  • I love Johnny Cash and I grew up on Johnny Horton, so please pardon me when I say,

Wow. Johnny was very very high. It became apparent @ around 1:35.

    Great vid.

  • It's damn near time for the muslim's to get the same thing we gave the British.

  • @ModelDX1 I do assume you're gonna let us British fight alongside you?

  • @driftingsinger Damn right but you guy's better clear the raghead's out of London and the rest of the UK. We the People of the USA are very well armed. Your government needs to allow British citizen's to arm themselves too.

  • @ModelDX1 I don't think Johnny would agree with you.

  • i prefer johnny hortons version

  • whoops I just spoiled the end 2 avatar, sorry Lorne and Sherry., LOL

  • i love this song! johnny makes it sooo much better!!

  • Johnny's voice wasn't as smooth and velvety as Jim Reeves or lot of other singers, it was a little coarse and rough, but maybe that's exactly why we never get tired of him!

  • heis a good singr fucker ass jazz motherfucker what the fuck he is man wtf wtf

  • Johnny Hortons version is easily better, I dont understand why people think Johnny Cash is such a good singer

  • Johnny Horton.1

  • this one is ok, johnny horton is better lonnie donnegan is shit

  • I like Johnny's version. I personally can't stand radio-friendly country songs that make war of any sort seem like some humorous hillybilly huntin' trip, which is exactly what Horton's is. Johnny Cash was born with the sort of solemn gravitas befitting a wartime bard.

  • Johnny Horton was the best, but no complaints about JC

  • i like both versions

  • Johnny Horton's version is good, but I personally love Cash's version..

  • R.I.P. Johhny Cash

  • still a good version but prefer lonnie donegans

  • GOD BLESS JOHNNY CASH

  • Lonnie Donnegan does it better

  • is it just me or does it seem he has a cold?

  • what hell did he say 1:33 to1:40?

  • @77BIGSKIP i dont know

  • i love johnny cash but johnny horton does this song right

  • johnny cash is awesome but this is johnny hortons song

  • @HunterBrad98 not really it was from jimmy driftwood then johnny hortons

  • @HunterBrad98 No it isn't.

  • @HunterBrad98 actually this is Jimmy Driftwood song. that Johnny Horton covered just like the man in black did.

  • @HunterBrad98 So what? Johnny Cash sang it just as good....maybe better

  • @HunterBrad98 Johnny Cash rewrote A LOT of songs. It was his style.

  • johnny was able to do everything best... he's the best

  • Wow... simply wow.

  • Johnny Horton was way better.

  • Horrible,

  • Dedicated to the prince and princess of Wales, You visit us on the forth of July, I thought that is when we ran you asses out of here !!!!

  • @Reagan1mike or the day we decieied wed rather keep india..

  • Thats the lowest Ive heard him sing before!!!

  • @officeroffear hes not even really singin i love johnny cash but he really only talks :/

  • Johnny Cash can sing everything from bluegrass to classic rock

  • Johnny cash was one of the greatest singers of all time i have all hs songs and dvds and he knows how to get the low notes and it was well sung.

  • it's a great song and enough

  • i like 1:28 on so much!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great song..did he write this or lonnie doneghan? or was it a folk song written earlier?

i am wondering though,if an englishman wrote a song about the british burning down the whitehouse during the war of 1812,or the fact the americans didnt get control of the Northern Terrortories (Canada)....would americans say it was a great song? :P hmm lol

  • That poor gator! We powdered his behind and shot him through the cannon and the gator lost his mind. Does PETA or Doug Niedermeyer know you did this to a poor, defenseless animal?

  • good but not as good as the johnny horton version

  • Not nearly as good as the Lonnie Donnegan version!

  • Johnny Cash was a great musician, a great American, and a truly great man.

We were blessed to have had him with us for as long as we did. His music will live on forever; long after we’re gone, his songs will still be sung.

I hope he's back together w/ his wife June Carter Cash, as his faith assured him he would be.

Thank you, Mr Cash, for everything you did, everything you left us, and everything you were.

  • Damn, that is even low for him

  • thank you for this post

  • It a great good song

  • Oh, congratulations. You did it just like every other song you've ever written.

  • an american legend that appealed to so many

  • ye wouldnt be anything without the british just a dirty dutch or french colony

  • i use to listen to him on a vinyl record, big stereo back then,,,miss it all!!!

  • On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month the guns fell silent. Today we remember. Solemn Greetings on this Remembrance Veterans Poppy Armistice Day to all nations.

And for the for Americans/Canadians Please accept my salute on the anniversary of the Battle of Crysler's Farm Nov 11 1813.

  • "hahaha ya can't catch me... hehe can't catch me there redcoat" LOL

  • cool.

