I'll give hollywood some credit for trying to implement hong kong action sequences in a european medieval setting. Sadly the script was awful, the acting poor and overall just a mediocre product that couldn't be saved even with cool fights.
The women watching this have no problem at all with that? There are male abuse victims that like to watch movies, too. Movies today by themslves abuse men's pyche. And a man threatened so sickingly would tiptoe away and never hold a grudge or seek the first chance to retaliate?
It simply brought down the movie to where I couldn't enjoy it and it worries me that everyone's cool with it. The comment how long is your sword and do you clean it yourself was just dumb.
"...threaten me again & I'll slice off your balls and feed them to the pigs." To shocking for me to keep it in the house when I'm looking to relax and escape into happiness. A knife to the stomach would suffice. Has no one noticed severing men's private parts, kicking them, and threatening them is extremely sexist and acceptable in all movies? There no threats to women that make men seem 'cool.' and female watchers (possible abuse victims) feel deeply uncomfortable. Only against the men.
This is a pretty good movie. I just bought it. I dug the fighting concept in it but they should have gone for more of the free running style they have in Europe.
this film is crap. The 13th film adaptation of The Three Musketeers since 1916. The film is notable for eschewing historical European swordfighting in its action sequences, for Hong Kong film-style martial arts choreography and wirework. This movie even has Tsui Hark's regular actor Xin-Xin Xiong as a stunt choreographer
wow. what an asshole.. the guy who said it was crap obviously marked your comment as spam. The plot still follows the basic story, Tim Roth was brilliant, the acting on the other musketeers were spot on and the fight sequences were simply nail bitingly fun. i hate snobs like Lahirkevin
Anyway, Tim Roth did do an amazing job, he plays a great villian, he was mean in that movie!haha! And yes, the other musketeers were spot on! The fight scenes were very fun!:D
movie sucked terribly. historically awful.

I keep this movie on my shelf as a warning example of all things that can go wrong, in case I ever end up making a Hollywood sword flick.
