Get a Behringer SRC2496 (Ultramatch PRO) pure budget. it doesn't have super-Q-DAC's built in but *very* usable for a home/small & even pro studio; as long as you don't use it at exactly 0db. Put it 3db lower and there is absolutely no noise to be intercepted at all at mixdown / mastering level. I've checked it with a spectrum analyzer+oscillos and the SN ratio is stable.
has XLR optical & toslink digital in/outs & lots of functions. 96khz flips the units sometimes but the mv8800 is only 44khz
You can take your audio tracks and copy to clipboard the copy to midi patch. You can then chop your guitar parts up and fire them off as phrases. Or just chop up the audio phrase which will automatically send it to a patch. Just makes sure your release is set correctly or your parts will decay quickly. If you don't understand then email me the guitar wave and I'll do a video.
this might be a funny question but you know your stuff. i record alot of raw wave eg guitar on the analog tracks i use up the four available tracks pretty fast. my question is...is there a way to take my raw wave track turn it to a midi sample and just trigger it on a midi track so it can free up my analog tracks i hope this makes sence to you. thanks for your help. ps i tried playing guitar to the sampler section but there isnt the click and cant play along with your tune thanks again
Is that Neo 2488 good enough to record hip hop vocals professionally? I prefer to record in a multitrack recorder because I hate dealing with latency issues that computers are known for. Is there any information you could speak about your experience with your 2488, and some of the most useful ways one could go about recording great sounding songs? For instance, what kind of mic pre, compressor, limiter, noise gate, mic works best using the Neo, and can one finish an entire song using the Neo?
@CHUCKSAWPRODUCTIONS There is a tool available for any budget. The more quality you want; the more you pay for it. Still; there are a few good items on the market & even through second hand. Best is to get a mag like Futuremusic/Recording (dunno which area you live) and check the "hot" gearlist. For as far as I can remember; AKG Perception microphones are VERY good & available for any price/type. I think a VS-2000 might be a better deal with its built-in & versatile Mastering Toolkit vs quality.
I'm sure the ultralite mk3 has digital connections. A digital connection can either be a coaxial cable or a cable that looks like a single RCA cable but carries left and right channels. The MV has both types going out.
@WaxDat8800 good looks fam, went and got some cables today. Tracked 4 instruments into Logic with ease, wish I had been on this yrs ago. Was thinkin of getting NI maschine just so I didnt have to track into Logic but fuck it for now, this method should hold me over for a good min
dumb question but what do digital out put cords look like? If i'm tracking into Logic Express 8 wit a motu UltraLite-mk3, can I use the same technique? I dont have a mixer, I mix all in the box. I've had the MV for 3yrs now and I've just gotten into trackin to Logic lol. Still a newbie when it comes to that.
Great tut WaxDat, I've had mine sitting here for five months and have not used it yet, cause I still haven't got a mixer yet! Thinking about the Heath & Allen ZED R16. Got any impressions on the R16?

I used a Canon HF 200 and Sony Vegas to convert. I should have used a tripod though.

oh shit I forgot to ask, what do you use to film this? much better quality than my videos -- same shaky-cam though ;)

you should do a companion video for this -- how to make you samples mono, so you can use this method.

From a look at the specs the Heath and Allen looks tight! Heath and Allen makes very good quality gear.