  • who origonaly sings this song?

  • @jesus1mylife Johnny Horton...sang many songs about the history of america

  • johny horton

  • This is by far the best version. What a voice!

  • Yeh, it is good, but i prefer Johnny Horton's version, more life in it.

  • Great song Johnny Horton does a awesome version. I believe he's the original person whom did this song.

  • Had they gotten the news of the treaty, there would not have been an battle and Andrew Jackson probably wouldn't have become president when he ran.

  • This song pumps you up about your country...

  • the funny thing is this battle shouldn't of even happened, the British and Americans had already signed a treaty in Belgium but it took too long for the message to get there.

  • @Epimpin101

Very true, and had the battle not happened Jackson probably would have never became president because he used New Orleans as a big part of his platform.

  • Although it is yet to be proved that America is a better country for rebelling againt Britain, this is still without doubt a catchy little number, first composed by a revolutionary colonialist dog. ; ) Lonnie Donegan sang it better, by the way

  • "British scum", ha fuckin' brilliant.

  • I love this song, and I like Johnny Cash, but this rendition is nowhere near as good as Johnny Horton's.

  • Wow, I didn't know he'd ever done this song! Thanks for putting it up!

  • this song is awsome but johnny hortan does it better but there both awsome!

  • I keep listening to this song since yesterday

I just can't stop It's tragic, funny, interesting...and is just a 2min long song with a great melody. it ROCKS!

  • This is the best song ever!

  • I prefer Johnny Horton's version. Much livelier...more emotion.

  • @firstdance2000 i agree

  • Comment removed

  • @firstdance2000

I think Lonnie Donegan's is the best version

    Lost John

  • hehe.. i love this song...yo go johnny..use to sing this song with my daddy in the car. Was so much fun!! The gator lost his mind..lol..so gr8

  • i wish justin bieber died ... not this legend. >.< RIP Johnny! you were always and will always be loved :(

  • didnt johhny horton wright make this song?

  • @khonthekiller Johnny Horton made this song in 1959, but he died and johnny cash and him were close friends so this is a tribute to him.

  • dude it makes it sound sad when he sings it.

  • @darkrogue266 It is a song about killing people...

  • Dempsey scorcher nice but nailing Pemberton way better

  • I WISH HE COULD HAVE BEEN HERE TO SING ABOUT THE BLOOD IN THE GULF OF MEXICO FROM BP!

  • @BeccaBoo22100 What about the blood in the Persian Gulf?

  • I WISH HE COULD HAVE BEEN HERE TO SING ABOUT THE BLOOD IN THE GULF OF MEXICO FROM BP!

  • @BeccaBoo22100

Exactly! I'm sure Johnny would comment on that catastophe!

  • @BeccaBoo22100 ahHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh please.

  • @BeccaBoo22100 Blood?

  • one of the best songs in history

  • im english and i adore this song jr is MY GOD peace ya alllll

  • fight for Jewish money ....

  • Johnny Horton's version is better.

  • Anything from Johnny Cash is good.

  • Sorry JC you were no JH; probably noone should have touched this classic..

  • JOHNNY CASH IS AWSOMEW!!

  • johnny cash make's all songs sound good

  • No offense Johnny Cash, but Johnny Horton does this song better than you

  • haha im english haha funny tune maan love jr another class song

  • en this ver is ok but i like the other one better tho.

  • I like Johnny Cash a lot but it's too slow IMO. Original kills it.

  • Sad that Johnny Horton died 12 years before this and the two were good friends.

  • Woah deep notes :D

  • Great song, sums up the battle real good

  • Can't get enough of this song. In fact, the whole 'America' album is great and tells the history of America. Good historic lesson to learn from that.

  • Yeah, that's true!

  • who has heard the war of 1812 by the arrogant worms? its funny cuz they sing about how the canadians won and at one point they say we fired our guns and the yanks kept a-comin =D

  • Wow. He can sure hit those low notes!

  • this song is cool only cause johnny cash is sing it

  • Your so right...better than Johnny :)

  • i have to disagree with you

  • @katchkittie in case you didnt notice his name is johnny too you're supposed to say horton

  • Comment removed

  • not as good as johnny hortens

  • 1:37

  • was he improvising as if he didnt know the song he was like they ran through the briars and they ran through the bramples a pamaapamapada somthin somthin somthin...

  • think mr. cash had some substance abuse problems back in the day. actually he had serious drug/alcohol problems am a big fan but cant believe he even remembered his own name much less lyrics lol

  • If you were a huge fan, you would also know that he hadn't drug problems in 1972.

