This song makes me want to strip naked, burst out of my room window, free fall 21 floors, land in the snow, make a snow angel, shiver from the cold, get hypothermia, DIE!, go the pearly gate, say whats up to Saint Peter, do our secret hand shake, look in the directory for Siddhartha (Buddha), find Him, have Him reincarnate me into a frog, meet a princess, kiss her, turn into a prince, order my subjects to bring me a computer, listen to this song again, and cry myself to sleep.
@Sunamogura shut fuck up fucking faggot why dont you just enjoy the fucking video instead of writing all this stupid dumb fucking shit. or do you need people to give you those fucking thumbs up to make you feel better stupid fucking fuck.
@Sunamogura Seems like a whole load of effort man! .. I'd just pause it, grab a sandwich come back to my laptop and hit reply ;) .. But the scenic route definitely seems more entertaining!
Wow... seriously that gave me goosebumps! Thanks for this! I have seen John nine times and I have still never seen him do my two favorite songs... Covered in Rain and Atmosphere. Maybe next tour!
BJCC......it was the place to be that night. This song and the gravity solo made my night. I was kinda heartbroken when he didn't play "wherever I go" after this, but you can't be too picky.
John Mayer's number one fan here. I go to every concert when he's in town. Have yet to hear this one live. It's my favorite. Please John, you've held my hands, taken a picture with me, but how about my favorite song? :)
The best part of this video is the artist not being drowned out by all the obnoxious drunk assholes trying to play karaoke, and for that I thank you...
I was at this concert....BJCC, February 9th, 2010.....I was very much hoping he would play this....I was kind of let down when he didn't play Wherever I Go afterwards, but you can't be too picky!
Loving this video. The version from Where the Light is has an unnecessary amount of auto-tune on his voice. I love hearing a more natural sound like in this.
I was there. It was a fantastic concert! I'm really really glad that I went. This song is definitely one of my favorites, but it is my best friend's favorite, and it was her birthday. She almost cried.
yep i was there the best concert i've been to. for sure. gravity to close the show was awesome even if his voice was tired he played most of the songs from where the light is and all the songs from battle studies and this was just a great. he stopped a song i cant remember the song just to say "this is the cutest thing i've ever seen." it was a little girl in the front row and he made them put her on the big screen and gave he gave her a guitar pick that night.
@inkay6152 I don't remember what song he stopped, I remember him talking to her in Why Georgia...because he said he wasn't going to curse in front of her.... Instead of repeating what he did on Any Given Thursday and say "and leave the shit behind", he just said "and leave it all behind"....
I hate his "I dont remember this song but ill roll with it" thing. He does this all the time. The concert I went too he played the song "not myself". Saw a video of a posting of a concert 4 days later of him saying he hadn't played it in forever.
I never cried as much in public as I did when he played this song that night. I literally cried through the entire song. Thank you so much for posting this. It's the best clip from that night I've seen so far.
I like the fact that John sticks to his original compositions. Because if any of you have seen a live Counting Crows show, Adam butchers his own compositions in the name of "improvisation."
@capoman1 I know what you mean. It kind of bugs me when he does that, sometimes it can work, but doing it to every line and melody ruins it. Makes it seem less like improvisation.
My best friend and I was at this show. This was our 23rd John show in 6yrs. I swear if you listen to the section on John's right, I can hear us scream from our toes. Out of all the shows we saw, we never got to see this song live. There is always something different and wonderful about him in Birmingham. He had told me, when I met him at Eddie's Attic in 2005 and we were talking "I love Birmingham. I promise that I will always come back to Birmingham. I PROMISE YOU. ALWAYS."
@logandil I think its a reference to the promise he made on the "Any Given Thurday" DVD where he said to the crowd at the end of the concert "Lets grow old together, that could be fun." He has grown a lot since then so he is keeping his word, and I personally love wathcing him every year that goes by.
@logandil in the any given thursday album that he recorded in birmingham for his first record and the end of the show he said lets grow old together so 10 years later he was talking about how he kept his promise
@LoservilleTV i think its in reference to what he says near the end of his Any Given Sunday album/DVD, he says it'd be fun to grow old together or something and i think that was in birmingham too
After his first filmed concert (any given thursday) John ended the night by saying to the crowd: "Lets grow old together". Now it's been over ten years later, thus he's being kept to his word.
@LoservilleTV In the video titled 'Any Given Thursday' filmed in 2002, he's on stage and says 'Let's grow old together. That might be fun.' That's what he's refering to.

thanks guys i filmed this on a Canon T1i dslr in 720p. this was my first time getting to use the camera's HD video so i was pumped when it turned out this well.
I was pretty surprised when we got it in but we didnt do anything sneaky. My friend walked in with it around his neck, the ticket checkers and other workers never said a thing... can you say success? haha
