Very good dance and great technique but in my opinion there was a little too much floor work and I would have liked to see more pirouettes and fuetes and stuff like that

Didn't mean to upset anyone with my comment mrsDtrix123 said exactly what I intended in her comment: this shows that you can dance..... but you're not a dancer. this just shows that you can turn and you are flexable, anyone can learn how to do that, but it takes an artist with true passion to create the story and life in their dance. a dancer dances with their soul and with every fiber in their being, not like this. I do not refrain you from having your oppinion.
@megazinetom How is this gymnastics? She does not do ONE move that could even fit into an "acro" category. She really does not do one single thing that has to with gymnastics. Your comment, my fellow youtuber, is SHIT.
How the fuck is this gymnastics . If this was gymnastics on floor , they would be doing maybe cross tumbling , and less slow music , and I wouldn't call them tricks , I would call them skills . Skills you can learn. Gymnastics is less artistic in dancing , but it would be a very cool thing to learn, like bars , vault , beam , and floor . This is dancing , it just may be a bit boring to some people . Every one sees things differently . She just should've danced more as in moving the body around .
this shows that you can dance..... but you're not a dancer. this just shows that you can turn and you are flexable, anyone can learn how to do that, but it takes an artist with true passion to create the story and life in their dance. a dancer dances with their soul and with every fiber in their being, not like this.
I'm not saying it isn't impressive, it just has nothing to do with dancing and to me it is boring. And there is no "defenition" of dance BECAUSE it is an art form, you can't define something that is never finished, as Da Vinci once said: "Art is never finished".
(The hardest thing about true art is not being beautifull and technical but really moving people emotionally).
Leg lift at 2:18-2:32 was cool, but really girl, FEEL THE MUSIC!!!!!!! For lyrical you must connect one movement to the other and express ALL of your feelings. Either than that, you were pretty ok. ;)
Point your toes, straighten those long legs of yours, and you need to bring out the feel more. It was still very good and your a VERY talented dancer, but there are some technical issues that NEED to be fixed. But WOW!! When you held your leg up like that close to the end... that was amazing!!!!!!!!! I almost got chills. Ya, just put more emotion and you'll be good:)
@megazinetom, and that is exactly the difference between dancing for competition and dancing through your heart... not for points or a blue ribbon because you can't award highest expression - it's in a category of its own. Artwork can't truly be judged against others. Dance, music, and art is subjective to anyone who sees it.
it wasnt terrible... i just think there wasnt enough... she has amazing control and it looked good.. it just had a lot of parts where i feel like she just held the move before to stretch out the dance.
contemporary ahah you people make me laugh i bet your double jointed anyway + i am 13 and even ino what comtemporary is about so please go get some lesson you movements are ment too be fluent and what are you doing at 1:50 - 1:52 you look like you have fallen you dance is not that good and i not beeing nasty but one day if you think you are brill but then you go too the real world you will get smacked in the face so i dont mean too make you feel bad

have to agree with the most that your expressions are NOT good maybe a bit more focus and turns and jumps could be more involved but i liked your locomotion!
Omg..... this isn't dance, this is gymnastics. Contemporary dancing isn't about doing the most turns/jumps/tricks in a certain amount of time it is about letting you being moved by the music and with that comes expression of the music instead of just doing tricks and put a random track under it. This, if you look at it dance wise, my fellow youtubers, is SHIT.
@megazinetom I feel this way sometimes when watching these dances. It should look like the music is moving you. I'm not a dancer (sadly) but I get bored when it's all jumps/tricks.
@megazinetom Hmm, so she had two sout de chats, one calypso, and one interesting spinny thing (that I have no idea what to call) on the ground. And the turns were a couple of chaînés, pirouettes, and piqué turns. To be completely honest, if you are calling this gymnastics, then classical ballet must be gymnastics as well since most of those elements are done in multiples in many classical variations. Granted, there are other elements in these variations, but there are other elements here, too.
@megazinetom Also! You should look up your definition of "Contemporary Dance." Generally it is described by its more "abstract" qualities and its freedom from restrictions as to what a dancer can and cannot do (while classical ballet is quite rigid in that sense). Some of the best contemporary dances that I have seen have included some more acrobatic movements. Once again, it has to be paired with other components of dance, but these tricks can most definitely add a spicy edge to things! :)

