  • Don't let dumb people talk to Kode9

  • very interesting interview!

  • this just made me happy about everything i do! so happy i watched this!!

  • him and burial look pretty alike eh?

  • "That anything goes mentality" and DIY attitude applies to all styles of music, yes, even people who have talent. Where do you think the best riffs came from? The musicians bible?

  • koed 9 is my hero, I would like to see him dj sometime.

  • where are you from? i've seen him a few times he's really good.

he often plays at FWD>> which is on every sunday.

  • @theartfulbadger1 i swear fwd at plastic people is on thursdays

  • @djredi2step When I wrote that comment, FWD was on Sundays. It then went on hiatus for a while and came back every other Thursday, but it's been a bit irregular.

And having seen Kode9 play out since then, I can safely say he's one of the best DJs I've ever seen.

  • @theartfulbadger1 i know he is he's up therre with shackleton pinch ramadanman and appleblim

  • his voice almost matches the vocals on the album version for "9 Samurai"....

is it his voice in the recording?

  • no, its Spaceape. thats the MC he works with most of the time.

  • ahh i thought they were both producers

  • yeah, spaceape works as producer from time to time, but always with kode 9, so that's why he's never mentioned as producer

  • @redswitch23 You should check out his stuff with Martyn (y)

  • spaceape does the vocals on nearly all kode9's tunes

  • His voice is nothing like that song. It's Spaceape who raps. It's dread poetry.

  • At the beginning? Yeah I think it is.

  • How awkward was their conversation

  • you know?

  • its funny cuz without muscians you dont have those samples....

working with muscians will only expand your poduction.. This guy is wierd..

  • no no no..

he's saying, he doesnt have the patience or the mastery to fiddle abot with making music.

with a sample he can get what he wants, when he wants, in its original, beautiful sound.

where as with a live instrument, you get really crisp, dull music.

its like a compression envelope on bass..

  • I totally understand him around 5:50, the dark stuff, like his samplings when he warps them and stuff, reminds me of 9 samurai...

  • She sounds like a 15 year old.

    Good perspective from Kode9, though.

  • Yeah but she's hot.
