  • Nice cartoon drawing...One thing that gets me, is, how come a lot of folks assume that using a tablet will make you a better artist ? This statement isnt directed to anyone who's posted to this video but seriously? Get the program, learn the program, and THEN post videos of YOUR work.

  • What tablet are you using?:)

  • @Voiduh I have a Cintiq 21UX but for this kind of work I use the mouse.

  • I have Photoshop CS2, it's very old. Can I still do like you?

  • @Yotawit Of course, you can do it even with Photoshop 6.

  • Secret tip ))))))) Amazing characters!

  • great design

  • you know you could have just increased the darkness of background layer....

  • @imranbug81 ...

  • i have an intuos 4 and is impossible for me make such long lines so straight...obviously i think you r using a wacom cintuiq right?

  • @cavalars Right!

  • @00SOSNewbie00

is it worth getting a bigger tablet? i'm getting bamboo and I can't decide between medium and small.

  • @TheKanonHara I don't think so, actually smaller tablets are more comfortable in my opinion. I would spend money on a A6 Intuos.

  • @TheKanonHara In my opinion smaller tablets are more comfortable. I would spend money on a A6 Intuos, much more pressure sensitivity.

  • Hmm. What's the purpose of using white to "erase"?

  • @KidHaru It's just that I find easier switching from black brush to white brush than from brush to eraser. Just a personal preference.

  • @00SOSNewbie00 I actually did some cleaning using this method last night and it came out great. It actually does feel better using the white. Thanks a lot!

  • Fuck you 00SOSNewbie00, just FUCK YOU :(

  • Great tips. I'm going to try to use them. It's always nice to see how others do their work.

  • Every time i use a big canvas (like 5k x5k) the lines look all chopped up and disgusting... can you help?

  • @sjham16 Check the Cheeky Monkey playlist in my channel, in the first video I give some tips to improve your lineart.

  • @00SOSNewbie00 Ops... this is the video I was talking about... sorry I can't give you more tips, if you are doing all that I guess it's just a matter of practice.

  • Y U SO PRO? :D

  • You should just use Illustrator or the pen tool. Wouldn't you get perfect vector lines like that? Then group them all together, pathfinder merge, and bam?

  • @LONGSHOTfilmes After 8 years doing digital inking this is by far the easier and less time consuming way... just personal preference.

  • @00SOSNewbie00 Really? Well, It's very impressive, especially for photoshop and a tablet. Kudos to you sir =)

  • @00SOSNewbie00 But it is 100% raster, correct?

  • @nophwa Yes, this is Photoshop and bitmaps.

  • Have you ever tried to use Adobe Flash for Inking...?

  • @furyberserk Thank you very for your input on my questions! I will look into it for sure! Take care!

  • Watching this is making me want to watch Megas XLR...

  • I have watched quite a few videos on here and, I must say that your work is the most beautiful to me. I see how much time you spend on details and I really appreciate your creations.

I'm currently trying to emulate what I see but it is not easy with tips only. I use Illustrator to ink my stuff and then you loose me.

I wish I had someone telling me the exact step from start to finish like:

    1. sketch, 2. ink, 3. group everything 4. ... etc ...

Every video I see, nobody explains anything.

  • @allisondevin

I don't know if you saw it, but there are text boxes as he draws. The colors makes them hard to see. They are near the bottom throughout the beginning of the video.

  • Como le haces, para que las lineas te salgan sin ruido, cuando yo entinto algo mi pincel siempre deja como suciedad y el tuyo no, hay que moverle algo al photoshop?

  • Hey man you're really great! however, I tried using the white brush to erase lines unwanted as you have indicated and I've set my layer to multiply, however, after i finish my drawing the white streaks created by the brush is there. what do you do after? or am i doing it wrong?

  • How is this a tutorial if you don't explain what your doing ?

  • Testing

  • nice work...i like the style...always did my line work the traditional way as a graffiti artist we always work in blackbooks (sketchpads to those that dont write) as we do the real work on the wall...but as a graphic designer this way is a necessity so im watching as many tutorials as i can...by the way...command and s! this takes time so keep saving ;D

  • Did you work on 600dpi for this?

  • @totalwarotaku It does't matter as long as you work in a big canvas.

  • @00SOSNewbie00 Just saying because 600dpi gives you crisp lines too.