@yaymeIamanut i agree. I have seen MUCH better dances - Brooke Hyland, Maddie Zeigler, And Chloe _____. (idk her last name at this moment.) Those girls are all from dance moms. So girls from dance moms have more experience, but they are really good.
@maddieo121 haha i watch that too! its lukasiak. you should look up megan branch, kali grinder, christina riccuci, beth ann robinson, and sarah pippin, too. there's soo many talented people here on youtube!
To peacerox3652: I have also been dancing since I was 2 and I am now 13 and flexibility is a very big part of a great dancer. You need to be flexible to do a lot of things and it just makes it a lot easier. Flexibility will open many doors for a dancer and is a very big part of being a great dancer. Technique is also important but I believe that flexibility is equally important if you want to go far with dancing
I've been dancing since I was 2 and u don't have to be flexible to be an amazing dancer it just depends of the dance u do if u do like tap or hip hop u don't have to be super flexible but for acro u probably do and flexibility isn't a major thing in dance it's technique flexibility is just another thing in dance
@peacerox3652 I believe that flexibility is a big part of a dancer. I'm not saying that you can't be good without flexibiblity but with flexibility you could be better. And technique is a big part of being a great dancer but I believe flexibiblity is equally important
I'm 18 and started to teach myself basic dance moves a year ago. I was NOT flexible, and after a year I have just about got my left split, although my right leg needs a little more conditioning as it kind of moves away when I push down lol. I practice pirouettes and fouettes every day and I am improving bit by bit. I also practice strengthening my hips and am trying tilts against a wall. I wish my mum had let me dance when I was younger, as I put so much time and effort into it but because I st
Wow, finally a contemporary dancer whose dance matches with the emotional tone of the music. My youtube search was beginning to make me think they didn't exist.
Oh my god. You are so good at dancing. That was beautiful and that last leg lift was perfect. You are amazing and I can see you going very very far in dance.
For all you ppl who are saying that she should have done this or shouldnt have done this, shut up. I have just started and I would be so happy to be as good as her. I would like to see all of you go up and dance like that and then tell me what she should and shouldnt have done. But until then, shut up.
ok no you do not have to be flexible for lyrical i auditioned for britains got talent doing lyrical and i didn't have much floor work or moves that I had to be extremely flexible i only had illusions and you don't have to be particularly flexible for those flexibilty is used more in contemporary for walkovers and back walkovers so whoever said u need flexibilty for lyrical u r quite obviosly very judgemental and don'yt know dance as well as you think you do
I always thought I was the only one who loved dance as much as I do. But I guess not. Today I realized dance was a part of me not just a-after-school activity - I don't care what anyone thinks of me, I LUV DANCE. This was beautiful, great job - keep dancing.