  • i am bein supportive not offensive but if you look at it all great singers had drug problems for example: All of the beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny cash etc. etc. so even if your "hero" did drugs think of it that way =D

  • You're right! And I never said that Johnny didn't had drug problems. I only said that he didn't take drugs in the time of that song.

  • @tyanth12

Really truly i dont think they had a choice, back then they had to drive themselves to concerts, Nashville one night, Dallas the next. thats driving all night and most of the day. the only way to do it was with drugs. not saying it wasent wrong. but they diten really have much of a choice if they valued thiere carrer

  • @countryflyboy i never said he didnt i was just saying that although he did drugs he still had talent

  • @countryflyboy i never said he didnt i was just saying that although he did drugs he still had talent

  • @tyanth12 The saddest thing is that Cash didn't even do drugs to get high or get that rush. It was kinda forced on him in the early days. He needed to stay awake during shows so...

  • don't know exactly which year this video is from, but it is fact that he had serious substance abuse problems throughout his career. i'm sorry my posting offended you substance abuse doesn't make you a bad person and he beat his fromwhat i recall

  • I'm sorry to tell you again, that if you had red the description, you would know that this song is from 1972, from his America album. Everybody knows about his drug problems, but he hadn't had always drug problems. The hardest time was from 1958 to 1967. Then again in the mid 80's because of some operations. I don't want to be rough on you, but such comments show me that some people say they're fans but they don't even know when songs are from, even not when the description tells it.

  • USA! USA! USA!

or should i say CSA! CSA! CSA!

  • @jimsmith1113 No its CSI CSI!!!!

  • who gives a bloody shit what the english won... who runs this damn country, us or them, so bugger the bastards, we won and they can just deal with it, battles or nay, we won the damn war

  • i believe you have the French to thank for that

  • Johnny Horton's version is SOO much better

  • Yeah, me too

  • R.i.P TO ALL THE TROOPS WHO GAVE THERE LIVES SO WE COULD LIVE LIKE WE ARE TODAY

  • @1973slimshady1973 Both British and American.

  • @1973slimshady1973 i was free befor they took us to war

  • @1973slimshady1973

im sure alot would not do it again if they saw how it turned out.

  • if we lost more battles than we won we would all speaking a differant language.

  • @carsonstudio Haha, thats soooo funny and Effing dumb as both sides spoke English!

  • Don't forget about the many battles won at sea with our fledging Navy.

  • lol great voice!!

  • who cares if johnny Horton is a Jew

  • Even Cash himself admitted to using other people's songs. "That green folder over there that's got all the songs I stole." Just because a song is written by one person, is that the only person that can ever play it? Copyright law is written so that whoever writes it can choose if someone else gets to record their song. It's called freedom of choice.

  • I love Johnny Cash witha passion, but hearing this song was painful! Johnny Horton (a jew) was much better.

  • @BoyJewish Why exactly did you point out the fact he was a Jew?

  • Why does he sing everyone elses songs??? That is ludicrius!

  • What's the problem? Most of the singers nower days don't write their songs! Johnny wrote many by himself!

  • It is Johnny Cash. He can sing whatever he pleases. ;)

  • Well sorry everyone!!! Try to negavate me till I reach 20 negatives OK!!! PLEASE PLEASE OH PRETTY PLEASE!!!!

  • Always feel a nice vibe when you hear of an invading army fleeing for cover. Even if it is your home country.

  • that is funny the british running away a thing that will never ever happen the french will run ,but not the british god save the queen

  • he didn't even write the song

  • And what's the problem?

  • a lot of jonny cashs songs he didnt write stupid. heck, a lot of elviss songs werent his and they are now remaking old songs. my advice to you is just enjoy the songs as they are... no matter who sings it

  • Yes for our sins we did th burn the White house.

  • Why do you fucking watch this then?

  • @bionicbigfoot so if u dont like it u comment anyway and bitch about how much people like it well you can suck my left nut

  • fired a couple men he ditint even know.

  • Who fired who?

  • No not on the same day I believe. I think it was burned August 24

  • idk the exact date but yeah the burning was well before this battle

  • i am in love with this song!♥

  • Just goes to show you, as great as Johny Cash was, you can't improve on the original.

  • Did johnny Horton do this originally or was it Cash?

  • It was Horton.

  • jimmy driftwood sang it before3both of them

  • Comment removed

  • Johnny Horton

  • Thank u so much for putting this up! I love all Johnny cash songs.

  • You're welcome! Always happy to hear that!

  • im wearing the shirt with the pic of him flippin someone off that first picture looks like it was from the same performance

  • It's the same. That picture, and the one you mean were made before the San Quentin concert 1969.

  • I love Both of the Johhnies. I sing Cash for Kareoke though. I am going to try to sing Horton next time though.
