber in their being, not like this.

  • I'm not saying it isn't impressive, it just has nothing to do with dancing and to me it is boring. And there is no "defenition" of dance BECAUSE it is an art form, you can't define something that is never finished, as Da Vinci once said: "Art is never finished".

(The hardest thing about true art is not being beautifull and technical but really moving people emotionally).

  • @megazinetom like I said, you don't know a THANG. Well, ecept how to use google of course.

  • I wouldn't be able to tell you whether she was good or not, or if I liked it because I fell a sleep somewhere around 35 seconds :)

  • @megazinetom I agree with you completely.

  • when was this competition? i think i may have been at that competition...

  • Leg lift at 2:18-2:32 was cool, but really girl, FEEL THE MUSIC!!!!!!! For lyrical you must connect one movement to the other and express ALL of your feelings. Either than that, you were pretty ok. ;)

  • Point your toes, straighten those long legs of yours, and you need to bring out the feel more. It was still very good and your a VERY talented dancer, but there are some technical issues that NEED to be fixed. But WOW!! When you held your leg up like that close to the end... that was amazing!!!!!!!!! I almost got chills. Ya, just put more emotion and you'll be good:)

  • she's getting into a possition and freezing she needs to flow more make it look more natural

  • @megazinetom, and that is exactly the difference between dancing for competition and dancing through your heart... not for points or a blue ribbon because you can't award highest expression - it's in a category of its own. Artwork can't truly be judged against others. Dance, music, and art is subjective to anyone who sees it.

  • I don't think this lacks emotion at all!

  • you just went through the motions of the choreography, dude you gotta feel it.

  • it wasnt terrible... i just think there wasnt enough... she has amazing control and it looked good.. it just had a lot of parts where i feel like she just held the move before to stretch out the dance.

  • Whatever. I loved it. It inspired me for the lyrical solo I have to choreograph for march <3 Thanks so much! You're amazing!

  • this really isn't moving it's just some moves lined up together...

  • contemporary ahah you people make me laugh i bet your double jointed anyway + i am 13 and even ino what comtemporary is about so please go get some lesson you movements are ment too be fluent and what are you doing at 1:50 - 1:52 you look like you have fallen you dance is not that good and i not beeing nasty but one day if you think you are brill but then you go too the real world you will get smacked in the face so i dont mean too make you feel bad

  • Point. Your. TOES!

  • Mother Lord Jesus Almighty pleeeease point your toes

  • this is beautiful, any of u trashing this are obviously NOT dancers and havent the slightest idea what dance is. this is probably a lot better than any of you could do.

  • Comment removed

  • The only thing that bugged me was she didn't pointe her toes throughout the dance:(

  • this is dance people and no this is not gymnastics. ive done gymnastics all my life and ive danced. obviously you dont know the difference. this IS dance. stop being so negative and give her some praise.

  • i don t think this is dancing... her movements doesnt fit the music at all... and where´s expression?? you´re flexible, but thats all...

  • feet dirty

  • her feet is dirty

  • this is lyrical dance.. im in lyrical and we do a tiny bit of gymnastics in lyrical.. and lyrical is a mix of ballet and jazz kinda i think :P .. and its emotional kind dance :P

  • I see why people may think this is gymnastics.. She doesn't let her self flow with the music it's as if she just does the movement. Nevertheless I do give her props on her technique.

  • Im not saying anything about the quality of her movements, I'm just saying it isn't dance. Dance is like speaking, you combine words to make a phrase and you combine the phrases to make a story. What I see here is only words, there is abselutely no connection between the movements. Her body isn't telling a story she's only jabbering some words. This, to me, isn't dance but just showing off how well you can pronounce different movements.

  • This is really weird i know people think that it is beautiful, but I think its kind of i can't explain. But she is a good dancer

  • ok then... o.O

  • i dont care if her routine wasnt the best. she most likely did not choreograph it. most of the girls in these competitions dont. but i do love the way she carried out the motions. they all had power behind them and her expressions could be worked on, but thats not reason for me to bash her over the internet. very good job jillian :)

  • This looks like you are trying to show to world that you can do the splits. It needs more dancing and less stretching out your legs.

  • have to agree with the most that your expressions are NOT good maybe a bit more focus and turns and jumps could be more involved but i liked your locomotion!

  • shes pretty much acting as u can see her expression looks fake, dance with your soul like u love it but i hav 2 say it was very powerful!

  • I agree she is fluid and stuff but technically from a dance perspective she isnt very expressive

  • @megazinetom I feel this way sometimes when watching these dances. It should look like the music is moving you. I'm not a dancer (sadly) but I get bored when it's all jumps/tricks.

