Everyone says take 1 day down south Kaibab and two days up Bright Angel and stay over night half way up at Indian Gardens. From what it looks like you guys did, it is totally possible to go up Bright Angel in one day.
Great footage guys1!! I have made this trek more than a few times and remember all too well the feeling of accomplishment when finishing. I must say you guys had your wind much better than I did each time I finished. I am planning another trek with my girlfriend soon and found your video because of that. Thanks so much for your video and respecting the canyon.
I made it down to the 3rd rest stop and back last month... wow, it was pretty rough as I am a very, very novice hiker. It poured rain on the way back up and I packed enough food to feed a squad but at least I knew I was taken care of and helped out several people on the way. It's a fantastic hike but I suggest going down to the 2nd rest stop, not the 3rd if you're a novice like me.
Hi guys, question for you... Do you think staying at the International GC hostel in Flagstaff and then driving to GC(on the morning before hike) is a good idea? I think 1.5 hour of drive is not a big deal before going down? Any suggestions/recommendations?
@nardeepj It's recommended to go down the trails either really early in the morning or later in the evening. This way you aren't hiking when the sun is beating down on you. We got there in the morning, hung out, checked out the views from the top, ate and started to make our way down around 5-530.
Hiked Bright Angel Trail Aug. 5, 2010, A Vision Quest, Dad, 2 bros. and I flew up GC from Lake Mead to Page AZ. in 1970. Floated down Colorado back to Lake Mead. I was 13 y/o. Had to hike from the top to bottom to complete Trifecta. I am a carreer firefighter in real good shape and it kicked my A$#. Left the trailhead at 0930 and didnt get back up until 2200. I am 53 y/o, and I dont know if I would try it again, there were times that I thought that I would die. If you do try this hike, take a

I hiked down to the mesa point. Been on mules many times. Grand View Trail is the most difficult.

@Grayshack I just hiked from Phantom Ranch to the North Rim and back in just over 13 hours. Not too bad ... just long. (28 miles)

Doesn't Bright Angel trail actually start at 2,500 feet and top out at 6,850 feet at the south rim?
