What made Glen Jacobs (Kane) change his body shape would be bicep, knee, and back injuries coupled with age.

Glen Jacobs had breathing problems in the full-faced masks (they sucked up oxygen from his face), so he changed masks from a full-faced one to a half-faced one in 2002. But then, he had trouble seeing in the half-mask, so for that and character redesign (he wanted the Kane character to be expressed without the mask), he unmasked completely in 2003. He was going bald, so he shaved his hair & made it into the wig attached to the half-mask. He then shaved his gotee to complete the new look.

Though, his unmasked run would have worked perfectly if they didn't entirely tone down the character with Undertaker's return, rather than straight up frightened of 'Taker, he should have grown more violent BECAUSE 'Taker was returning and he didn't believe, much like the "May 19th" Affair.

It was a poor attempt to revive the Kane of old (Luke Gallows/Festus [real name of Drew Hankinson]) did a piss-poor job during his first appearance on RAW and though he got to the point where he resembled Glen's original look, the storyline fell flat, since it was stupid in my opinion to make the real Kane lose to a faux imposter, since his "brother" did the same in 1994, but vanquished his fake counterpart.

Finally, Glen was always Kane (masked or not) from 1997 to now. Drew Hankinson--Luke Gallows--played the IMPOSTER Kane in 2006, however.
