Billy Fury! My favourite performer. Shy, gentle, modest super talented, and gorgeous to look at.! Great combination! Billy Britain's number one Rocker! Sadly taken too soon! Wish you were still with us making this world a better place. RIP BILLY. YOU ARE LOVED AND MISSED VERY MUCH!!
This is such a pretty song sung by the one and only Billy Fury. Britain's first and best Rock 'N Roller. Beautiful voice and equally beautiful person.RIP. BILLY.
This video is so great! Billy looking and sounding so beautiful! The sweetest face ever! I love this ! Thank you for sharing. It brings back fond memories of better times.
I have recently re-discovered Billy by going to YouTube and I am so happy as I have recently bought Billy Fury His Wondrous Story on DVD from Amazon and it is so good. A great tribute to a wonderful perfomer. I grew up in England and remember how popular he was . I watched him when he came back in the early 80's and he was still so good and so very gorgeous. I was hoping he would be around for a long time. But no such luck! So unfair ! He seemed to be a really lovely gentle man. RIP!!!

billy the greatest even if he drank custard from a donkeys arse who gives a f.... dont judge others until we look how perfect we all are think before playing god rock on billy you are awesome xx
Billy was a great singer, a great performer and a really nice bloke. Just before his sadly premature death, he was in the next bed to my mate`s dad in hospital ! And by another strange coincidence, my Mum was also in the London Hospital when Adam Faith was there; I seem to remember she said that a white Rolls Royce reg. no. AF1 had come to pick him up!!!
Agreed, it was very sad that he lived that long instead of earlier, like some people did when their lifetime was over for good or worse than that sometimes.
Look how stoned Billy is, he can barely open his eyes. He was smoking dope in the fifties when these mods were still at school. What a beautiful man in every way. The best thing to come from Liverpool by a long chalk.
@CountThrillhammer Well ??? I travelled back from Ireland with Billy Fury in late 50s. Was with him for many many hours. I never saw any of what you write. Lovely man, heart of gold, died so young (heart attack)
That doesn't surpise me. If you watch the excellent Billy Fury Story , not only will you see footage of Billy smoking spliffs and what has to be the biggest home made pipe I've ever seen ( about four feet ) but his road manager tells how Billy preferred a smoke to booze as he had a dodgy ticker. Yes I know, just trying to protect someone who cannot defend themselves. It was So a different world then. Lets always remember the good times..........
You can't expect him to offer you a spliff like it was a casual thing to do in the fifties, it wasn't. Homosexuality was illegal and we had Cliff Richard instead of Little Richard. People who were around the docks such as Billy was in Liverpool were exposed to everything that was imported. Billy was a clever bloke, he would have sussed you out as a square immediately. You won't believe this either - Elvis Presley took drugs ! His favourite was Dilaudid. Look it up.
No one compared to BiIly.I never liked Elvis, but Billy was exceptional.I loved him in my teen and wrote his name all over my school books.I still get tearful thinking of his short life and how ill he looked at the end.RIP Billy
@peggynag Hi, Just viewed the film again. At 1.18 -1.20 you will see Cathy dancing with Lionel Morton of the Four Pennies. I think at 1.41 -1.42 there is a brief glimpse of someone who "could" be Sandie Shaw.
About 25 years ago I saw Adam Faith jogging in Battersea Park in South London. He seemed a nice bloke.
Elvis may not have been the fiery rock 'n' roller' he once was but he had some great hits in the 1960's and 1970's. He had 337 weeks in the U.K. Top 75 in 1970's alone(with 16 top ten hits). So if the rock n roller in Elvis died in 1960, a more consumate balladeer who still could rock emerged . Also he spent major part of 1960's in the Hollywood. So this was one man who could decide what wanted to do irrespective of the theory of supply & demand in the market.
I`ve just listened to the CD "His Wondrous Story",which I was given last Xmas. I always thought he was great, but the second half of this CD introduced me to songs I hadn`t heard before. There`s a fabulous assortment, shades of Gene Pitney and Elvis, but in the end it`s his own raw talent that you remember. He`s not just "Halfway to Paridise",most people`s favourite, just like Connie Francis is not "Lipstick on Your Collar". Listen to her sing "Siboney"to understand.
My comment was to be taken in jest, although early Elvis was great, the post-army version was a mere shadow of his former glory, and the tragic waste of the talent and life makes it worse.
Sorry I misundertook your comment, and as John Lennon said when asked about Elvis' death - "Elvis died the day he went into the army"
But I am a true Elvis fan and appreciated him for his great voice, as far as the waste of life - hmmm let me see - you can't go out and be a regular person, you're surrounded by people always kissing your butt, your natural schedule is a mess you're up all night & sleep all day. Need drugs to counter that. Yep normal life so you shouldn't make any mistakes
@Grifiki Would you like to explain to me what you mean by crap. I said "I wish I could sing like Billy Fury or Elvis or any of the greats." which is an admission that I can't sing. That admission has been on here for a year. The FACT that Elvis had his first hit 3 year's before Billy is not crap, neither is the quote from Lennon. If you would like to dispute the facts that I stated then please post your sources. Stop being a dick.
On 10 May 1960 Fury was a star looking for a backup band. Guess who turned up to audition??John, Paul,George,Stuart,The Silver Beetles, along with stand-in drummer Johnny Hutchinson(Their drummer at the time,Tommy Moore did not arrive until later) lost the chance to back Fury. That group turned out to be The Beatles!!!
Billy does a great job of this Vic Dana song.Until around 1963,many UK hits were in fact"cover songs" of American hits..there were a few exceptions...such as Eden Kane,Adam Faith,Johnny Leyton and Helen Shapriro,Cliff Richard and Mike Berry.
Saw him many times, he was quiet and cute. He made good some songs.
This crew of Marty Wilde,The Crickets,Johnny ?? Eden Kane.toured a lot together..and although I was in his fan club, never in a million years could he be classed as better than Elvis...
I went to the "Big" Rock "N" Roll Show at Wembley in 1972. Got delayed and missed Billy`s set. But did see Jerry Lee Lewis,Bill Haley, Little Richard and Chuck Berry. So, all was not lost! BF without question, Britains best and most underated pop

