He sounds so much like Marga Hoffgen, he's a perfect male alto, he doesn't even sounds as a countertenor, his voice is so glorious and powerful.

A perfect male alto doesn't sound like a perfect female contralto. His and Marga Hoeffgen's voices are quite different. Her voice is deeper and has a different colour. In my opinion Kowalski's version is much better!

Some parts he does sounds like her.
Her voice has a pretty darker colour, but I think Marga added much more emotion to this version than him.

In some parts any singer can sound like somebody else. Still I think that it's more appropriate to compare one male alto with another or with a falsettist. I don't think that it's such a compliment. Though tastes differ. I hear more emotion in Kowalski's version.
