1 /2 Obama stop offshore drilling until it was reinstated. This could cause a $5 a gallon increase, because we would grow dependent upon foreign nations we are not allies with in order to provide our oil. Cap and Trade (American Power Act) would increase gas prices increase by $2.58 a gallon according to George C. Marshall Institute& taxes on the average household up to $3200 according to the RNC Foreign countries price gouge w/ gas prices to $10/gal!.
John R. Christy has been accused of recanting his position that climate change is neither Anthropogenic nor Catastrophic, but he didn’t. He used two independent data sets, weather balloon and satellite. (see links in my about me) Later he only stated that there was some anthropogenic impact that could not be predicted 100 years out, but that what we’re doing was good for the plants.
not if you're gonna do it van, no one takes you seriously, here i've been worried about bretton woods 3, and a six fold increase in earthquakes, get this guy outta here, gimme someone like roubini i cant even take this guy seriously i dont want to hear the whining we all know, show me the numbers or shut the fuck up you radical and spare me the guilt trip we all know okay stop apologizing!
my response to this nonsense is if things are as bad as you all lead on. How bout coming up with a better solution then cap and trade. you know one that actually fixes the problem and isnt profitable for a few like oh i dont know al gore for example
"That's the simple heart of the matter when we talk about climate policy. Nobody should be able to pollute for free." Van Jones. This is Liberal logic at its best. Companies can pollute as much as they want as long as they send money to Democrats in Washington so they can use it to purchase votes. Liberals don't want to end pollution, they just want their cut. Corporate greed is put to shame by Liberals. It always comes down to one thing with Liberals, cold, hard, cash.
The taxes and environmental regulations this man advocates will hurt black people more than white people. Increasing taxes will slow economic growth and increase unemployment among less skilled workers and the poor. He should be regarded by African Americans as a traitor to his own race.
Of course those who pollute should pay. But why should the government collect the proceeds? Politicians and bureaucrats will waste the money on things totally unrelated to cleaning up the pollution. Instead, those harmed by the pollution should get the money.
And Cap and Trade is nothing like a fine for littering. It actually LEGALIZES pollution and makes it so the govt benefits. It's like the tobacco settlement. Govt will have an incentive to allow MORE pollution so it gets more money!
Does it strike anyone as "counterproductive" (to put it mildly) for a man who was in charge of "green jobs" to be talking of nothing other than new and exciting ways to punish poluters rather than promote that mythical dodo-like finding the green job? Is it any small wonder this guy got fired?
@GOPsithlord So, polluters, i.e. major corporations should just get off scott free? Really? How long do you thing our planet is going to last--at the rate we're going? Why are people so afraid of doing the right thing. Making companies accountable and providing new incentives to spur a green economy doesn't have to mean--economic loss. It can be a win-win. And if you think he was fired because of sticking it to the polluters, you're wrong. Obama unfortunately doesn't know his base.
@Bob48Bob Yawn. Really? If he was puppet, why isn't he still in the White House. And BTW Bush stacked the EPA with industry polluters. And Obama apparently doesn't have enough teeth to remove the bastards.
@SandCmpbll You are right. The EPA is stacked with lobbyists, but this whole carbon trading system does not work! This whole carbon system was setup by remember who? Enron! What the world needs is a strong "EPA" type organization that applies to every country, not just the USA.
gET RID OF THE REAL POLLUTERS OF LIFE , LIVING , OF EARTH'S RESOURCES AND THE MINDSET OF MANKIND! If the administration of the last century would step out into the wild horizons of creativity and entrepreneurship of their own prisons , the world could be taking a resourceful step towards humanity! As citizens of a nation , we could economically elevate ourselves to higher standards? Is the enemy the state or what? I see a good looking ass-wipe talking us through a newer angle of BS! :)
Carbon? that stuff plants need to live? and who exactly gets these new taxes? wouldn't be van jones would it? wouldn't dare fly around the country while the rest of us are forced into a lower standard of living. or obama and his many vacations. or the million dollar date he took flying a 747 with only his family on board. these people are worse than welfare cheats. They know no limits on controling your life while living as the ruling class. This guy is nothing but evil.
@justonemorename Then stop taking a shit. It's that absurd. We have to pollute, we should however strive to pollute the least we can and cleanup whenever we do.
@lanceawatt I´m not a big fan of BP, or even our National Oil Comp. Petrobras, but use thease kid of events to raise the gov´t power, yes, in a socialistic way, or ever facistic way is an outrage, my friend.
@gabrielguitarman you seem to be dismissing the objective. We need to cut down on green house gases to avoid a catastrophe and secure a safe future. If we have to payer higher taxes in the process of creating technologies allowing clean, renewable energy then so be it. That we're in a downturn really isn't an arguement for dismissing emergency.
And you won't find a country with the ability to flourish that does not provide government run education - discrediting your anti socialist arguement.
CARBON IS NOT A POLUTANT. IT IS THE MOST PROMINENT ELEMENT ON OUR PLANET! WE ARE CARBON BASED LIFE FORMS! YOU MAY NOT TAX THE BASIC BUILDING BLOCK OF LIFE! CARBON IS NOT HEATING UP THE PLANET!
Well, is he talking about China, the really greatest polluter? No! He is trying to put it up on the americans asses. In the end, it´s all about raising taxes, growing gov´t power, centralization and controling the masses.Yes! Socialism. And...gotta big new: That won´t work.
@gabrielguitarman well of course he's talking about China as with every country that should be declared a universal norm. Socialism isn't even the topic here. And you are part socialist since I'd imagine you support Government school and police funding? Well there you go! It's about balance.
That aside cause it's not relevant. He makes a point. Look at BP. Why should these billionaires be able to fuck the world up and think they have the right to get away with it. There is always a better way.
@lanceawatt Does cap & trade is going to affect America or China? I´m a Brazillian. Do you really thinh that the population in general will like to receive a raise in its electric bills? Do you realy think that, in a economic downturn, raising the cost of living and raising taxes will help the country? No, i´m not in favor of public schools, but Adam Smith, the creator of the idea of Free market is. So that, in fact, isn´t Socialism.
This guy is so full of shit.

They shouldn't get to pollute for fre,, but the cost should be related to the damage, which is far lower than the current carbon tax.
Its like cars, we have thousands of people die in car accidents every year, but we save more lives and we getter better lives as a trade offs.
That's what life is about, trade-offs. Not ignorant utopian visions like this commi has.

A VERY dangerous man, using the environment to push his agenda of a big, all powerful Government.
I pay extra for solar power myself, but I would NEVER support a man like this.
Make no mistake, Van Jones doesn't give a damn about the environment - it's a tool he's using for a massive power grab.
