"This guy" is not Blue Peter, "this guy" is the lead singer from Blue Peter. His name is Paul Humphrey. I own all their stuff on vinyl and saw them several times including when they kicked ass opening for The Jam at The Concert Hall in 1981. They were awesome. They were on tour recently with Humphrey and guitarist Chris Wardman. Check out the shows on YouTube for "This Ain't Hollywood" in Hamilton, ON. Radio Silence. Over and out. ;-)
thats my brother's wife's cousin..so you bastards better behave..Peter is cool as hell..he's settled down now.. yes he still lives in the great white north..town outside of YYZ...
@Piggreenbag I saw him in the mid 80's in YAM. He was the opening act for Corey Hart (if I remember correctly). His set was so much better than the headliner.
I remember seeing this on TORONTO ROCKS for the first time in 1983. I also remember buying it on 45 and dancing to it in highschool. Every guy felt that first highschool crush and the heartbreak when "that girl" walked by and didn't even notice you in the hallway.
@dj6927 I grew up in the 80's as well. A time of discovery, heartbreak, good music, hanging out. Things money cannot buy that made us what we are. Thanks for replying.
CFNY was the the best. Humble Howard, Fred Patterson, Alan Cross with the history of Modern Rock and Maie Pauts with the nooner. I wish I could live those days again.
Am I smoking something or was Shellshocked used as a promo for football games in the early 80s? No hint anywhere on the web. Like the song never existed.
@cousinmodo The Humphrey brothers went to my old high school in Scarborough, L'Amoreaux C.I. Same high school that was featured in and had video footage shot from the 'Subdivisions' music video from Rush in the fall of 82' (I was in a couple of scenes in that video)
for the older folks in the Maritimes (Canada), remember C100's countdown on ATV (I think) back in the 80s? This was always a regular back around 1983/84.
Played at my high school in Grimsby. Someone smashed their bronco's windows out during the concert. I felt terrible for them.Another Great Canadian band. Might have gone farther if they were in the US at the time.
By the way, I saw Blue Peter live twice. Once in the fall of 1982 when they opened for Simple Minds at Massey Hall in Toronto, Ontario, the other in 1984 in Hamilton, Ontario when they played at a club. They kicked butt live. At the show in 1984, Paul Humphrey saw me singing along with one of the songs and appeared very moved by that.
Some cool dance moves starting at the 3:00 minute mark. And I'm talking about Paul Humphrey, not the guy who had himself superimposed into the video. ;-)
That was the VJ. He was talking to Humphrey before the video aired, including about the cool dance move. Guess the VJ chose to give it a shot himself...
I just watched your list. I forgot what I lived through! It's like the last 6 days before I just put the garbage can out yesterday. It's also like not remembering a name. I know there was tons of music I liked in the 1980's, but who knows which songs they were. Maybe I should go through the 500 vinyl albums (which are for sale) in my storage room and make a list. Or I could just watch Family Guy. That Stewie ha ha ha
I could well be wrong , but I know I saw them 4 times over 2+ years and I think 2 of them were at the the school. I had friends at university in Waterloo, Hamilton and Trent and saw various concerts all the place, so who knows?

A brilliant 80s anthem. They distilled a lot of what was in the air: aggressive drums, ethereal backing vocals, metallic & disinterested lead vocals, jangle and discordance... the dancing from 3:00 to 3:20 says it all: it is arhythmic, all about posing and looking downbeat, with the narrow trim clothes etc. A great companion to OMD's "If You Leave," the Spoon's "Nova Heart," XTC's "Making Plans for Nigel," and anything by Squeeze.
Hi, no one ever needs to feel badly about this man's prospects, past or present. His new music is amazing. He is a very talented artist and a really cool guy as well. I'm glad that he is doing so well for himself.
I used to see these guys at a club called the Edge a very long time ago and they were great! The singer is a really great performer and guitarist was pretty cool too. Unforgetable.
"This guy" is not Blue Peter, "this guy" is the lead singer from Blue Peter. His name is Paul Humphrey. I own all their stuff on vinyl and saw them several times including when they kicked ass opening for The Jam at The Concert Hall in 1981. They were awesome.

5 Stars! I also love "Unchained Heart" by Blue Peter. Brings back those CFNY 102.1 FM days. Thanks for the post.

He had such a charmismatic look about him that he could have very well took on a James Bond role easily! I still think he does now!