Your reply to me is exactly what i am talking about. I didn't enter into your argument just wanted to know WHY you have to post such negative comments that are just disrespectful. I grew up listening to Billy Fury and just wanted to watch and remember BUT in the process as i am tryng to see if other people are remembering too. I come across comments like yours. And it was also a general statement for all of the people that ruin videos by posting things they have no clue about.
Who cares. Let it go for crying outloud. If you really wanted it to go away, you would just ignore it, but instead, you fan the flames and build it up again. Again, I'll cut you a break and won't say anything negative, but if you want to engage some more, I can bring it and you'll have a hard time sleeping tonight. We don't want that. Have a nice day.
The ONLY one is me? Who started this up with me? YOU. Who continues to respond and persist the dialog? YOU. Again, I'll cut you one more break to let this go. Otherwise I'm going to unleash the "fury" on you.
Don't ask why. Some men just want to watch the world burn. Go to bed, unionjack65. You don't stand a chance in this if you really want to engage me. I pardon you. For now.
Keep my thoughts to myself just as you just did? I'll follow your example, thanks. So money is the barometer in which we gauge ourselves? If that's the case, Britney Spears blows Silly Billy out of the water. Come up with a better argument than that, sport.
Why do you find it necessary to write such childish things. Its people like you that ruin these videos. What is there to argue about?? You try to watch something and have to put up with crude remarks. Obviously you don't know what you are talking about anyway.
my opinion is billy was one of the best artist off his time..elvis was the same only one got marketed to the world bye colnel tom the rest as they say is history.rave on billy.
and so was Gene Vincent. The US ditched Vincent once they realised how one dimensional his material was. He remained popular in the UK but nowhere near as popular as Billy.
I do so hope that these old clips are saved by the british film institue or somewhere. I never got to see Billy live, he died when I was a teen but he is one of my favortie artists of all time.
thanks all you BF fans Good Looking and a wounderful voice - Lucky us cos todays kids don.t know him WHAT A SHAME - Music was simple and you could understand every word x Linda

Have a nice day.
darkknight91 2 years ago
The only person fanning flames is you.Seems to be what you do best. WHY???
unionjack65 2 years ago
The ONLY one is me? Who started this up with me? YOU. Who continues to respond and persist the dialog? YOU. Again, I'll cut you one more break to let this go. Otherwise I'm going to unleash the "fury" on you.
darkknight91 2 years ago
Don't ask why. Some men just want to watch the world burn. Go to bed, unionjack65. You don't stand a chance in this if you really want to engage me. I pardon you. For now.

why dont you get a life and keep your thoughts to yourself: or better yet, express them to those who care to listen........
billy had talent and sold millions,,,,,,how much money have you made?
emb1st 2 years ago
Keep my thoughts to myself just as you just did? I'll follow your example, thanks. So money is the barometer in which we gauge ourselves? If that's the case, Britney Spears blows Silly Billy out of the water. Come up with a better argument than that, sport.
darkknight91 2 years ago
Why do you find it necessary to write such childish things. Its people like you that ruin these videos. What is there to argue about?? You try to watch something and have to put up with crude remarks. Obviously you don't know what you are talking about anyway.

You stirred up an argument from over a month ago. Congratulations, genius.

were is the rock 'n' roll in this ballad ? billy fury was popular only in england
eugenecraddock 3 years ago
and so was Gene Vincent. The US ditched Vincent once they realised how one dimensional his material was. He remained popular in the UK but nowhere near as popular as Billy.

at last billy fury was popular only in uk. In France he never had a hit record. Gene Vincent in France was and is Revered like God
