Need to get into single user mode but when I press Command S the computer just boots up normally to the desktop. IT dept has blocked it somehow, any idea how to unblock it?
ok, so lets say that i have multiple accounts on my mac, then i go into single user mode and type all the code and stuff. after i restart the computer again-this time not going into single user mode, will all my accounts still be there?

If you take the ram out of your computer, then put it back in, it will work. If you have a boottable mac CD, that will work too.

Yeah they will as long as you don't delete them, but just going into single user mode will not delete them.