  • How do you get such smooth lines no matter what setting I put on the brush my strokes come out shaky and the transition from thick to thin is very bad when I try to use pressure sensitivity.

Mouse or pad it doesn't make a difference either.. and I tried 7000x7000 pixels at 500 dpi then reduce image when done.. that only made the lines worse..

  • So the character in the background how was it done by hand and then scanned?

  • 3 hours inking ?! why not just use the pen tool and then fill the selections with black?

  • @Aviator444 I would spend even more time. Good things needs time.

  • @00SOSNewbie00 you said that making a lineart with mouse is almost imposible.well its possible if you are not using the photoshop..i used SAI easy paint tool for one of my works on deviantart..and the lineart was done in line 1 hour;the mascot was done for a contest(despite the fact that is my first mascot and i used only flat colors the lineart looks ok..after my standards:) ).if you are wondering what kind of work i have made well then reply me and i will tell you the link

  • @ochiorbus It depends on the quality of the lineart and the style of lineart. I believe doing the lineart you see in the video is impossible with a mouse and the Brush Tool. With vectors and a mouse you can do it, but it's more time consuming.

  • @00SOSNewbie00 i agree...however i am not familiar with he pen tool..its a pain in the ass...i have seen you posted some tutorials on your blog for vectors..i will check them out.

    thx again for those posts

    see ya

  • @ochiorbus I lineart with my mouse and I don´t really take that long

  • @00SOSNewbie00

    damn right

One time I spent like 12 hours on a wallpaper

and I said it was blowminding... I uploaded it on deviantart and everyone was like WTF WTF how did you do it and so on..

Remember, NO PAIN NO GAIN :D applies here too

    hehe, good..thanks for the tips

  • @Aviator444 or illustrator

  • First you are a great artist, i really like your drawings, congrats for that, second, how do u rotate the canvas in photoshop cs5? and last you are a great inspiration thanks for the tutorials and tips.

  • @RulaXALT I don't need to rotate my canvas because I can rotate my Cintiq UX21, anyway you can rotate your canvas in CS5, use Google.

  • @RulaXALT To rotate just use the " R " key

  • @00SOSNewbie00 Sharp brushes would be ones like Hard Round? (Hard would mean Sharp?) or the ones resembling a razor or something? I mean, is what you're using a normal hard round brush with pressured size or some other type of brush? Also did you do any tweaks to pressure-size jitter or something like that?

  • @tomichasquad Exactly, just default hard round brushes, no tweaks needed.

  • @00SOSNewbie00 Thanks for the quick responses and the video, you give me new hope :)

  • @00SOSNewbie00 By the way, what kind of pen nib do you like the most from Wacom? :)

  • @tomichasquad I use plastic nibs for my Cintiq, I don´t find it too different from the rest :)

  • @00SOSNewbie00 I see :) I think my favorite is the rubber-tipped black/white nib, too bad there's only 1 in the default nib set :(

  • Sabes que me he dado cuenta?

  • wow

  • "What's the Song!" <3

  • @FaustFlow Louisiana Strawberry.

  • @FaustFlow thanks LOve it All! wonderful stuff!

  • brilliant!

  • O_O Wow. The line work done here with the brush tool is smoother and cleaner than what I can do in Illustrator with paths and strokes! Is there some kind of vector mode on the brush tool that I am unaware of?

Amazing amazing work! Thanks for uploading. It's inspirational.

  • @msampson3d Thanks mate, there is no secret modes, it´s just bitmaps. The key is I´m using a Wacom Cintiq 21UX, I hardly could draw so precise lines with standard tablets.

  • Hey @tsunamyboy69, this was all Sergio. He did an amazing job with our mascot! We are looking forward to getting more posses of him in the new year for a few sections through out the site.

    We've named him Brian.

  • @indepth25 Heheh, I see you don´t miss a link. Thanks a lot for the comment, I hope to do more in the future, just email me whatever you need.

  • Awesome.

  • what brush setting do you use?

  • @supermalyna I use default sharp brushes, I added annotations to the video, if you are interested there are some tips.

  • awesome dude : )

One question: Did you made the original draw?

  • @tsunamyboy69 if he is able to do that, he is also able to make an original, I checked when I discovered them, they made it.

  • @tsunamyboy69 Thanks buddy, yes, I did everything from the sketch to the final design.
