This isn't art. I can throw paint cans at a wall then rip out the sheet rock and sell it for millions of dollars. Just because it is unlike anything you've heard before doesn't mean it isn't just noise.
all you haters out there, you don't get it. Meredith has the voice, the experience and the vision to continue to make great art, great music. Sorry for you that you don't get it yet?
The John Cage Syndrome=overrationalized -overly conceptual but doesn't hold up-lacks timelessness-shallow lyrics with fixation on solidifying self. Lack of awareness of musicality deluding soul-less novelty addicts.
haha i adore you! it seems as if you just can't stand that music has changed. who are you to define shallow lyrics. it is a matter of times. many of modern people would find opera's lyrics shallow because they talk about something unfamiliar to our time. i adore how you diss cage whom you do not understand. he can't be compared to mozart or bach, not even with chopin or satie. modern times, modern technologies, it is to respect the past and to move into the future. you fucking snob.
Thank you very much for this little video ,a delicious part of the wonderful performances of her incredible voice that I had the luck to admire in my town's theatre
A form of expression, yes. But music? Everyone with a loud and thunderous NO! If you enjoyed that fine. If you thinks its genious, you probably fall into a category of thinking like other people that wish they had great minds and worship irrelevent philosiphers and drink fancy ass coffee.
What exactly would we achieve by excluding this from the definition of music?
And what hidden criteria are your you using?
Simply excluding something on grounds of taste, is, as I'm sure you're aware, ludicrous.
As for genius, well the proof is in the numbers, it seems. If Monk's music propagates the evolution of art, whilst typifying it's moment in time, then it meets the criteria of what we often call genius. But who can be the judge of that? It's simply a matter of time, I'd say.
As someone who appreciates fine music, its sad that you would make such a negative statement. If you don't like it, fine, I genuinely respect that. There's music that I'm not a fan of, but there are people that really appreciate it, people that it really speaks to. This could speak to someone, maybe not you, and as I said I respect that, truly. Just don't go insulting another artist just because it isn't something you're used to.
From one lover of music to another, lets embrace the differenc

Pile concepts on concepts to defend your neurosis.
The sh-tpile of concepts that you eat from academic conditioning.
Indoctrinated by those who lack wisdom-
Lost in the bland misleading the bland.
Lost in yr ego -conditioned by delusions -you defend
backward concepts wallowing in Cage's nihilism
and lack of understanding-Many witnessed Cage's unkindness to others. He was a know-nothing
who was lost in ignorance & arrogance.
Cage is no Satie!
Over-romanticize the deluded -it's your wasted time.

@MsLalawilks Pity the lost victims of conceptual fake musicians.
Mislead by frauds who suffer from delusions of grandeur.
They stew in their own juices & delusions from bland bores
I've seen too many of these types end up alone, insecure
& uptight -defending talentless concept pseudo-musicians It's sooo sad. they can't even relax into the open spaciousness
of the resonant beauty of Satie - & those whose talent endures.