  • @megazinetom it is not gymnastics or dance it is lyrical dance

  • @megazinetom Hmm, so she had two sout de chats, one calypso, and one interesting spinny thing (that I have no idea what to call) on the ground. And the turns were a couple of chaînés, pirouettes, and piqué turns. To be completely honest, if you are calling this gymnastics, then classical ballet must be gymnastics as well since most of those elements are done in multiples in many classical variations. Granted, there are other elements in these variations, but there are other elements here, too.

  • @megazinetom Also! You should look up your definition of "Contemporary Dance." Generally it is described by its more "abstract" qualities and its freedom from restrictions as to what a dancer can and cannot do (while classical ballet is quite rigid in that sense). Some of the best contemporary dances that I have seen have included some more acrobatic movements. Once again, it has to be paired with other components of dance, but these tricks can most definitely add a spicy edge to things! :)

  • @megazinetom Gymnastics my ass. You can say its not cotemporary as much as you'd like, but this is DEFINTALEY NOT gymnastics -_-

  • @canttouchthis891 I totally agree. This is NOT gymnastics.

  • @megazinetom this isnt at all gymnastics?? this is obviously a very moving and soulful peace. but it really doesnt matter wat u say because im sure she...and i.. can dance 1000 times better than you.

  • @megazinetom I didn't feel like her dance was all about tricks; I think she used the tricks to emote, and did it successfully. Also, don't forget that this was a competition; showing off your skill is kind of the point.

  • @megazinetom i agree apsolutely with you

  • @megazinetom there is a difference between contemporary and lyrical smart one...

look at the story.. and feel her... she did it amazingly

  • @megazinetom the definition of dance, if you are wise, is movement of the body. "jumps, turns and tricks" are moving your body in a difficult and beautiful way. My fellow youtubers, this, is art.

  • @megazinetom nope last time i checked this is dance not gymnastics. doing nothing but movement is just boring and beside if your in a competition your supposed to be showing off your abilities and make the dance interesting and something worthwhile to watch.

  • @megazinetom lol, you obviously know nothing about dancing then. fuck off, she was great.

  • @megazinetom your just jealous lol you probably couldn't do half the shit performed in this video... my fellow youtubers... this lady or man does not know what the hell they are talking about... and for one, some gymnastics is a form of dance, and another thing, i want you to tell me at what part in this video do you see gymnastics. i would very much appreciate it. With love for the video and disgust from this unintelligent being, Jonny. :)

  • @megazinetom You don't know a thang.

  • @megazinetom this was beautiful and the definition of contemporary! at competitions they mostly pay attention to the tricks:L

  • @megazinetom its called acro genius......

  • where were the turns?

  • IDC also stands for nice dance but I DONT CARE

  • When did pussy-showing become dance. ha ha

  • She has amazing control of her body and i wish i could do half the stuff that she was doing!

  • i swear comps are soo messed up. (im sorry if im offensive) how did THIS get a platinum?

  • @yaymeIamanut i agree. I have seen MUCH better dances - Brooke Hyland, Maddie Zeigler, And Chloe _____. (idk her last name at this moment.) Those girls are all from dance moms. So girls from dance moms have more experience, but they are really good.

  • @maddieo121 haha i watch that too! its lukasiak. you should look up megan branch, kali grinder, christina riccuci, beth ann robinson, and sarah pippin, too. there's soo many talented people here on youtube!

  • She's flexible O_O Good job on the dance!

  • I thought this was amazing! All of you saying this was boring or she's not flexible, I don't see what you mean! Great job!! <33

  • Kinda boring, Good jumps and leg extensions! But still sort of boring. Sorry.

  • @DelMad1995 agreed

  • To peacerox3652: I have also been dancing since I was 2 and I am now 13 and flexibility is a very big part of a great dancer. You need to be flexible to do a lot of things and it just makes it a lot easier. Flexibility will open many doors for a dancer and is a very big part of being a great dancer. Technique is also important but I believe that flexibility is equally important if you want to go far with dancing

  • I think the first turn u did u needed to finish but every thing else was beautiful -3

  • I've been dancing since I was 2 and u don't have to be flexible to be an amazing dancer it just depends of the dance u do if u do like tap or hip hop u don't have to be super flexible but for acro u probably do and flexibility isn't a major thing in dance it's technique flexibility is just another thing in dance

  • @peacerox3652 I believe that flexibility is a big part of a dancer. I'm not saying that you can't be good without flexibiblity but with flexibility you could be better. And technique is a big part of being a great dancer but I believe flexibiblity is equally important

  • Well wtf I cannot do this can you?

