Wow. This video brings back the mind-bending opposition to the Anti-War Movement from the Right that has been easy to forget. Here's what I need to remember: Those of us of draft age who opposed the war were not Commies; we were cannon fodder. Men like Westmoreland and Kissinger and Nixon were more than willing to feed us to the War if only to postpone the day when they had to admit defeat.
@oldhippiefromthe60s I agree, only a stupid goverment thinks terrorism is the real threat, and send young american christians to die and support NEW islamic goverments
Ronald Reagan was a great man indeed! A++ The hippies and the freaks were absolutely worthless. The hippies and the freaks did not do a dam thing for America! The hippies and the freaks cost the taxpayers millions of dollars do to the willful and malicious destruction and defacement of public and private property that the hippies and the freaks were responsible for. in addition, millions of dollars were spent on police to protect public and private property from the hippies and freaks!
It was a war that gave you the freedom to protest these wars. It was a war, that gave us this great nation. It was a war, that kept this nation safe. I am for avoiding war if you can, but wars are still neccesary, as a last option. I rather start a war to keep my countries freedom, than to peacefully give them away. Which means you can't protest a war, since your freedom is now gone. Logic, something the hippies lacked.
@SonOfMrGreengenes It is an option that should be used as a last resort. Its terrible, but sometimes neccsary. A war is what gave you the freedom to even speak of your opinon without punishment. In Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia, they take you away and kill you for those comments. Again war is a necessary evil from time to time.
@Delta060594 Unfortunately we have all been indoctrinated to defend war as you just have. After a lifetime of indoctrination we become the "self appointed defenders of the status quo". We are born with all freedoms including freedom to speak. It is not granted to us by the authority of a government entity. Remember there is no "they" out there. The truth is that that it is only "us" for we are in this together. Unfortunately, for future generations, it will get far worse before it gets better.
@SonOfMrGreengenes I think I see what your saying. The U.S. is some what of a police force now. There are some cases where I think we should of stayed out of it. (The Lebanon War in the 50s is one of those moments.) I know we are born with them, but you must be willing to fight to protect them, our government is supposed to help protect those rights, some times wars do that. look at World War 2.
@burjitsu the gooks did in a way but youve got to honour the bravery of the men who where forced to fight. im not a hippie., but war is a terrible, terrible thing.
@armaholic99 Dont say the gooks you ignorant ass...the north vietnamese where the bad guys and the south viets were good guys....you sound like a hippy to me you little fuck.
@50poiuyt THIS MR.50POIUYT IS CRIMINAL WAR 'KHMER ROUGE' - CRIMINAL WAR IN CAMBOJA AND VIETNAM - FUCK 50POIUYT - SAT CONG - FREEDOM VIETNAM - DEMOCRACY FOR VIETNAM - HO CHI MIM, POL POT AND 50POIUYT IS NAZIS. NAPALM FOR VIETCONGS - AGENTE ORANGE FOR COMMUNISTS - SAT CONG, DANGER 50POIUYT, FBI TO KILL.
@burjitsu They weren't. We were doing fine, but the media didn't think so. so we left withouth finnishing what we started. Of course I don't expect you to understand. You just believe the liber media bull shit. So I am not even going to try argue with you. You lack logic. Which is necessary in an argument.
AMERICA LOST VIETNAM WAR BECAUSE OF ITS BIASED MEDIA!!!
Since anti-war, pro-communist American media always focused on U.S. troop and Vietnamese civilian casualties, and ignored North Vietnam and Vietcong's casualties as well as their atrocities against its own people as in the case of Hue's massacre of 5000 civilians in 1968 to mislead Americans to become against Vietnam war.
If America had not started the war, South Vietnam would have fallen into communism in 1954 and more Vietnamese would have been murdered in cultural revolutions like those launched by Mao in China (20 million deaths) & Khmer Rouge in Cambodia (2 millions)
Total Vietnamese democide by communists: 1,040,000 (1975-87) by HCR.