the ONLY this that impressed me was the grand jete. the rest could have been done by a 10 year old. I know, i babysit one that dances better than that.
@blacklilo95 You need alot of leg muscle and balance. try sitting in your splits and bend back to try and grap your back foot. Don't push to hard...its not possible for everyone and you can pull a back muscle. also try putting your front foot on the ground and stick your back leg on a wall so your legs are flat in the splits up against the wall. Start out doing a pencil (the same thing except your hands on the ground), then slowly work your way up to ponche. Hope this helps :)
@InsaneGeniousMoments I guess bridges and I don't know what it's called but when you lie on your stomach and touch your feet to your head and when you face into the middle of your room and put your leg backwards up the wall. xx (: -I think :L
This is beautiful ! Her flexibility does look amazing ! But not all dancers have flexibility , but it does help with your movements , and makes the routines look cleaner .
@AllyTucker786 i have been dancing for a long time, start off with jazz esspecialy if u are a new dancer because most places you have to be doing ballet a number of years to do lyrical.
@AllyTucker786 Well it totally has to be what you enjoy and what your personality is like. I would much rather do lyrical. I think it's very expressive and pretty. But if you have a different personality jazz might be what you enjoy. So this sounds silly but go into a room alone. And do a little of each alone. Even if you are new to it. And which ever you enjoy and speaks to you most that's the one you should do! :)
@AllyTucker786 I love lyrical...but choose what really makes you smile or gives you feelings...Jazz has many good qualities too but lyrical is also very emotional...I really cant help you because it is all in your opinion of dance do you like emotional dancing or different types of emotions in all...Hope this helps....
omg i love this dance- she has so much emotion and there are barely any tricks- it's almost all choreography and that's why i really like this dance. shes really good. where did she place for this dance?
okay First of all, I am a dancer. And I definitely do not believe that you MUST be flexible to be a lyrical dancer, and many sensible dance instructors would agree. You become a lyrical dance, a hiphop dance, a contemporary dancer, etc. the MOMENT you let it become a part of you. Anyone who put their heart and soul into dance is a dancer in my eyes. But As for performing/competing, I understand your opinions, It wouldve been best if she had more flexibility and control for her competition.
@iiijordann yeah i agree also. Im a dancer and one of my favorite forms of dance is lyrical. Flexibility is very important for lyrical and ballet but i think youre very right about how dancing comes from the heart and soul. When my group went to a competion in lyrical 2 years ago we got high silver, i feel like for competions you need to know exactly what you are doing and be flawless in order for a good score.
@iiijordann All you say is correct, except that flexibility is a major part of all dance. To get to certain levels and learn new steps of a higher difficulty you must have that flexibility.
@7branmuffin I never said it wasnt a major part. My point is that flexibility doesnt define who you are as a dancer; its all in your passion. but of course I do know that flexibility is an incredible thing to have as a dancer.
hi so i noticed u said u did competition dance.. can u please explain it to me? ive been thinking about getting involved too, but im very nervous! ive danced since i was 3 and i love to preform, but i go to Boston ballet, a professional ballet school , so i have mostly training in ballet. to do a competition do u have to go to a special school? also, can u please explain competitions to me in general? thank you!
@cheerbeth2 yes, a lyrical dance 'shows off' your flexibility and strength in a slow way. Ofcourse you also have to feel the song. But to answer your question, without flexibility you cannot perform a 'leap' (grand-jete) or a russian.. so it is important
@msbutterflywings12 "without flexibility you cannot perform a 'leap'" This is false. You dont have to be flexible to perform these movements, although it definitely helps. As long as you keep correct form, knees straight, and feet pointed, it will still look good. Those who aren't as flexible sometimes try to kick higher or compensate by bending their knees or not stretching through their feet...that's when the lack of flexibility shows and that's when it looks bad. technique is key! :)
@cheerbeth2 in some cases yes there is this one girl in my lyrical dance class and she is not flexeble and she she is always messing up so i would say yes
@cheerbeth2 no, not necessarily, bu in my eyes, flexibility allows a wider range of movements for your body, and makes them look better, such as grande battements, grande jetes, "russians," and difinitely floorwork.
@balletgirl1929 Um ive been dancing since i was 3 and im not the most flexible person but i have flat russuins gettes and very high kicks. Its not how flexible you are its how much power you put into the movment.
Pretty dancer. It was apparent though that, you tend to hold your hands really stiff, and stick your thumbs out. (i am a dancer too, so i understand there are just some weird habits that we have as dancers(: ) So just a tip, try and relax the hands, it wil give it a much more graceful feel. Pretty though.
Just a tip, black shorts with that beautiful costume was not so great, next time buy a leo that matches your top and wear it, as it's distracting, your dancing is AMAZING THOUGH, song choice is kinda iffy though
Very good dance and great technique but in my opinion there was a little too much floor work and I would have liked to see more pirouettes and fuetes and stuff like that

@yaymeIamanut i agree. I have seen MUCH better dances - Brooke Hyland, Maddie Zeigler, And Chloe _____. (idk her last name at this moment.) Those girls are all from dance moms. So girls from dance moms have more experience, but they are really good.

