it's not that cats are more dangerous, it's because there are so many of them.

people used to keep a small bell on their cats if they went outside to prevent uneccessary predation on birds and other critters.....

you may find this interesting: lookup "bird predation on wildlife" and see what comes up.....the statistics are alarming. wildlife has a hard enough time on its own without us putting more pressure on it. you're cat is just being instinctual, but you can help control it.

Since the ecosystem is already out of balance due to this, the introduction of cats helps even this out. They are one of a few urban predators that are actually allowed to generally wonder about without being shot or killed indiscriminately.

Squirrels multiply with no problem and are not even in the slightest "decimated" due to cats. They are just like any other on their level of the food chain and need predators to keep them in check.
