I absolutely adore this game. Fantastic review! Where did you find the orchestra quality Fate of Atlantis music BTW? I've been looking and can't seem to turn it up.
That was superb, ive bought the game off of steam and id never seen indiana jones any of them, apart from the fourth one until after i played this game, and i gotta say, they are all superb, 4 is okay, its an okay film, not a good indiana jones though, felt too camp and cheesy in places for me. but that review was easily one of my favourite reviews of anything, heartfelt and informative, well done, that was superb
Lolz. I played this game in 5.25inch diskettes. There was no voice of course not. This game was time consuming back then since I had no source of walkthrough at all. I still managed to beat this great game. Such an awesome game. Too bad today's generation will miss it.
Argh. After watching the demo on display at an Electronic Boutique back in the early 1990s I vowed to one day play this game. Several years later I finally got a computer and spent much time playing other old desired games including Myst, Zork Nemesis and Drowned God; however, Fate of Atlantis got buried in a large pile of other point and clicks, never played and forgotten. I feel stupid. Now Ive gotta go on a treasure hunt and see if I still have it. Thanks, TheFinalHighlander :)
Your final words really touched me! I've had the same life changing experience with Grim Fandango and Mexican mythology. This was a great review and it's a wonderful coincidence to stumble upon it today, the day that I started replaying Indy 4!
Peace to all the leather jacket salesmen out there...
i was waiting for this game to become a movie =[..a perfect game and awesome review. I love the score for the game especially the last bit in this video. Damn george lucas and his alien ideas! The last part of Kingdom of Crystal skull almost reminded me of the ending to Atlantis though. Memories =/
Quite simply, the best review of any game on You Tube. I would actually call it a 'documentary' - that's how good it is! If I could give it 10/5 I would! Excellent, excellent, excellent!!!
Can someone get this in front of LucasArts, Hal Bartwood, or those damn guys over at Amberfish Arts? How anyone can see this and not be compelled to be a part of it again is beyond me. I hope those fangames finish up before this decade is out. Anyone have any news on them?
Your are the man ! Thanks for the memories bud, this review and game footage was a great reminder of a great era in gaming.
Now all we get is shoot em ups.
Sadly this Indiana Jones game passed me by for some wired reason, I am surprised I didn't know about it until now.
Monkey Island introduced me to the great point & click genre and from there I discovered the amazing Broken Sword & Broken Sword 2 on PSone and Broken Sword 3 on The PS2.
I was hoping to be an "Indy-type" historian but then found out I was in the wrong department. Historians sit in archives not adventure out into the wilds of Peru. dammit.
You know its been kind of nagging at me that I didn't use that as the example from Raiders and now your comment has turned it from a nag into an annoyance. I should have used it :( Still, I've still got all the files I used to make the video so I'll edit it in so its in the final version :) Thanks.
Not a big fan of the point & click games. I prefer something like Little Big Adventure, where you've got more direct control over your character, but an excellent review, as always.
Quoted for truth what you said at the ending about the IJ4 movie. I never understood why they did not make a movie based on that game as the 4th IJ film.
Another great review David. I am trying to track this game down on torrents and the internet but I am having no luck. I really want to play it. I love Grim Fandango, another great Lucas Arts point and click game. Anyway keep up the good work.
Yes the game does have its share of light hearted puzzle moments (as do the movies of course). One of my best gaming experiences was from the wits path - getting the crazy idea that Indy could just maybe fire himself from the sub's torpedo tube and - lo and behold, the crazy plan worked out!
Overall wits was my fav. Most intricate puzzles, monte carlo chase scene and coolest entrance to the lost city.
Strange how Lucasarts The Dig had many similarities to this.
Fantastic in-depth review of what seems to be indeed one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, point-'n-click adventure of all time. I really want to play this now. The good old P&C is probably the genre that gives me the most nostalgic feelings, seeing how those were pretty much the only ones I could run on my old Pentium 100 back in the day :)
My feeling on Crystal Skull is basically that it's shit, so that says it all :p It's a CGI fest.
Lol, absolutely greatest find. And I thought "It looks like a chest or an ark ... I've seen that before" and "Surely this is NOT the cup of a carpenter" are the best easter eggs they have there.
This was an absolute pleasure to watch :) This was so well done and really inspired me to want to play this game. I've always been a fan of Indy which is what made this review of yours special to me in its own way. The indy film I have yet to watch! I wonder if you can still find this somewhere to buy? No matter, I shall steal yours! :P
This and Ultima WoA Martian Dreams were my favourite games of my adolescence. It's a shame I don't still have either of them. I bet it's hard to find these old games in good condition in their original boxes. Do you play Indy using DOSbox? I find the emulator sometimes doesn't work with some old DOS games.
I use a program called ScummVM which is designed to run these old point and click adventures and works perfectly. It doesn't just run the Lucasarts ones either, even slightly more obscure games like Flight of the Amazon Queen run on it.

Worthy of TV. Seriously! 5/5 is just too low a score for these two excellent documentary video's!

The one thing that puts me off playing the Wits Path is wandering around Monte Carlo looking down drains. Aside from that it's great.