Ho chi Minh, Vietnam's communist leader, is a disguting TRAITOR & MURDERER! In exchange for chinese military aids in the war with France (1945-1954), he gave up Paracel & Spratly archipelagos with large oil resources to China. He even ordered to murder his own mistress named Nong thi Xuan when she threatened to disclose her sexual relationship with him since that would destroy his image as a "Father" of Vietnam who "sacrifices" his whole life for Vietnam revolution.
I did not want to got to Viet Nam and leave my family and die in a far off land. I was 19 and afraid and remember taking off for Nam from Travis AFB Calif and the lump in my stomach that this may be the last time I see America again. Arnold Swartznegger was probably just land in the US and starting his movie career and people were laughing and having fun back home. I went because it was the law and no other reason. Yes, and i am so happy that i did and did not cut and run.
@delta2901 Im glad you made it home. Thanks for serving your fellow countrymen. Not your fault both our Governments (Aussie and US were pulling the wool over our eyes in order to not lose face.
@delta2901 I know how u feel i fucking lost a friend there i found him whith no arms and no legs and from that day on i killed as many as thoes damn gooks as i could and iam glad of it so thoes fucking protesters and hippies that make fun of the war can take there picket signs and songs that make soilders look bad and made fun of and shove it stright up there ASS
@attackedzack44: I've known lots of people that were in Vietnam and you know what? Most, if not all say they regret having aimed a gun at the NVietnamese people. It's not in the Constitution to nation build, if the people of Vietnam want a communist gov't., let 'em have it.
@attackedzack44 It was never about making soldiers look bad, it was about getting US out of the Nam so more of our citizens would stop dying in a conflict (Congress never declared it a war) where we shouldn't have been. Had the war mongers listened to its people sooner, your friend never would have lost his arms and legs.
@RonCheneler I don't really care about this politicaly correct nonsense. To the soldiers, a war is when to countries want to resolve their conflicts with violence. So yeah it was a war. (doesn't matter what congress wants to call it). I am not some war junkie, I think war should be avoided when possible. But wars are necessary from time to time. In fact, it was the war of independence that helped secure your freedoms, including the freedom to publicly criticize your own governments action. Logic
@attackedzack44 My grandad died to not just defend my rights, but also to die to defend the rights of others. He was honnored with this, hippies and protestors. I wish I could of have met him. I feel so out of place knowing that my generation, ( Generation Y: 1994+) are so liberal and think the war was a loss because of our troops. But in fact we were force to leave by the media, leaving the job unfinished. I am sorry for your loss. I thank you and your friend for fighting to defend my rights.
The military-industrial complex uses the same old lies with every new generation. The difference now is that the new generations are wise to their tricks.
@FindlaySucks The new generation may be wise to the military-industrial complex but tey're still going to Asia and dying for nothing. George Dubbya is gone. Isn't it time we stop the war he started to finish what his daddy started?
@FindlaySucks No they aren't. I'd like to think so, but we're still in a war. And we have a docile population. Enough people still join the service, despite the obvious bullshit of where you go and what you do. People that desert or go AWOL have more guts than the ones who stay in during wars like ours now.
@cochranexyz Wars are neccesary, but they should be a last option, if you can defeat a country without having to fire a shot, thats great. President Regan did it, but he also knew when wars were neccessary. No war is pretty, its war. My Grandad fought in vietnam, he was over there trying to protect others freedoms he died trying. And he was honnored with this. Scum critizing that we were evil people. We were winning that war, the media potrayed it in a wrong way. I am ashamed of those hippies.
@cochranexyz The only lie that i believed in, was the support of our own nation for the troops out there defending the rights of others. Thats the only lie i fell for. Would you rather have your freedoms taken away peacefully, or keep them by engaging in and winning a war? Answer the question please. I want to see your response.
@Delta060594 Defending the rights of others.... This country willingly ignores all sorts of that in other nations, but if there is an excuse needed will bring it in if we need to get involved. I would argue that supporting the war and ignorance of the populace are one in the same. Blind allegiance. The powers that be thank you for that.
I remember first hearing the word Atrocity at this time. There were atrocities at Santa Rita. I had to look it up in the dictionary.
War is atrocity,
Atrocity War.
Col. Wayne Goodson
He wanted to be remembered for that and often put it as a postscript in private correspondence.