  • @DJnobachie barely ... :P

  • I'm 18 and started to teach myself basic dance moves a year ago. I was NOT flexible, and after a year I have just about got my left split, although my right leg needs a little more conditioning as it kind of moves away when I push down lol. I practice pirouettes and fouettes every day and I am improving bit by bit. I also practice strengthening my hips and am trying tilts against a wall. I wish my mum had let me dance when I was younger, as I put so much time and effort into it but because I st

  • watch out your shoulders and arms. they look careless, forthless and not in a good way

  • AMAZING needles and layouts....beautiful dance :) <3

  • Extremely talented ;)

  • Comment removed

  • you are beautiful

  • boring and slow

  • Oh my god. You are so good at dancing. That was beautiful and that last leg lift was perfect. You are amazing and I can see you going very very far in dance.

  • For all you ppl who are saying that she should have done this or shouldnt have done this, shut up. I have just started and I would be so happy to be as good as her. I would like to see all of you go up and dance like that and then tell me what she should and shouldnt have done. But until then, shut up.

  • ok no you do not have to be flexible for lyrical i auditioned for britains got talent doing lyrical and i didn't have much floor work or moves that I had to be extremely flexible i only had illusions and you don't have to be particularly flexible for those flexibilty is used more in contemporary for walkovers and back walkovers so whoever said u need flexibilty for lyrical u r quite obviosly very judgemental and don'yt know dance as well as you think you do

  • I always thought I was the only one who loved dance as much as I do. But I guess not. Today I realized dance was a part of me not just a-after-school activity - I don't care what anyone thinks of me, I LUV DANCE. This was beautiful, great job - keep dancing.

  • Hey read dont laugh at this! Just do it. Start thinking of something you really really want. Because this is astounding. • i am also a dancer but in every catagory you will still need flexibility even in hiphop

  • I loved this :D

  • She has a gorgeous arabesque.

  • LOL IDC = I Dont Care about International Dance Challenge.

  • This choreo was so boring. And awful. But the dancer haas some good natural ability. Pity.

  • the ONLY this that impressed me was the grand jete. the rest could have been done by a 10 year old. I know, i babysit one that dances better than that.

  • She is a great dancer but im not really a fan of the costume. but again she is a great dancer and felt that song! Great job

  • i can do splits so why can't i do what she did at 2:30 ??? plzz answer or give me tips or smth plzzzz

  • @blacklilo95 You need alot of leg muscle and balance. try sitting in your splits and bend back to try and grap your back foot. Don't push to hard...its not possible for everyone and you can pull a back muscle. also try putting your front foot on the ground and stick your back leg on a wall so your legs are flat in the splits up against the wall. Start out doing a pencil (the same thing except your hands on the ground), then slowly work your way up to ponche. Hope this helps :)

  • @ndlpup thank you soooooooo mucchhh i hope this helps :D:D

  • @blacklilo95 Its an arabesque... It takes lots of back strength. Practice against walls

  • @Slave2Music96 ohh okay thank you :D:D

  • @blacklilo95 You need quite a lot of leg muscle but also back flexibility. (:

  • @InsaneGeniousMoments well i have leg muscle but no back flexibility :( how to get my back felexibility improved????

  • @InsaneGeniousMoments I guess bridges and I don't know what it's called but when you lie on your stomach and touch your feet to your head and when you face into the middle of your room and put your leg backwards up the wall. xx (: -I think :L

  • i found my self kind of bored

  • Tht brought my eyes to tears tht was bueaiful

  • 2:30

    why can't i do that??

  • Wow 0.0

  • This is beautiful ! Her flexibility does look amazing ! But not all dancers have flexibility , but it does help with your movements , and makes the routines look cleaner .

  • She is soooooooo emotional!!!! She is soooo good

  • I'm starting dance next week and I can't decide between lyrical or jazz. Wich one do you think??

  • @AllyTucker786 i would choose jazz but u hve to be flexible

  • @AllyTucker786 i have been dancing for a long time, start off with jazz esspecialy if u are a new dancer because most places you have to be doing ballet a number of years to do lyrical.

  • @AllyTucker786 I say lyrical!! :) :) Definitely my favorite. So expressive and beautiful! But you really can't go wrong with either one.

  • @AllyTucker786 Well it totally has to be what you enjoy and what your personality is like. I would much rather do lyrical. I think it's very expressive and pretty. But if you have a different personality jazz might be what you enjoy. So this sounds silly but go into a room alone. And do a little of each alone. Even if you are new to it. And which ever you enjoy and speaks to you most that's the one you should do! :)

  • @AllyTucker786 I love lyrical...but choose what really makes you smile or gives you feelings...Jazz has many good qualities too but lyrical is also very emotional...I really cant help you because it is all in your opinion of dance do you like emotional dancing or different types of emotions in all...Hope this helps....