This was beautiful, great job - keep dancing.

i can do splits so why can't i do what she did at 2:30 ??? plzz answer or give me tips or smth plzzzz
blacklilo95 4 months ago
@blacklilo95 You need alot of leg muscle and balance. try sitting in your splits and bend back to try and grap your back foot. Don't push to hard...its not possible for everyone and you can pull a back muscle. also try putting your front foot on the ground and stick your back leg on a wall so your legs are flat in the splits up against the wall. Start out doing a pencil (the same thing except your hands on the ground), then slowly work your way up to ponche. Hope this helps :)

I'm starting dance next week and I can't decide between lyrical or jazz. Wich one do you think??
AllyTucker786 5 months ago
@AllyTucker786 i would choose jazz but u hve to be flexible
traydub25 5 months ago
@AllyTucker786 i have been dancing for a long time, start off with jazz esspecialy if u are a new dancer because most places you have to be doing ballet a number of years to do lyrical.
mrsbieberswag6 5 months ago
@AllyTucker786 I say lyrical!! :) :) Definitely my favorite. So expressive and beautiful! But you really can't go wrong with either one.
TheKlengel 5 months ago
@AllyTucker786 Well it totally has to be what you enjoy and what your personality is like. I would much rather do lyrical. I think it's very expressive and pretty. But if you have a different personality jazz might be what you enjoy. So this sounds silly but go into a room alone. And do a little of each alone. Even if you are new to it. And which ever you enjoy and speaks to you most that's the one you should do! :)
lunawater10 5 months ago
@AllyTucker786 I love lyrical...but choose what really makes you smile or gives you feelings...Jazz has many good qualities too but lyrical is also very emotional...I really cant help you because it is all in your opinion of dance do you like emotional dancing or different types of emotions in all...Hope this helps....

okay First of all, I am a dancer. But As for performing/competing, I understand your opinions, It wouldve been best if she had more flexibility and control for her competition.
iiijordann 6 months ago 163
@iiijordann yeah i agree also. Im a dancer and one of my favorite forms of dance is lyrical. Flexibility is very important for lyrical and ballet but i think youre very right about how dancing comes from the heart and soul. When my group went to a competion in lyrical 2 years ago we got high silver, i feel like for competions you need to know exactly what you are doing and be flawless in order for a good score.
NoahCyrus108 6 months ago
@iiijordann so i can be a hip hop dancer even though i'm not skinny at all?
msjoejonas12341 4 months ago
@iiijordann All you say is correct, except that flexibility is a major part of all dance. To get to certain levels and learn new steps of a higher difficulty you must have that flexibility.
7branmuffin 3 months ago
@7branmuffin I never said it wasnt a major part. My point is that flexibility doesnt define who you are as a dancer; its all in your passion. but of course I do know that flexibility is an incredible thing to have as a dancer.

@cheerbeth2 I am a dancer and to answer your question, honestly for most lyrical dancing, yes you do. It all depends on the choreography.

hi so i noticed u said u did competition dance.. can u please explain it to me? ive been thinking about getting involved too, but im very nervous! ive danced since i was 3 and i love to preform, but i go to Boston ballet, a professional ballet school , so i have mostly training in ballet. to do a competition do u have to go to a special school? also, can u please explain competitions to me in general? thank you!
toffeandcarmel 7 months ago
do you have to be flexeble to do lyrical dance ??
cheerbeth2 7 months ago
@cheerbeth2 yes, a lyrical dance 'shows off' your flexibility and strength in a slow way. Ofcourse you also have to feel the song. But to answer your question, without flexibility you cannot perform a 'leap' (grand-jete) or a russian.. so it is important
- Lyrical dancer
msbutterflywings12 7 months ago
@msbutterflywings12 "without flexibility you cannot perform a 'leap'" This is false. You dont have to be flexible to perform these movements, although it definitely helps. As long as you keep correct form, knees straight, and feet pointed, it will still look good. Those who aren't as flexible sometimes try to kick higher or compensate by bending their knees or not stretching through their feet...that's when the lack of flexibility shows and that's when it looks bad. technique is key! :)
sbsp77 3 months ago
@cheerbeth2 in some cases yes there is this one girl in my lyrical dance class and she is not flexeble and she she is always messing up so i would say yes
misscupcake48 6 months ago
@cheerbeth2 no, not necessarily, bu in my eyes, flexibility allows a wider range of movements for your body, and makes them look better, such as grande battements, grande jetes, "russians," and difinitely floorwork.
balletgirl1929 6 months ago 40
@balletgirl1929 Um ive been dancing since i was 3 and im not the most flexible person but i have flat russuins gettes and very high kicks. Its not how flexible you are its how much power you put into the movment.
TheChattydanny 3 months ago 23
@TheChattydanny Obviously, you're flexible enough to have flat russians and high kicks.
