I am not a firm believer in UFOs or in HAARP effects, but I think it may have been one of those or something related to space. The birds wouldn't be flying low in the sky unless there were something above them preventing them from flying higher.

Fireworks as a possible explanation is absolute crap and an insult to intelligent people. Fireworks are let off all over the world on a much larger scale than anything Arkansas has seen and birds don't suddenly drop dead outta the sky. I'm going with the Methane Gas explanation. Could it be a cloud of toxic gas? I've read about an "accident" where an airforce plane that had aerial spraying equipment, and was carrying phosgene chemical warfare gas "malfuncitoned," releasing the gas twice on two consecutive days. The way the radar image gets bright then dissipates could be consistent with gas dispersion? Also, it's been said that the phosgene gas was being disposed of by pumping it into underground wells.