  • @AllyTucker786 lyrical!!

  • Let her hair out and give it more soul.

THEN it would far past amazing :D

  • omg i love this dance- she has so much emotion and there are barely any tricks- it's almost all choreography and that's why i really like this dance. shes really good. where did she place for this dance?

  • beautiful dance!

One Minute Dance is an online dance competition for all ages and abilities..

It is a competition but mainly it is here to boost dancer's confidence, and improve their choreographing, time management and dancing skills.

Visit the page to find out more! :)

  • okay First of all, I am a dancer. And I definitely do not believe that you MUST be flexible to be a lyrical dancer, and many sensible dance instructors would agree. You become a lyrical dance, a hiphop dance, a contemporary dancer, etc. the MOMENT you let it become a part of you. Anyone who put their heart and soul into dance is a dancer in my eyes. But As for performing/competing, I understand your opinions, It wouldve been best if she had more flexibility and control for her competition.

  • @iiijordann yeah i agree also. Im a dancer and one of my favorite forms of dance is lyrical. Flexibility is very important for lyrical and ballet but i think youre very right about how dancing comes from the heart and soul. When my group went to a competion in lyrical 2 years ago we got high silver, i feel like for competions you need to know exactly what you are doing and be flawless in order for a good score.

  • @iiijordann so i can be a hip hop dancer even though i'm not skinny at all?

  • @iiijordann All you say is correct, except that flexibility is a major part of all dance. To get to certain levels and learn new steps of a higher difficulty you must have that flexibility.

  • @7branmuffin I never said it wasnt a major part. My point is that flexibility doesnt define who you are as a dancer; its all in your passion. but of course I do know that flexibility is an incredible thing to have as a dancer.

  • this is so weird i saw this on the side while i was watching a random video love you jill <3 --- raylin

  • @cheerbeth2 I am a dancer and to answer your question, honestly for most lyrical dancing, yes you do. It all depends on the choreography.

  • do you have to be flexeble to do lyrical dance ??

  • @cheerbeth2 yes, a lyrical dance 'shows off' your flexibility and strength in a slow way. Ofcourse you also have to feel the song. But to answer your question, without flexibility you cannot perform a 'leap' (grand-jete) or a russian.. so it is important

    - Lyrical dancer

  • @msbutterflywings12 "without flexibility you cannot perform a 'leap'" This is false. You dont have to be flexible to perform these movements, although it definitely helps. As long as you keep correct form, knees straight, and feet pointed, it will still look good. Those who aren't as flexible sometimes try to kick higher or compensate by bending their knees or not stretching through their feet...that's when the lack of flexibility shows and that's when it looks bad. technique is key! :)

  • @cheerbeth2 in some cases yes there is this one girl in my lyrical dance class and she is not flexeble and she she is always messing up so i would say yes

  • @cheerbeth2 no, not necessarily, bu in my eyes, flexibility allows a wider range of movements for your body, and makes them look better, such as grande battements, grande jetes, "russians," and difinitely floorwork.

  • @balletgirl1929 Um ive been dancing since i was 3 and im not the most flexible person but i have flat russuins gettes and very high kicks. Its not how flexible you are its how much power you put into the movment.

  • @TheChattydanny Obviously, you're flexible enough to have flat russians and high kicks.

  • Great Control. She has an acroists body in my opinion. But she did very well in this. :D

  • She as AMAZING!!!! control!!!!! -3!!

  • Good dancer my bad

  • Your a dancer and i already agreed from 1:15 the video is not even over and im commenting your good nice balance this was very entertaining

  • Love emily crow watched load vids got to dance etc good for 11 year old whooo from scotland xxx

  • Pretty dancer. It was apparent though that, you tend to hold your hands really stiff, and stick your thumbs out. (i am a dancer too, so i understand there are just some weird habits that we have as dancers(: ) So just a tip, try and relax the hands, it wil give it a much more graceful feel. Pretty though.

  • Just a tip, black shorts with that beautiful costume was not so great, next time buy a leo that matches your top and wear it, as it's distracting, your dancing is AMAZING THOUGH, song choice is kinda iffy though

  • Wow! She is a beautiful dancer. You can really feel the emotion coming from her :) And congratulations for getting platinum :)

  • hate the song the dance is eh! good job tho! :)

  • she is really good but i dont really like the dance that much please dont take that the wrong way

  • Really pretty:)

  • Wow, you really know how to dance with feeling! WOW! <3

  • You are stunning! I can see the emotions not only on your face, but with every movement. Wonderful job, you are an amazing dancer!
